With the exception of the pick which was bad, Goff played a great game. Numberous 3rd down conversions under intense pressure which pin point accuracy.

We need Akers and Whitworth, Goff can't do everything and right now he has a weak online putting everything on him.

We usually run behind Whitworth at the goal line but Noteboom can't get that type of push and Higbee was like a high school kid blocking.

Just stop lol.. a "Great Game"

I don't blame goff for this loss... and he did make a few good throws on third down - but he also threw a horrible pass to jefferon on 3rd down that prob would have been a 15 yard gain if it was a good pass.... jefferson might have been able to catch it, but he would have gotten no RAC and it would have been short of the 1st down.

In no world anywhere close to reality did Goff have a great game.

Your "if, then" statement doesn't even make sense. Fisher gets zero credit for what the Rams are doing right now. Fisher got the credit for drafting AD. He also got the blame for his shitty ass offenses. And then he got fired. McVay is the HC. He gets the credit and the blame for what the entire team does. As for us having a championship caliber team, we were two Cooks catches from winning a Super Bowl with McVay, so I call bullshit.
I am not trying to pick a fight so let us leave it here.

Sincerely, wishing you and yours a Happy New Year.

If this thread needs to be moved to the vent thread, or locked, so be it.

I just gotta say... that INT that Goff threw today was the worst pass I’ve ever seen him make. Ever.

Something broke in me after watching that play. It’s like when you have a girlfriend... and she does something awful or stupid or disappointing... and you just know at that moment that the relationship is over. You just can’t get past it. You gotta break up with her.

For Goff to do something THAT dumb... when you know that his coaches have been brow-beating him with the “ball security” message over and over... it’s just freaking unforgivable. It makes me worry he’ll NEVER “get it.”

Hate to say I totally agreed with Aikman’s analysis. Aikman basically said, “As long as the Rams don’t turn the ball over, they’re really hard to beat.”

A this point, pretty much the only reason I MIGHT be ok with Goff as the 2021 QB is the Rams might not have much of a choice re. the cap. His salary right now is for me the ONLY reason for keeping him. I hate the idea of the Rams eating ANOTHER huge cap hit like they did with Cooks and Gurley.

Important disclaimer: I have been a HUGE Goff fan from before Day 1, even before the lead-up to the draft. I have always been one of those “rah rah positivity” guys with Goff. I still think he has tons of natural talent. And I have stubbornly defended him, always.

But that pick today... something broke in me. Feels like it’s over.

The announcers have BEEN WAYYYY too critical of Goff all season. By chance or coincidence or conspiracy, whatever it is, they nitpick his every mistake and then don't say anything of the sort when the same thing happens to opposing QBs.

Doesn't that drive any of you crazy?
Do you even notice?

Its because they are lazy and like to get on an easy narrative and ride it like a horse until it gives out.

ehh i dont really notice... i notice goff, the oline and hte offense playing like shit though.

Can’t say I disagree but our 30 mill a year plus QB is attached to us until pretty much 2023 until we can let him go. He’s not as bad as Wentz to want to get rid of but not that good where we are confident in him as the starter. As of today you can tell McVay isn’t confident in him either.

maybe his thumb was actually broken at the beginning of the game?

that would explain that throw.
What killed it for me wasn’t the throw itself, it was the CHOICE he made.

He easily could have picked up a few yards by running up the sideline, or he could have easily thrown the ball away. But he CHOSE to throw across his body, into the heart of the D, he lobbed it up with plenty of air beneath it. Just an awful, unforgivably bad decision.

Dude I feel you. Today was the first time I got my girl to watch a game with me. She did so because she is tentatively becoming a seahag fan because they are the closest team to us in Portland and I am trying to get her to watch football. She is from Mexico and I always tell her about Vamos Rams and the Rams mariachi band to show her she would be betraying her people if she rooted for the seaturds lol But what the hell was I supposed to say when our QB makes THAT decision in front of her eyes....like...thanks for dooming me to eternal division with my girl Goof...wtf was that pass....just run for a few yards...the whole thing was BS. He needs to go man...he needs to go. (Disclaimer: High state of emotion post a shit loss gives me the right to reverse this comment lol)

And they have been. All of them.

But .. the announcers have been over the top persistent about one of those things, to the point of being obnoxious. Goff gets sacked because the line sucked? You wouldn't know that Goff didn't just stand there. Somebody gets both hands on a ball that wasn't perfect, its all about the throw. The huddle breaks late and we get a delay- "he has to be more aware" instead of "plays coming in late like usual".
Some guys are better than others. Some are more nuanced but really, its been getting noticeably nitpicky for things that really don't deserve it.

His play tonight? One awful pick, otherwise he battled through tough circumstances and did his job. Yet every opportunity to criticize anything he did was taken, worthy or not.

That was the play where he lost my confidence. But shit happens. He'll be back either this year or next year. I hope he gets it figured out. The hero ball needs to stop.

Even a broken thumb does not forgive that DUMB play. Maybe if you told me he tried bull riding for the first time and got a concussion before the game I could forgive it lol

The only thing I saw was Robert Woods sneaking in, but that's really reaching.

But yeah that sucked all the air out of me. And then Russell and his rushing TD soon after happened. Gross.

To his credit, Goff acknowledges it was incredibly dumb, and one of the worst passes of his career.

But still.

Well, great he knows it was dumb...just like a lot of plays he has made this year. How do you stop being dumb Jarred! Do that...I don't want any apologies but those shown to me on the field!

I didn't see the game but saw that pick and that's how I feel, it's not the throw it's the CHOICE. I mean, fucking seriously, what could've POSSIBLY gone through his mind? You can EASILY pick up a few yards in the ground or simply throw the ball away. I mean, what in God's name did he see it what triggered him to make that throw? Just unbelievable and unforgiving.

I've had a hunch the last few weeks that McVay is calling the game so vanilla because Goff has become, simply, a liability. I mean, he can't even make the simplest decision to NOT turn the ball over there.

Goff has some alarmingly bad habits and he's regressing at an alarming rate.

Some Goff apologists on here are completely delusional lol. I like the positivity but at this point Stevie Wonder can see how limited Goff is as a QB when plays go off script
