Gurley is mentioning June 1st perhaps that's what it says in his contract. That being said these quotes from one of the articles about it from Gurley pretty much explains possibly why he was cut. Yes his knee is less than perfect but the rams still could have run him into the ground to get there money's worth. That being said wether it's anger or not this sums it up in a nutshell. The exact truth hopefully comes out but what do the exteammates and friends have to do with it?

“I still ain’t got my money, so it’s really, forget the Rams right now. I don’t even care about them,” he said on Uninterrupted. “I told my ex-teammates that they can’t even text me or call me until I get my money. As soon as I get my money, then I’ll be cool with everybody else.”
I don’t know what their reason is. And the worst thing about it is they know they have to pay me too,” he said. “Apparently probably just using the COVID thing as an excuse. Or they probably ain’t got no money to be paying anybody. They’ve got that stadium being built right now. All I know is, come June 1st, I better have my money.”

Dude is bitter!!!

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what is Gurley going to be doing with the extra couple million??? Is he feeding his hometown? I remember him being a standup guy before he blew his knee out with us. I also remember him saying during a press conference that he doesn't associate with people who don't pay mind to their hometowns.

I just think we should give everyone the benefit of the doubt until this is resolved.

I don't really care exactly what Todd Gurley is saying, but the fact that he's saying anything means he needs to shut the hell up and show some class in my humble opinion.

Add my name to those who don’t want Gurley to take Akers “under his wing.”

Gurley says he wants to show Akers how to “maximize his business opportunities,” not how to be a good teammate or a better player.

Come on it's a business and this is the only serious money these guys will ever make.

Says who though? Do you have a copy of the contract? We don't know that which is why I repeatedly said I would stay away from saying who is right or wrong.

What I take issue with is the comments the portrayal of the rams being deadbeats and the tarnishing of the team that rewarded his ass before they were supposed to publicly when there may be no justification for it. Let alone his dumbass comments about teammates in jist or not still sound dumb as a rock.

If he is right then his agent or him would put something of substance out to the media. I mean wt does he have to lose he already looks like a petty petulant bitter child.

And again so we are clear I've said it in about 100 posts if details come out that rams shafted him id be the first to admit that the rams were shitty for doing that but I'm not jumping all over the rams without having facts. Unfortunately Gurley is jumping all over them and that's his right but he has no proof either so why would anyone side with him?

So the rams pay him early reward him with a huge contract to do right by him and now they decide to become a penny pinching sketchy cheap organisation??? Something is weird there don't u think but again hopefully the truth comes out.

Lastly if the rams did miss a date or are hiding behind covid or flat broke cause they built a stadium as Gurley puts it then covid or no covid any good agent/lawyer still would file the grievance so when the time comes there is a paper trail of the dates missed money not paid etc. if it should go that far. Yet gurleys camp has done none of that using a poor ass lazy excuse that with covid the grievances don't matter. If the rams have bad intentions all that paperwork would matter.

Bottom line right or wrong it's classless to take it public I'm glad the rams choose the high road for now though I do hope they say something at some point to set the record straight either take responsibility for holding his money unlawfully or say we were within our rights and now Todd's been paid. Good riddance!
If you’ve ever done any contracts in your professional life then you know there are deadlines not pay dates. His money has to be paid no later than June 1st or the Rams would be subjected to penalties.

Tbh neither party is wrong because technically they don’t have to pay till June 1st but what’s the reason?! Why withhold money they know they already have to pay. That’s classless and it definitely sets a bad precedent for the team.

Offset language of his contract has already been satisfied so once again why withhold payment because you can until June 1st. Even demoff said they have a specific date that the money HAS to be paid by. That means it’s a deadline and not his pay date. Really his money should have been paid to Him no later than when he signed and passed his physical with the falcons. Most teams pay out their money minus offset language or they request what they owe back from the player IE Calvin Johnson and the Lions.

Point is to have 2 players not paid isn’t a good look no matter how you cut it. And one is actually filing a grievance so obviously the players union isn’t happy about it either

So just cause I know my car payment is due on a certain date I should just pay it 3 weeks early cause I know it's due????
Let’s say you pay that same car off early you’d expect for the lein to be released immediately but I tell you I don’t have to release it until 3months later. Not that I can’t release it now but I just wanna hold on to it because legally I can. The Rams aren’t doing anything illegal but they are being petty by waiting to the last possible moment to pay the money

Fine, fair enough. Yeah, if Akers wants some connections re. endorsements, I can understand that.

But Gurley has shown enough bull crap lately to prove he’s a bad influence. Seriously. Gurley tweeted something like, “Yeah, I was a bad teammate except for the parties.” I just don’t want “under his wing” to mean he shows Akers all the best stripclubs and how to have a surly selfish attitude.

Given Gurley’s continued bitterness and resentment, gotta think McVay would prefer that Gurley stays away from current Rams players at this point.

Here’s an article I missed from earlier, shortly after his release, about Gurley being a “bad locker room presence”:

there'll be people far worse than gurley trying to get into akers' ear.

he's just got to be be better than that. guys more concerned about the off field stuff are the guys that become busts.

What makes you think I haven't written contracts number one but number two the contract exists for a reason and if the date is the 1st then that's when he gets his money.

Perhaps we should gather all the facts before assuming anything and if the rams are not obligated to pay until a certain date then they can pay on said date had the rams wanted to pay early from the kindness of their heart they might have, had he not gone to social media initially weeks ago and made it a media issue.

And if you have written contracts before then you know nothing is enforceable until the maturity date unless there is other language on it stipulating as much, so Gurley can suck a lemon!!!

The rams will pay upon the maturity date however for the 101th time if the rams are breaking the contract then the rams deserve what they get.

Really isn't difficult business is business and nobody pays bills early because it's the "right" thing to do. They pay bills when they are are due the amounts don't matter.

Besides we paid him early once before and we took a huge misstep please let's not argue or lonby over paying him early now. His money is due when it's due!

Understood.....however it is all about how the contract is written. Painting him a victim is sad man. So if you want good faith wouldn't you keep your mouth shut since the rams once showed you good faith when they handed you all that loot early ....come on man we have to be real about it. Good faith should be reciprocated if we want to play that game. Again I guess we agree to disagree.

Just like we don't know contract specifics we don't know if Gurley reached out and said hey man can you guys send my money out a bit early. Which speaks to your point but we don't have all the facts.

I dont care if its in the language or not. Its Busch league of the Rams. Get them paid and shut them the fuck up. That is the kind of shit that stops free agents from coming here.

But, that said, Fuck Gurley. That knobby kneed bitch owes us money. The way that salty bitch played. Fucked us out of a Super Bowl with that bull shit. I hope he snaps both ACLs on day one of camp. Fuckin prick.

When did it become bush league to follow contracts? Just like roster bonuses when they are due they are due nobody gets it early or late. The only reason why we are even talking about this is cause the pouty bitter bitch made it public along with Goldie locks!!!

Even though I'm a rams fan if the rams fucked up then I hope they get there ass sued lol but I'm doubting that's the case.

So he needs to pay him then right. There is absolutely no reason for the Rams not to have paid him his money yet. It should have been paid after he got signed by the falcons and passed his physical
Unless the contract calls for the money to be paid at a certain date and that date hasn't hit. Nobody here knows the details but people are coming down on both sides of the discussion as if they knew all the details.

Horse shit :) If it's in the contract then players know it's part of the deal. The fact is, and I'm repeating myself here, we don't know the details. But the Rams do and you'd think Gurley does through his agent. And they aren't on the same page for for the time being we'll just have to be bush league and not know the facts but make our assumptions.

It isn't and both sides expect the other to follow the contracts.

Im suprised no one has mentioned interest.

why would the Rams pay out 5 million early when they can keep it until its payout date and earn interest?

i dunno, maybe Im way off but seems logical to me.

Demoff even said we have a specific date that the money has to be paid by and we are following that. He could have said simply the money isnt due yet when it’s due he will get paid. He could have ended all of this with that statement but he know that they are just playing this loophole to hold out on paying him until the very end. Like I said it’s not illegal it’s just hella shady for a company to do that.

They don’t earn interest on that. If the Rams don’t pay Gurley by the first then Gurley would be getting interest and the Rams will be getting fined. They can pay Gurley any time they want but he Must be paid by the 1st

Right the thing is though it’s really not about getting his money early it’s more an ethics and integrity thing. The Rams could have paid him at anytime but they are using contract terms to hold out until THEY have to pay.!

at first I was just thinking like maybe they was waiting to see if he failed or passed his physical because that would determine how much they actually have to pay him. But now I don’t really get why they are waiting
