I’d think the trade of either punter should happen today. Cuts are to be done by tomorrow.
I don't think they can trade or will trade him.

Let's assume he wants to go the Dallas if the Rams move on. Well, he is not subject to waivers as a vested vet, so he can go where he wants. So if Dallas wants him they don't have to do a thing other than wait for his release.

And I don't see the Rams trading him somewhere where he doesn't want the be. They will not screw him and lets say send him to a Jacksonville or wherever.

So they likely give him his release so he can go where he wants.

Dallas would then risk losing him as many teams would be ahead of Dallas in being able to claim waved players.

As much as I love Hekker, because I truly do. Now is the time to get rid of him if you’re looking to receive some value. And based upon the preseason for big booming B, I think it’s hard to not let Hekker go. It’s a really tough decision, and Hecker has been a huge part of this organization, but the business is as real as it gets.

Idk, are players on covid protocol allowed to be traded? I'm going to assume he has to be cleared for it to be official. Kind of a weird wrench in the plan but it has to be close to two weeks by now since he was positive. Unless he got a severe case of it and it takes longer to get a negative result. Of course if we simply cut him we may be able to do that? I'm just thinking from a trade perspective. Weird times we live in lol.
Not sure thats something to find out. Anybody use Twitter to ask Jourdan?

He is a vested veteran (4+ yrs). He is not subject to waivers. He gets an outright release.

He doesn’t occupy a roster spot right not so not sure we have to cut him or trade him right now. But when he’s able to come off the list a move will need to be made.

This is a tough one. Like everyone else, love the guy and am not really worried about the money, since if they keep him, they'll ask him to restructure, which he will. He's as good as I've ever seen, and has the added skill as aQB.
OTTH, if his skills are diminishing, and/or he wants to reunite with his bros, we'd still be in pretty good shape.
Still rather keep him.

I think, generally, that if you have a player that is probably going to make the Hall of Fame you probably shouldn't let him go unless you're either well compensated or it's really clear he's dropped off in ability. I'm not sure that Hekker has lost any ability and I don't think we get anywhere near what he's worth if we manage to trade him so I think it's a bad idea. Also, this new punter was inconsistent enough he didn't make his last team vs someone that has been consistently one of the best punters for years. I think it's a bad idea and I will be disappointed if we let Hekker go.

The fact that Hekk hasn't been moved to Dallas makes me wonder if Jerry Jones has decided to play hardball with that late round pick.

If that's the case here's hoping Hekk doesn't clear waivers and ends up with another team. Then Jones can enjoy watching his shitty fucking punter he convinced himself was good enough crap his pants every time they're backed up and he has to kick.
