Understandable. A 2nd and 3rd round pick for a half a year contract and a player that's currently injured and 32 years old is a lot.

I also think there's a deeper plan and some analytics behind this move too, though. Broncos eating the contract is a big factor in this and if we re-sign him and our strength and conditioning team can work that Whitworth magic on him we're probably Super Bowl favorites for the next 3-4 years at least.

We all know how great Von is that is not the issue for me.

Short term he will most likely be a plus, but long-term we lose 2 more semi valuable draft picks and to me he is oh the backside of his career I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

We imo should want Howard or Jack you pay for them but we get a solid 4 plus top notch play out of them. How much longer do we keep Von? We need depth always and we are killing what little draft capital we have. I'm d gladly pay for a stud in his prime like Ramsey was. That was Von 6 years ago at age 26 now he is 32 no disrespect i truly wish you the best. Honestly it is not about the picks, it's a the logic behind this deal why. I get short term as I said but what about the future. He is not the future that is why I think it was a bad move.
I think the Rams are looking at this being a 2-3 window far as Von Miller. While he is on the "back end" of his career, or rather entering that time frame. He is still one of the better LOB's in the NFL, and will be a good addition for the next 2-3 years. I do not see the Rams making this trade unless they were certain they could resign him for 2-3 years.

Also, don't forget much of our dead money falls off after this year, we do not rely solely on draft picks, we will be fine, as we have proven, while giving up picks for proven players the last 5 years, we haven't fallen off any cliff yet, even saddled with 40 million in dead money this year.....imagine what we will do next year with significantly less dead money and more proven players...

My Only slight (and it is very slight) concern is despite the wheeling and dealing that Les and co seems to pull off every year … draft picks are ultimately a finite resource … I’m not sure how sustainable it would be over the next few years but honestly it’s been the last four five years we have been hearing that we are migrating our future … but it’s sure as fuck fun while we can

Our picks will be late anyway. The future is now. If this pushes the Rams over the edge, it is a small price to pay. My only fear is that Von Miller might be a "has been", and is just living off name recognition at this point / won't actually improve our roster. If that happens, we really screwed up trading away two decently high picks. Some Broncos fans are saying that Miller has been meh for a few years now. Time will tell. I am optimistic. Playing next to Aaron Donald will maximise anyone's game. Miller has elite level talent. I think he will make a big impact. But the trade is not without risk.

Can we resign Millar? If so, I would definitely expect a discount at this time of his career no matter that he is still elite. He is going to enjoy playing in LA!

Not to derail but my god this is just a sick stat for AD in how ridiculously higher he is over everyone else as a DT.

Many good povs. One poster commented on Snead taking elite players and I agree he has and Von qualifies as one, but Snead mostly has stuck to younger elite - Ramsey, Cooks, and Stafford I don't consider too old even though he has been in the league as long as Von QBs wear better.

He took Talib, Mathews etc they were on the backside of their career and not worth a ton - good not their previous dominant selves. Von to me is that player.

We lead the league in sacks, Von plays on the left side where does Floyd play, his age, stunts others growth like Terrell/Obo, we need to stop the run and stop a leaky pass def is Von the answer?

Honestly this signing feels like the Cardinals signing Watts not bad not great. Short term he will help not sure long term.

Will our DL be better sure, is that the prescription to stopping Offense that can run and base an Offense on short quick passes like TB and GB I say it won't JMO.

You have to include last weeks move with Denver as well. This trade was Kenny Young and a 7th, 3rd and 2nd. For Miller, a 6th and 9Mil. The beauty in last weeks part was it probably took anybody else trying to trade for Miller out when they thought they had time. Also the Rams throwing in a 7th last week was a dead give away as to something else with Denver. Hind site being 20/20.
I definitely like this trade.

I think this is all about Murray, Wilson, and maybe Lance and not even due to VM's pass rushing skills. Rams want to make sure containment is kept for the scramblers (mostly Murray at this point) in this division and few do it as well as VM.
