Watkins is one of those guys who makes a “business decision “ not to play if he wakes up and his ass hurts.

No thanks.

If we're talking Sammy, I'm pretty certain he did that a few times with us and it really turned me off on him

That is may well be true, but if he can be had at a reasonable price, he knows the scheme, fixes our deep threat problem, and would not be relied upon to be the #1 WR. We'd have Kupp, Woods, and Jefferson (along with potentially a rookie Day 3 pick) with him in the WR rotation. He'd be a guy who would rotate in and out where needed. I think it makes sense to kick the tires and see what the price tag would be. At the end of the day, you accept he'll miss some games, but you're okay with that because he's fairly cheap and isn't "the guy" in our offense.

I do believe both Kupp and Woods were signed in Sept and the draft was in April. They were probably not sure they could sign them both. He has potential to be a starter in the future.
I said the management probably knew the were resigning both to long term contracts. So why draft a guy that at best is going to be #3 receiver in the 2nd round.

I want Corey Linley.
Well Maybe Goff can pony up and restructure if he wants to save his career.

I guarantee you Lindley would transform our offense.

With Brees retiring, Rodgers losing Lindley, Brady turning 60 and our Annual ass kicking of Seattle we will be back on top.

I dunno, I mean yeah, but he's gonna want a ton. That said, he's clearly the best FA and one of the best in the game.

I have a good feeling for Creed Humphries. Dude is a tank who just doesn't let big NTs walk him back. On several of his pass pro snaps, he hikes the ball, pops up and just stones the bull rushing NT. That's some shit right there. Both OGs get moved back, but not him. And with all the uncertainty of this draft, so many skill players are gonna be going early that a solid Center is gonna last until the early 3rd round.

Then it was a mistake to sign both after drafting Jefferson.

I can see keeping one, but not both. They needed a diff weapon. Whether it being a big physical receiver or better yet a speed guy, and in a perfect world a big physical spead guy like Metcalf.

IMO, Jon Feliciano is more likely in our price range, and I'd love for us to sign him. He can play any of the interior OL positions. He has played C and LG this year. He started every game last year for them at RG. He's 6'4" 325 pounds with a serious mean streak. The Bills signed him (and a couple others) after 2018 to help solidify that OL, and he has lived up to his contract. That's a dude who isn't getting blown off the ball at Center. And this article speaks glowingly about his work and film habits, communication skills, and leadership:

Would be a nice signing just wonder what he'll cost.

I don't know, if they knew they could sign both, they could have drafted a better fit than Jefferson. Unless McVay thinks he can be a deep threat.

I don't think comp picks will be an issue. We will be losing so many players and we won't sign any high end outside FAs that will offset losing JJ or Floyd.

So we will still get 4 comp picks. I am curious if the comp pick for Holmes counts among the 4 max comp picks for players. Normally teams can get no more than 4 comp picks and we will qualify for at least four with all the player departures.

Dug this up:

Holmes is a minority, so the Rams will now receive a third-round compensatory pick in both the 2021 NFL draft and the 2022 NFL draft for losing Holmes.

Those third-round picks will come after the compensatory picks that are awarded to teams for losing free agent players.
We don’t yet know how many third-round compensatory picks will be awarded for losing free agents, but if there were five regular third-round compensatory picks, those would be picks Nos. 97-101. Then the first compensatory pick for losing a minority player or executive would be No. 102.

Yep. About to turn 29. The thing is that with the cap dropping (it's unclear how far it'll drop), it's the mid-tier FAs who will get hit the hardest. The top guys are going to get paid their stack of cash by the rich teams. But the guys outside that tier who would normally get themselves nice paydays from teams that miss out on the top FAs are going to be hurting. I bet you a lot of guys take one year deals because the cap should jump significantly with the new TV deals just around the bend. I think that could be to our benefit with a guy like Feliciano. I am thinking he can be had for somewhere in the range of $5 million to $7 million per year.

Can we make that work? It'll depend on how far the cap falls. I fully expect us to push money into future years so that we can put enough talent on the field to compete next year. We have a window. How might you structure a one year deal with Feliciano to make it work? You use void years in the future to space the signing bonus.

Let's say we give him a deal with a max value of $7 million. Give him $1.5 million in incentives. That leaves the $5.5 million to be allocated. This is how you can do it:
Year 1: $1 million base and $1.5 million signing bonus
Year 2: $0 base and $1.5 million signing bonus
Year 3: $0 base and $1.5 million signing bonus

Basically, we've given him a one year deal worth $7 million in "max value" with $4.5 million in guaranteed cash (or $5.5 million if we guarantee the base salary too). He gets paid the $4.5 million upfront, but because of the voided future years, $3 million of that isn't on our books in 2021. What's our cap hit in 2021? It's $2.5 million. Although, it could jump to as much as $4 million if he earns his incentives at the end of the year.

JJ is gone.

Assuming Floyd, Ebukam, and Hill too.

I hope we re-sign Fox. Defensive depth chart still looks decent:

DL - AD, Brock, SJD, Robinson, Fox (hopefully), Gaines, Obo, Lewis, Hollins

LB - Kiser, Howard, Reeder, Young

DBs - Ramsey, Williams, Long, Deayon, Fuller, Burgess, Rapp, Scott

On the surface youd like EDGE, LB and CB - but given our limited funds, I'd rather put everything into the offense - above would still be an above average unit

not digging our ILB corp. Kiser could be #2. Reeder is a solid #3. Howard is an unknown. Young is a disappointment.
