Is anyone else even mildly concerned about Goff's durability? I'm usually not one to worry about injury stuff, it is a part of the game. But Goff has left 2 of 3 preseason games due to an injury. It's probably him and Fisher being cautious, but he's being taken out in preseason, he's already playing in limited snaps. Could he play a full 16 games?
Nope, no way. He's not physically ready at all. The NFL is littered with QB's who played too early, took a beating and then sucked.

of course....he reminds me of Sam Bradford...I always look at ankles...and wrists...

Vince Young,
Hey...guy is still career 31-19....

Not sure what to say..you guys see it...you see the offense we plan on running..if Goff can't do that...Tired of seeing him get hit behind Williams...Hell, I wanna cut Williams...You learn in several ways...doing seems to really work well..If we have this guy on the bench, against Frisco, it's a damn shame...anyone can win that game.. @DaveFan'51 could win that game... @BonifayRam could win that game @VeteranRamFan could win that game.... @Florida_Ram maybe could get us a 0-0 tie....:ROFLMAO:..... @den-the-coach definitely could win that game... @Tron @Mackeyser @jakebogen95 we have as much chance as Keenum.....
Seriously, you take your stallion, simplify the game plan, lean on Gurley, throw a couple bombs to loosen the box, tell GZ to get ready for a couple 50 yarders...feed Tavon, Britt, Kendricks, and Quick..err, ok ok, too soon, Cooper the rock...we'll be fine...20 points wins week one....

I don't know where people get the idea CK can't/won't go deep and doesn't keep his eyes downfield. It's just not true. You need someone open/about to be open first and you need protection. He also knows how to lead a receiver and hit them in stride, can extend plays, and has pretty good legs if he gets a chance to run.

Goff looks like a QB who hasn't had a year of NFL training yet.

He certainly looks more physically prepared than rookie Bradford or that 6th round pick from Michigan who has done just fine in the league.

Seriously though he needs to get bigger but he doesn't remind me of Bradford at all. And he took about a thousand more hits in college than Sam did.

Did you see lil ankles, err, Sam dropping dimes yesterday? Just wow...

Reminds me...and he's actually better looking than that skinny kid from Michigan....I saw that combine....remember it...laughed about Brady...look who's laughing now....LOL

Yes, he is imperfect. Goff will be better one day.
My question, do you wanna win, like NOW?

Case Keenum, pretty good day right? Any big drops by receiver for his balls? Nope? Look at this...

While there were positives, Los Angeles’ ability to sustain drives was hampered by struggles on third down. The Rams began 0-of-5 on third down, including 0-of-4 with Keenum in at quarterback. L.A. finished just 1-of-7 on third-down opportunities in the first half, and were only 1-of-10 in the situation after three quarters.

Third down was an issue for the Rams’ offense last year, and will likely continue to be a point of emphasis as the club heads into the regular season.
Can't win with him doing that....is it all Keenum...IDK...coaches call plays..QB makes them work or changes into better plays....He can't/won't/doesn't do this...Can't do it now, what the hell is he starting for???? He's supposed to be smart too...

Absolutely.
Me too...Lets get Goff up to speed...protect him with the best we have..let him throw to the best we have...and run with the best we have...Keenum is Keenum....the next 3rd down he converts will be the first one imo...

I think there is a lot of judgement on Goff for not lighting up the world but in fairness he's had little time with the #1's in the preseason. If you give Goff 4 quarters of the entire starting OL, all of the starting WR's (who can actually catch) and more importantly the biggest security blanket there is in Todd Gurley things would look much different.
He's made some throws that I don't think Keenum or Mannion can or would make.
He may struggle at times because all rookies do. But personally I still think he should start day 1. It's not like Keenum has been much better and he's been solely with the #1's.

Yeah, I think that is unfortunately true. But they might be concerned it would be worse with Goff until he learns the nuances of playing in the NFL. Fisher is between a rock and a hard place. Keenum can only carry you so far. Goff is capable of carrying you much further. But in the meantime he's going to get you stuck in the mud until he figures out how to pull you out. Keenum's gotta be the starter for now. I'd like to say he's earned it but its more a case of Goff hasn't taken it yet.

Here's my problem:
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KeenCa00/gamelog/2015/

Keenum started 5 games against the weak part of our schedule. He threw for more than 150 yards only twice. He accounted for at least 1 TD in only 3 of the 5 starts. Our offense scored more than 20 points in only one of the five games.

I think Keenum sticks us in the mud just as much as Goff does early on. Difference is that Keenum won't turn it over. But he also won't make the playoffs that Goff makes. And Goff will get better as the season progresses. Keenum is Keenum.

If you run Goff with the ones and he's not ready season opener, what did we accomplish?

I'm voting to go with experience and a winning record until Goff proves he's ready. The first 4 games are too difficult and important.

Nah.

The game vs Dallas I don't think Fish and staff prepared him for double A gap blitzes and stunts, which was stupid but they came out and said they were going to keep it simple and they did. The hit was on his non-throwing shoulder and I observed at the time it was dumb to take the kid out, that he needed to stay in there and get his reps. But I think the reason for pulling him was spin, as I don't trust everything that Fish says and I tend to read between the lines with him for that reason. Note that he did come out for the following series and throw a real nice strike downfield to Coop that was dropped. He was fine IMO, non-throwing shoulder it's just that Fish crapped his pants seeing his prized rook take a couple tough shots. Which is understandable btw, but it did hurt his readiness for game 2.

Game 2 and 3 he bounced right back after taking hits or the awkward slide with the knee brace, and made throws. I was very relieved when they put him back out there to get his snaps in the last one. Keep in mind the kid just faced two of the best defenses from last year (ranked 3 and 4 in points allowed respectively) and played pretty early snaps against legit top NFL players without looking terrible. Other than a bad decision last game that would have been a pick six he's done pretty good for a rook. Look at what Carson Palmer's done the past two weeks in completing TDs to defenses, it's hard to expect perfection from anyone let alone a rookie.

For my money he's tough and doesn't let things shake him up. Definite Cool Hand Luke personality which I love. Most QBs rarely play well after big hits but Goff isn't your normal QB in that way. He's got that inner strength kinda like Brady does, and I'm good with that under the surface type of competitiveness.

Think Kap a few years back with the Niners. Smith was playing great and then Kap took over......because he was ready and it was time and was better than Smith.

Krapondick took over because the Rams knocked Smith out and they didn't have a choice.
