JJ is gone.

Assuming Floyd, Ebukam, and Hill too.

I hope we re-sign Fox. Defensive depth chart still looks decent:

DL - AD, Brock, SJD, Robinson, Fox (hopefully), Gaines, Obo, Lewis, Hollins

LB - Kiser, Howard, Reeder, Young

DBs - Ramsey, Williams, Long, Deayon, Fuller, Burgess, Rapp, Scott

On the surface youd like EDGE, LB and CB - but given our limited funds, I'd rather put everything into the offense - above would still be an above average unit
JJ was gone after the last two drafts with Rapp, Fuller and Burgess

Unfortunately, I think that’s correct. I like the other safeties but Johnson is a favorite of mine.

Hate losing a talented player, entering his prime years, who was a terrific draft choice. Four years is just not enough but it’s the business and reality of the game.

Was watching the first Seattle game yesterday (Week 9 victory). There was that end-around hand-off to Woods where he took on a DB at the sideline instead of stepping out. Only netted one additional yard but the Rams’ sideline exploded because of Woods’ physicality and passion. This was after the awful Miami game. The Rams were 5-3 and Seattle was 6-2.

There were two Rams’ defenders on the sideline that were the most excited and demonstrative ... Brockers and Johnson.

I hate the idea of losing those two guys ... potentially Brockers for cap relief.

This as they say is the nature of the beast. We can only pay so many players and with people wanting to move on from Goff's contract already it's going to make matters worse after the Cooks and Gurley messes we made. Hard enough retaining good young talent but it's impossible when you devote $38 million to dead contracts.

Would it have really been that difficult to just lie a little and assure me ‘all is well’ and ‘everything will be ok’.

Everything will be ok it always is! But we have to live with pain sometimes my friend. Like the Red Sox signing Enrique Hernandez! The banana man himself is gone.

Yeah, this year is going to be a hard one. Going to lose the good ones we have (save maybe - maybe - 2 of them) and we're not going to be able to acquire anybody, what with the cap going down 23 million because of Wuhan. But that's just how the league is - make enough bad financial decisions (and Snead has made a lot of them the last couple of years) and it comes back to bite you hard.

I hope the Rams learn. For the mega contracts make them heavily incentive based (player performance controls) with adjustments for injury (players cannot control). Those that rise to the occasion deserve the full bounty. Those that do not are compensated to their performance level.

That sounds good but probably does not work unless other teams do the same.

I love Jon Johnson, but he can be replaced by safeties already on the roster without a significant loss of talent, IMO. Floyd, on the other hand, cannot be replaced so easily. The rest of the free agents... I'd like to keep a few (Morgan Fox), but the rest can be replaced.

When you draft a bunch of good players then you will ultimately lose some good ones as well.

not digging our ILB corp. Kiser could be #2. Reeder is a solid #3. Howard is an unknown. Young is a disappointment.

I'm not either but assuming we can't get Scherf and a nice WR via free agency, we have to devote every single resource to the offense. Can't afford to spend an early pick on defense

I'd flip that. There's a chance JJ is the best safety in the league and he was our playcaller. Floyd would be more replaceable - next EDGE who has disappointed, come on down! You're the next contestant on "please make me millions Mr. Donald!"

We actually have talent at safety. At edge though... It's gonna be a problem. Remove Floyd and you have a ragtag band of guys who cycle in there but aren't really difference makers.

If somehow they can lock Floyd up it's going to help a lot. Franchise tag is $17M. Transition is $15M. Both seem too steep but since cap never seems to stop anyone from doing what they want who knows.

I know I am dreaming but is there any reasonable possibility of the Rams re-signing Leonard Floyd? Would be thrilled if the Rams could re-sign him at a REASONABLE PRICE!!!

I just hope they don't cut Michael Brockers in an attempt to keep Floyd. I'd rather pay Brockers 10 million than pay Floyd 15. That's just me though. And I believe they are stuck with Ashawn Robinson at 10 mill per year. With the growth of Sebastion Joseph-Day and even Greg Gaines, the Rams look deep in the interior d-line.

JJ sounds bitter that the team didn't sign him already.

Not necessarily bitter, just not under contract for the first time in his career. Kinda like being fired.

I'm not going to give up hope that Clowney agrees to sign here on a 1 year prove it deal, seeing as how playing with Donald has gotten edge players paid the following year.

It sounds like he wanted to come back and is hurt that the Rams didn't sign him early like they have done for a few other players.
