Juggs, it's hard to keep the spirits up. It is vital, though. I don't know if your Dr has recommended a nutritionist, but listen to him or her. It's very easy to relax on your diet for comfort, but it is important to maintain nutrition. I know it was always an issue with Susan. That doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy your diet - just make sure to balance it with what your nutritionist and dr recommend.

As hard as it is to get exercise, get a little.

It sounds corny, but dance to songs you love. It helps.

Know that besides your IRL loved ones, you have a bunch of friends here on ROD. And we expect you to be around for multiple Super Bowl championships.

Just a bit of an update.

Bone Pain is terrible most days. Typically in my hips and everything below. Heart palpitations are coming strong. Usually it’s due to low iron but people with my cancer can’t really take iron in. So it’s just part of it.

I loaded up my CBC to my support group. Basically to the calling for my doctors head. Seems I’m well overdue for phlebotomies. I was told I need to find a new doctor ASAP.

I was given the leading specialist in Missouri—Dr.Ho at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St.Louis.

So, next month, when I get my insurance back, I should be able find a new doctor and get to the specialist.

All in all, I would say I’m getting more educated by community than I am doctors. I hope to be feeling better soon.

It takes courage to share your experience with the rest of us Juggs.
I havent commented until now because I just didnt have the right words.

Cancer is generally fought by a community of Doctors, Family and Friends and I feel that is very helpful to all involved.
Cancer is something that will impact everyone's life at some point. Either as a patient or a loved one.

I lost my mother around 10 years ago to cancer.
I now have a close co worker that is fighting it. We talk regularly about the procedures and processes that he is going through. It is truly amazing the advances they have made since my Mother was going through it.
That may not mean much to you, but hopefully your team has a solid foundation of tools to work with.

The only real advice I can give, is to do your best to try not to feel like a patient.
Do your best to hold onto yourself as a human being.

Don't take bullshit for an answer Juggs. Some doctors work harder and try harder and are better versed than others. If it doesn't smell right, don't buy it.

I got into a dr in 2 weeks. So I will be able to get some testing and get the phlebotomies that I NEED! Soon after, I hope to see the MPN specialist.

Speaking from first-hand experience, the doctors at Barnes Jewish are phenomenal. I think you're in good hands, Juggs.

Beat this thing's ass!

Agree with Memento, Barnes Jewish is a great hospital. I owe my life to a couple of doctors in the research department. COPD
Keep fighting the good fight.

I just noticed this thread. I hate to see someone suffer through this. I hate cancer. Lost my brother and father in law to cancer. Cancer sucks. But sometimes it isn't a death sentence. I had a co-worker who's had leukemia for a lot of years and the prognosis is good for her to live a lot more. Last I heard she promoted to the Bay Area and is doing fine. All I can say is, we never know how long we have until we don't have it. Keep up the good fight. You just never know whats in store for you.

Well...we sit here on July 31st, 2019. I am unsure what on earth caused this.

I have been unemployed for 2 months now. I had to leave my job because I simply couldn’t move without being in a ton of pain.

I was accepted into a charitable clinic that takes broke ass people like me.

They started by running tests to get my levels. We got a call the day after taking my initial draws and they asked for me to come back and do more bloodwork. They needed to double check for certain things.

About a week later I am back in the office. She comes in and says they can’t explain blood test from before or now, but it’s as if it simply vanished and the reason I have so much pain, she believed was from Rheumatoid Arthritis. She wasn’t certain but wanted to put me on the specific meds for it and added Cymbalta. Said they use it as a way to add to the pain management plus it will help my mood.

I was skeptical, but after a month or so now, I must say, I feel better than I have in probably two years. I have little to no pain. I get around perfectly and YES my mood is enhanced.

Now, I am sitting here pissed off because of this is what was wrong with me, why didn’t my last doctor figure it out and fix me. Then maybe I wouldn’t have quit a great paying job. Now, I’m struggling to get anyone to hire me. I’ve even applied to be a janitor at a school and they want experience. All because a doctor misdiagnosed me instead of chasing down the symptoms and really figuring this out.

Well....there’s my story. Thank you all for the positive energy!

Sorry about the job front but SO happy to see this on the health front. You'll find another job but your health is so much more important.

Cheers to you my friend.

I have an interview tomorrow, so, wish me luck. I just don’t understand how this can happen.

She agreed that my bloodwork from then suggested what I was diagnosed with, but she said after asking me so many questions, she was able to get a hunch. She said that when I told her about my pain, that it was in the bones and it wasn’t just one hip or one leg it was always both, that that’s what made her think it was RA. When I got angry about the misdiagnosis she kind of clamped up and said she understood. They both work for Mercy Medical, so I’m sure she would never suggest he simply didn’t do his due diligence.

At the end of the day, I feel terrific. And I’m ready for a fresh start. So it is what it is. I hated my job anyway, but the money was fantastic. But I would rather be poor and have a long life ahead to be with friends and family than have money in the bank and looking down deaths Barrel.

Being a Christian I like to think God had a hand in healing you. Its awesome that after thinking you didn't have much time you now have plenty of it. The bad news, you lost a good paying job. The good news, you've got your whole life ahead of you to chase whatever dream you want. Now go out and get what you want. You earned it. (y)

Truly happy to hear this Juggs.
It's messed up that your condition was misdiagnosed to begin with, but at least you're doing well and feeling better.

Wut?????? wow Juggs, what an awful ride they took you on. But God even has a purpose for circumstances like this.
I'll pray you find a job that is the best of both worlds - you'll love it & get paid well with all the perks.
Meanwhile, take advantage of your downtime to recover & do things you want to do. I got laid off once, then found a job a couple weeks later. I chose to start right away, but I wish I would have taken the "opportunity" to wait a week & spend time with my family.

Definitely. If you were misdiagnosed and lost a job or wages because of it, i'd think you would have a decent case. The problem may be in finding an attorney willing to take a case on contingency. Call your local Bar Association and they should provide you with a few numbers.

First let me say thank god you don't have cancer. And yes you should be compensated in some form. But I have also dealt with Mercy and in my experience they are a racket Especially if you have insurance. No one unless they have been diagnosed with a major illness really under stands how every single thing in your life changes from the moment you walk out that clinic door. And to be given a death sentence and then aww shucks we messed up that's a back-breaker no pun intended. As far as Mercy goes one Doctor will not go against another they are all connected in the same network and if you push it a once friendly clinic will become hostile to you right down to the receptionist. That has been my experience anyway. Good luck my friend. .

Dang I don't know how I missed this thread. So glad it turned out to be a misdiagnoses. Don't get down about finding a job. You've got your health that's what is most important.
