Von is teasing a DEN return.

IF he leaves, we traded a 2nd and a 3rd for 2/3 of a season and he was pivotal in our SB win.

But, damn, that'd hurt.
It’s the sunk cost fallacy that the Rams need to sign him because of what they paid for him. Von may or may not get the money he wants but I don’t think he is a priority.
Lock up Stafford and Donald, figure out the o-line and then see what’s left.

How many teams have:
QB as good as Stafford?
WR as good as Kupp?
DL as good as Donald?
CB as good as Ramsey?
Those players are elite (yes I think we have tapped into an elite QB) and cost $$$ to retain. There is only so much other $$$ to go around. That is the price of an elite roster that I believe the majority of Rams fans would be willing to pay.

I agree to that. Just seems like such a steep price to pay for what, 12 games? But I DEFINITELY don't want the Rams to overpay. And know they're smart enough not too. Plenty of options in FA to help us rush the passer.

Very true but Von is a different level of rusher..hes truly elite and was elite for years before ever playing next to AD. AD has never played with anyone like him. Not to mention how Von helped bring out AD's voice and leadership which we haven't really seen before this year. Any OLB will put up stats and sack numbers playing next to AD. But Von can be counted on to win when it matters most, on those critical downs in critical moments. I mean look at the playoffs. Whereas if Floyd went to another team away from AD he would have like 4 sacks a year. Same with Fowler. There's just levels to this shit and I dont think we should let Von walk out the door IMO.
I don't disagree. But I also hope they don't get dragged into an overpay. And know they're smart enough not too.

More than one way to skin a cat.
If Von wants $17 M (or whatever)....I just can't see it.
Use that money to resign two or maybe all three O lineman.....or not.
Not paying one guy that much money opens a lot of other possibilities.

I am just throwing this out there because I have not seen it mentioned recently.

There has been a lot of Von Miller discussion; and reference to the Rams trading second and third round draft choices for half a season and post-season.

Despite all their re-structures, the Rams were really tight against the cap at the time of the trade. Miller had $9.7M of salary due him for the remainder of 2021, post-trade. The Rams did not have the cap space. As part of the deal, Denver paid (and took the cap hit) for $9M out of that $9.7M. So Miller only counted for $722,000 of the Rams' cap this past season.

My best guess is that the Rams had to add one of those draft choices to make this cap-hit-arrangement, and finalize the trade. Whether it was the second or third round pick, who knows?

The Rams won the Super Bowl; and Miller was a huge contributor. The picks are the final selections in Rounds Two and Three (#64 and #96 overall). If Miller is priced-out of whatever the Rams budgeted to re-sign him, that budgeted number can (and will) be applied to another player(s).

I would like for the Rams to retain Von Miller but I am good with things as they are.
The Rams are Super Bowl Champions for just the 2nd-time in 56 years ... and I've been around for 52 of them.
Yeah, I'm good.

Edge rushers are so important in this defense. First year we put an elite rusher next to AD we win a super bowl. Defensive line and pass rush dominated against AZ, against Brady, closed out the SF game, closed out the SB. There's no way that happens without Von. Im not trying to shit on Floyd, he's a nice player. But no way should he be making $20M as an OLB. And there's no world where I would keep him over Von. I think Flo has too much dead $ to move anyways so doubt that's an option, but just reinforcing my point that when you pay good players elite money it handcuffs you. If we lose Von because Floyd is making $20M already that is such a travesty.
Floyd is fine. He isn't Von but few are. Dude had a great season and playoffs and can be restructured.

Fans overlook his impact vs opposing run games. And he gets pressures on top of that. He is making his coin IMO.

Thanks for bringing the money portion of that trade back into view. Those details and the position of the picks that were traded make having Miller for the Super Bowl win a bargain.

Let’s face it. Von Miller transformed our D once his ankle healed.

For the 1st time we saw what AD and Floyd could bring to this D front, not to mention Gaines and ARob.

The pass rush became ferocious and the run D smothering. Hell, the Ram secondary benefited, too.

Miller Will Not come cheap, but when one considers how he enhances the effectiveness of the other 10 players on every snap… Man, that is VALUE.

I hope that Rams make every possible effort to extend Miller. He is truly a difference maker on the field and a huge positive effect off the field and in the locker room.

Might not quite be a ‘must have’ but is definitely a VERY strong ‘want’.

Looking for two things from the Rams in the next few days.

An announcement from Whitworth; and a Team announcement regarding the up-dated Coaching Staff.

Would expect both before the end of the weekend.

I have quite a track-record on such predictions ... between 21%-to-22%.

She's the absolute best follow on twitter for Rams stuff and just life stuff. It seems the people pushing for the Rams to draft a fullback are already hitting up mamma Snead on twitter :D
