i didnt hear anyone reporting he was being a cancer anywhere.
I think most of us are "reading between the lines" here. Yes, on paper, the Rams are a worse team without DJax. They lose a very talented deep receiver who was excellent insurance against injury to any of the top 3. (Not to mention he could have been a weapon as a PR.) And the cap savings of waiving him are pretty minimal.

So the only logical explanation for the move is that his attitude was actively harming the team. There's no other explanation that makes much sense, IMHO.

I'm very disappointed in D Jackson. I was totally on board that he wanted to win back home in LA. I understand being unhappy about not playing much but, he should have played and hoped a deal could have been made. He was an injury away from getting more PT.

It's funny how I thought Jackson was insurance for Atwell taking time to develop while Atwell was insurance for Jackson getting injured. Now, neither will contribute to the Rams winning for the rest of the season.

Oh well next men up. Benny Skow and Harris look promising and want to play for the Rams.

skow is not a return man though... we have such dogshit return skills

I dunno what happened, but DeSean seems too connected to his status and if you look at the rest of the WR room, it's super unselfish.

Who gives up a legit chance for a ring for something like 20 catches? I think THAT put McVay off... you gotta read the room... this team is as committed as ever to winning the Super Bowl in our house.

But now that the trade deadline has passed, they can't use any cap savings to sign anyone new (except maybe an unsigned vet or maybe a scrub from another team's practice squad). From a pure $ to talent ratio, doesn't seem to me that waiving DJax helps the Rams much in 2021. And they're certainly not focused on saving $ for the future... clearly they want to maximize every possible asset for a run THIS year.

Just my opinion of course... just sure sounds to me like Rams wouldn't have waived DJax if he was a true team player, he was clearly a valuable asset.

I think they traded him after the deadline because there's an inkling that DJax's team had worked something out with a team, but that relied on him being waived.

So the Rams are like, "oh really... well, released after 1pm so now he's got to clear waivers"

Typically, they release guys early or find good teams to trade guys to, but this move looks to me to be a bit different.

If Jackson was indeed willing to stay, it is very interesting to me.

Says A LOT about McVay and the Rams' Leadership. I mean that as a huge positive.

Says that the "We Not Me" is not just a cute little saying but a real thing because I thought Jackson's speed and deep-play ability helped them and is not duplicated with other receivers on the roster. Just one injury, and Jackson could have been valuable. Furthermore, if he winds-up with a top-NFC-contender, that could come-back to bite the Rams in-the-butt.

Regardless of whether what I wrote in the previous paragraph is accurate, if the Rams' Leadership is truly Team-1st, then I like the decision to release him because it does send a clear (and great) message to the roster ... which is mostly young.

Again, just don't want to see DeSean Jackson on an NFC Contender.
Agree with this post 100%.

The "we not me" isn't just a slogan. McVay takes it seriously and is willing to make hard choices to preserve that winning culture.

Love the story about how Woods and Kupp have a friendly weekly competition based on "points", and points for a "good block" are equal to points for a "good catch." Completely unselfish players.

I strongly suspect that McVay had a heart-to-heart meeting with Kupp, Woods, and Jefferson. I bet he asked them to be honest about whether DJax was capable of being a team player. And I bet their answers were a big part of McVay's decision.

Jourdan suggested that it wasn't even playing time per se that he wanted, he wanted "targets." Which would point to an even bigger headache.

Jackson didn't sign and wouldn't have signed with the Rams to be a reserve. Jackson is healthy, still has speed, and showed early in the season that he could get open deep. It turned out that McVay didn't need him for the offense to succeed and didn't direct plays to him. The situation just didn't work out.

But so what? Why does this make Jackson the fall guy?

Jackson has been a great receiver and competitor. He can still play. Can't blame him for wanting to have the chance to do that while he still can instead of sitting on the bench or playing decoy. Seems to me Stafford wanted out of Detroit in order to have a better opportunity too.

Jackson's poor approach about targets certainly came with some bad timing when it's only a couple days later that Atwell went down to injury. I imagine if TuTu had been injured first, Jackson probably doesn't step on his own tongue quite so fast.
jmo.
