Let's take a look at our own guys here for starters. I've marked this up but some of these guys might surprise depending on what they're seeking as a price...

If you had told me last year that I'd have Hill as a maybe... I'd tell you you're fuckin crazy. But the guy played well for us and that is always my bottom line. He knows the defense. Probably a FA loss but think the Rams may try to lock him up if they can get him at a good rate.

From there Rivers showed some things and I'd like to retain him. Fox too though he's probably another FA loss.

IMO Williams has a good chance to be signed away but if that happens we get a pick so not gonna sweat it. I prefer they avoid locking him up early in fact I think Demoff needs to man slap himself or whoever comes to his office next time it is suggested we sign someone a year or two early. You don't pay these fuckers until you need to. That's the best way forward IMO.

Anyway. Most of these guys are no big deal, JAG types can be replaced without too much effort you aren't gonna feel their absence too badly. Blythe helps us walkin out that door he's been a crutch IMO and a bad one at that.

What it looks like to me here is that we're gonna need all our picks just to help cover the roster losses. We'll probably see a UDFA or two make it too. But either way we are about to lose a ton of players.

We'll put a first or second round tender on Williams, and he'll stay. I'd let Hill walk. We can't afford JJ or Floyd imo. Bring back the ERFAs. See what Fox's market is. Bring back Mundt at the NFL minimum. Let the others go.

As for other team's FAs, here are my top targets:
1. Larry Warford OG - He won't cost us a comp pick and might be willing to sign for a reasonable one year deal after opting out of the 2020 season. We'll need to make sure he has kept in shape, but he is an OG who went to three straight Pro Bowls over his last three years. Very good player. Would be like getting Saffold back.

2. Preston Smith EDGE - Green Bay may cut him because Gary broke out and they need to save money. Smith is a good all around edge player who had a down year after putting up 12.5 sacks in 2019. He's another guy who might be willing to sign on a reasonable one year deal in hopes of juicing his sack numbers playing across from Donald. He also wouldn't cost us a comp pick.

3. Tyus Bowser EDGE - He would factor into the comp pick formula, but he won't be too expensive. I like his game. Assuming the new DC runs a defense like Staley's, I think Bowser's versatility fits well here and that he could prove to be a real bargain when given a full-time role. Has shown a lot of flashes and is quite athletic.

4. Jon Feliciano OL - He's not on Warford's level, but he's a solid starting OL who can play any of the interior OL spots. He helped solidify the Bills OL and played both RG and C for them. He's a very physical and nasty guy who won't get pushed around like Blythe. He should be reasonably priced, but he will factor into the comp pick formula.

5. Alex Anzalone ILB - Has had durability issues during his career, but he's a big and athletic LB who has played the Sam LB spot for the Saints. I think he'll be rather cheap due to his injury history and not great production, but like Bowser, I think he has a lot of upside in the right scheme. He'll factor into the comp pick formula.

6. Jarrad Davis ILB - He flashed some good things with Detroit, but Patricia wasn't a fan of his. He is fast and hits quite hard, but he has some M2M coverage limitations, isn't the most reliable of tacklers, and can play recklessly. Still, there's a fair bit of upside here if we can get him in the right scheme and role. Should be cheap. He will also factor into the comp pick formula.

7. Kyler Fackrell EDGE - He's a really solid all around player. He isn't a game changer, but he can pick up some sacks if you scheme him into it (assignment sound guy with good athleticism and technique). He can also set the edge and drop into coverage. Fits well if we keep a scheme like Staley's. Should be relatively cheap but will factor into the comp pick formula.

8. Benardrick McKinney ILB - The Texans may cut him to save on cap. Coming off a shoulder injury, I think we could land him on a reasonable one year deal. He's a massive man who defends the run extremely well and can drop into zone coverage effectively. Has M2M limitations. Good fit in a scheme like Staley's. He won't factor into the comp pick formula.

Those are some guys off the top of my head that could make sense for us. Obviously, we'd only sign one to three of these guys, not all of them.

The Rams have definitely focused on maximizing their comp pick returns so I'm sure they'll look hard at him.

For myself I want Scherff. I've wanted that dude forever. Realize there's little chance of it happening, from the Rams' cap space on to the comp formula, but I've always wanted him on our OL.

What I would do is trade Havenstein, move Edwards to RT, add Scherff at RG, move Corbett to LG, and draft a Center. Whit mans LT for now, and I'd address that in 2022's draft.

Yeah, I think Scherff would be hard to swing in terms of money and the comp pick formula. But I feel ya on that. I think if in shape, Warford is a comparable talent. I'd pursue him hard. We need a guy like him inside. As for drafting a Center, while it makes sense in theory, I have my doubts that McVay would start a rookie at that position.

I don't think comp picks will be an issue. We will be losing so many players and we won't sign any high end outside FAs that will offset losing JJ or Floyd.

So we will still get 4 comp picks. I am curious if the comp pick for Holmes counts among the 4 max comp picks for players. Normally teams can get no more than 4 comp picks and we will qualify for at least four with all the player departures.

Yeah Scherff and Thuney are gonna get paid. Also a cheaper option is Feiler (Steelers OG). Haven't watched too many of their games but at some point here soon I'll have all sorts of time to look at FAs we probably won't sign. :ROFLMAO:

Centers are a possibility too of course. Guys like Linsley (Packers C), Andrews (Patriots C), and Reiter (Chiefs) are noteworthy.

Feliciano can also play Center. He's a big boy at 6'4" 325. He won't be getting pushed around like Blythe.

Just wondering what's "JAG" under market value?

Thanking you in advance for your reply!

That's the old Parcells term for guys who are replaceable. JAGs are the types who fill the roster and don't move that needle which means replacing them is rather easy.

SF have up a 2nd round pick. He wanted to play out his contract. I'm pretty sure they will resign him-Trent Williams and keep McGlinchey on the ROT.

Ah. I searched Parcells with JAGs and found out it means "Just A Guy"!

Abso-freakin-lutely. Please.

I think he's the one guy who makes perfect sense. We just have to hope he's in shape. Doesn't cost us a comp pick. Has been one of the NFL's best run blocking OGs and is also a good pass protector. Because he sat the year out, he likely won't have the market that Thuney and Scherff do. I'm thinking we could land him on a 1 year deal worth up to $10 million (with incentives). Pay him a nearly guaranteed $7 million with a nice signing bonus. Spread the signing bonus over three years like we did with Floyd to reduce the cost. It would be like getting Saffold back.
