Do you think Noteboom is still the left tackle of the future?

I was just thinking about how we may draft given how our team is pretty talented top to bottom, but we have several linemen due for new contracts. Noteboom is one of them. He'll be a free agent after this season and Whitworth is getting old. Scratch that; he's old now lol. But I remember Noteboom filling in well when Whitworth was hurt.

I thought that drafting the left tackle of the future was important but maybe Noteboom gets a cheap extension to be the successor. What say you?

I think we would be crazy NOT to draft another LT for the upcoming season, just to compete for the future starter/back-up roles.

Question is can we live w/ Noteboom's piss poor run blocking? Come playoff time the good teams will take avg of us and shift over on run downs. Just my two cents

I hope not. I'd prefer a more complete left tackle. Joe did good in pass blocking but he still is a lousy run blocker. It would suck to go back to only being able to run to one side. The offense looked so much better with Whitworth playing. I'd like to see the Rams shoot for a guy like him over settling on a one dimensional tackle

How much would they have to pay Noteboom? If he hits free agency then its a good chance the Rams won't want to outbid for his services a la Blythe, unless he doesn't get good offers. I'm hoping Brewer comes in this summer showing that he could take over at OLT if needed.

Seemed like Boom was pretty average.

I'm hoping they back up the Brinks truck for a vet LT next year

How many starts has he had at LT, how many snaps not spent at LG ?
Give the kid a chance at least.

Yeah - right in your opinion

Imo- I don’t think that is or was the question.I also don’t see The Rams drafting a OT in 2021. Especially with
Chandler Brewer coming back.

That’s what makes 2021 such a good season upfront for The Rams. Whitworth is coming back.

Just reflecting back to 2020. STILL THE FREAKING SAME S””T AROUND here every offseason.

I’ll just say again I’m a HUGE Joe Noteboom FAN !! I’ll to Soul Surfer with Austin Blythe saying he was the biggest Blythe Fan. LMAO
Saying The Rams now need to go a different direction??

My point is The Rams depth. I’ve watched Noteboom & the type of player he was in 2020.

All I'm saying is, can he get to average in run blocking. I would be fine w/ that. He's really bad at holding his run blocks. Might be a balance issue.

If we even want to make this a post,I’ll continue to play.

I’ve been wrong & my opinion changes each season. As well as during the season.I try to draw from
that as a Rams Fan. My info & view of players is limited. We don’t know exactly what goes on behind closed doors.

Just stating I thought Noteboom was going to play LG for Edwards.Never thought Bobby Evans would start ahead of him. Still think Joe Noteboom works hard & has nice upside still. He showed me such toughness in 2020.

I've been huge in his corner since drafted like most Rams players. But my issue with him is the old saying "the best ability is availability" He's injured too much I'm all in for a replacement this year or the next.

Haven't all his injuries been sustained as a LG ? He's like the opposite of Saffold who got all his early injuries playing LT, but once moved to LG he was fine. Not really enough snaps at LT for Noteboom to give us much of an accurate measure for whether it will be a problem. jmo.

I'd rather prep him to play RT and draft/sign a better LT. But he's not better than Hav right now and Hav is just average himself. So that should say everything you need to know. With the Goff and Gurley dead $ coming off the books next year, and the salary cap going back up in 2022...I bet next offseason we spend big on a LT. Because this is likely Whits last year.

Possible he stays healthy? Worth the risk? I'd rather move on he hasn't shown he can stay healthy or be good at LG and he's been ok at LT but not worth the risk IMO plus rather reset with new talent and a new contract than paying him a 2nd contract (2nd part of that bigger emphasis than the 1st).

They can't operate under the assumption that he is, so I'd imagine we draft a tackle at some point.

In fact, with the Rams penchant for drafting to replace FAs next year, it's worth looking at key players who are FAs next year:

D Williams
SJD
Corbett
Kiser

Obo
Noteboom
Young
Allen
Lawler
Mundt

There's really no replacing Williams - we drafted Long with a day 2 pick and it hasn't worked out - that's not to say we won't draft a CB, but I wouldn't prioritize it. I'd focus on extending him now.

Obo, Young, Allen, Lawler and Mundt are non factors and easy to replace, maybe with guys already on the roster or UDFAs.

That leaves SJD, Kiser, Corbett and Noteboom. We're going to draft at least two offensive linemen this year, so that's covered. SJD is the type of player we don't re-sign, and Gaines would be able to take over - depth may be needed now though.

This should bump ILB up the list of needs too. So my priorities would now be:

OL
ILB
OL
WR
DL
WR

Then free agents to compete at EDGE, TE and CB for depth

Another season with Andrew Whitworth will only make him better.

I don’t give A F””” what Fans around here think Negative About him. I’ll continue to cheer (root) my AZZ OFF for him.

What he has shown me as a Ram is
more than toughness & determination .I will not doubt him again & in fact go all in the other way.
I’ll say he becomes A starter in 2021.

If not from GAME 1 it will be game 17,18, & hopefully helping The Rams win The SuperBowl.

For whatever it’s worth F” next season.
It’s about 2021. I don’t know what the future holds. Big Rob Havenstien is still a wild card to me.Let’s see what
The draft & OTA’s are looking like.Things will start to really playout.

The Rams have a new Offensive Line coach & I’m going to be LMAO at the position Sean Mcvay will be in-during
THE PRESEASON!!!!!

Talk then for beginners
You’ll have a better
Clue.
I’ll add The Rams will have salary cap
space next season. My Hope as of now is Noteboom signs an extension & Havenstien is still the starting RT ?

Imo That is FREAKING DUMB to think.
I know Bonyifyd correct me a little with WR. Still I love Depth. I still say a WR in the 3rd rd. Maybe not with the 1st 3rd rd pick. Still though just like in 2020 & looking back at 2017 The Rams have done well. Jefferson & T. Lewis. Then Everett,JJ Kupp..

Point being The Rams are The Youngest team in The NFL. Always
Top 5 & I’m sure over McVays HC career. The Rams have YOUNG depth at OFFENSIVE LINE.

My questions is what Rams are getting cut ? Is Austin Blythe signing with another NFL team ? How many Offensive Lineman on the 53? That’s just to start. How will any off The Rams Offensive Lineman play. Who are your starters ? How will these draft picks fit in ?
