On that point, you think there's any chance that his desire for targets made him a less than willing blocker? IDK what his blocking is normally like, but I'm going to bet it wasn't good even during his prime. Now that he's older I bet he doesn't want to block at all. And if he won't block, that's bad news for the run game. And if he can't be used in the run game, then every time he's on the field it's a pass and the defense knows it.Agree with this post 100%.
The "we not me" isn't just a slogan. McVay takes it seriously and is willing to make hard choices to preserve that winning culture.
Love the story about how Woods and Kupp have a friendly weekly competition based on "points", and points for a "good block" are equal to points for a "good catch." Completely unselfish players.
I strongly suspect that McVay had a heart-to-heart meeting with Kupp, Woods, and Jefferson. I bet he asked them to be honest about whether DJax was capable of being a team player. And I bet their answers were a big part of McVay's decision.
I'm speculating that his lack of willingness to block played a large part in all this.
