Saints are $93.7M over... which is INSANE... Granted, they have moves they can make, but Brees' retirement only saves them $14M on the cap... so they gonna have a LOT to think about...

Even if the cap were frozen... Saints would be in wicked bad trouble...

Yea this is nuts all these good players will be out there and most teams will be powerless. Talk about a good time for teams with cap space especially bad teams to clean up and get good fast.

Eagles aren't much better off and that's before they get rid of Wentz if they do.

I think they'll keep it as is for 2 or 3 years until the union speaks up and they raise it again. The NFLPA will not allow so many of their guys to be cut because of this a deal will be made. No increase for a few years is workable for everybody. You figure it's gone up about $10 million a year the last few years so 2-3 years should cover the difference between the $175m and what is it $198 now?

With the new TV deals, I don't think that would even be necessary. It just wouldn't increase by as much in future years that it would have otherwise.

Well, with the Rollover, it's $20M, so that's $7M right there.

also you're numbers aren't quite right.

Goff's 2021 cap hit if he remains on the Rams: $34.625M
Goff's 2021 cap hit if traded by 3/17/21: $22.5M
Watson's 2021 salary 2021: $10.54M

Net: Rams save $1.585M in 2021.

And that INCLUDES the cap hit from Goff being traded.

That was the last time I looked at Spotrac.com

For some reason in the last day, the numbers have shifted up by like $7M and It's gonna take me a bit to figure out what happened.

Anyway, point being that the Trade for Watson actually helps with the cap. The cap isn't the issue for this trade.

The issue will be meeting the Texans' demands.

And even without this trade, the Rams were already going to have to restructure things to get under the cap... just like 1/3rd of the NFL.

I said $27mil which is correct, but I didn't include the rollover which we get anyway.
I and I looked at Watson's salary and it was listed as $16mil. I didn't check bonus money which probably lowers it.
The only thing different in what I said was Watson's salary.
So trade or no trade Demoff has a lot of work to do on the cap and there aren't to many players we cut or deal to lower it. I can't check Spotrac right now, I keep getting a Bad gate way notice.
If this is true,

It doesn't matter, we got fucked hard.

At the time of the Blythe signing you gave no hint that you found the move "baffling." In fact, you sure sounded open to it when it was first announced. (And yes, I'm playing the "gotcha" game.) :p

When Blythe signed his one-year extension in March, 1328 wrote:

"Hope he's fully healthy. And yes, would rather him [Blythe] play center than guard, he was better at the former than the latter.
....having him now at least gives them flexibility to not have to reach for an OL."

Sure sounds to me like you thought at the time that, if healthy, Blythe was a reasonable option to start at center. But now you say, "Just for the life of me can't understand what they were thinking with that one?" C'mon.

Just a reminder: at the time, after taking the cap hot for Cooks and Gurley, and signing Flowers and Whit and Brock, the Rams barely had any cap money left. So they signed an average C to a one-year deal as a stopgap solution. Everyone knew that.

I'm flattered that you value my opinions enough to go back and search through my old posts. And it's a good gotcha, I'll admit, as it's clear that I was wrong about Blythe. But you know what that means though - McVay was wrong about him too. And unlike me, McVay gets paid millions of dollars to make these decisions. He also has far more information to work with ... and he still fucked that one up, big time. Not only that, well after it was obvious to all of us mid-season that Blythe wasn't working out, he stuck with him. Could have tried Corbett at center and maybe put Evans in at guard, or hell, even Noteboom, who, while not very good at guard, was at least as good as Blythe.

So yeah, I got that wrong - congratulations, you pulled a gotcha. But in the process you also proved how wrong McVay can get it as well.

Feeling good about the Stafford trade?

Cool, glad you could own up to it.

But c’mon, man, you KNOW me well enough by now to know that this was just my piss-poor substitute for something else. Just wish you could have had a clear enough mind to come forward and admit you were wrong on other, uh, “more important” issues that we’ve debated about.

Not trying to stir the pot, and no personal disrespect intended. But yeah, I gotta admit that IMHO you have a keen ability to be spectacularly and utterly wrong on a wide variety of subjects. :zany:

Cheers, dude, I may disagree with ya on just about everything, but I’ve always appreciated your demeanor.

Stafford trade? Oh man, still digesting it. On the surface it looks bad, but I want to wait and see how much it helps our cap.

Agree my Ram Bro just so many blasted me for saying Goff didn't have the Trade Value of Bradford.

Btw I like Stafford, him with McVay could really be something special, Stay Tuned.

I‘m fine with the Bears. (y)

The strongest rumors seem to be Carolina.

#8 pick and Teddy as a stop gap/mentor for the QB they pick at 10 is nice it all depends on what else after those 2 they get. And I'd rather either of those teams than some other options.

Thats actually a pretty good beginning part of a trade for the Texans. I’m curious what they wonderful GM and coach feel is a good direction to go before they get fired in 1-2 years lol
