Smith ran a 5.22 40, had a 24" VJ, and a 8' BJ. All below average totals for the position at an average size (6'5, 309 lbs). The idea of this kid having great physical upside is a myth. I don't care what people thought at the time, the numbers say it's not true. The numbers do say that Robinson is a freak however, with great physical upside.Fair enough, but while you doubted Jason Smith at the time, a lot of experts didn't. And said similar things to what's being said now about Robinson. So that's why Smith comes up in comparison. If we draft Robinson, certainly we'll all hope the comparison is as baseless as you say.
Measurables are not the end all, be all of being a great O-lineman, but if you're going to compare Robinson to another OT with "upside" who busted, could you guys please make sure that OT had actual upside and not just rumored upside. Thank you.
