I get that and agree, I'm 100% on Watson side on how this whole thing went down. However there is a precedent being set here and that isnt good for the league. You can bet that no-trade clauses will become "must have" in contract negotiations going forward and how this plays out will dictate that path

Plenty of players have had this clause in their contract. What didn't happen though was the team alienating the player to the point he wants out of there.

.

Not saying they are great or even good yet but look at the spurs and what they are doing. It's remarkable for them to even be afloat yet they take there picks no matter where they fall and develop them. They do have some vets but regular free agent signings or trades no teaming up and to recover as well as they have after Leonard did what he did is impressive.
The Spurs have always been a well run organization Being a Celtics fan I didn't care for them for a few years because they scored Duncan.

As an example counter to the supposition you put forth regarding how the Rams would look bad if they publicly stated they were committed to Goff while privately trying to trade him and whether or not it "looked good". Not specifically a debate on the merits of that regime relative to this one. But if you want to go there, yes, I think they handled the Bradford situation then better than they are handling the Goff situation now. And that was for a guy that never even QBed the Rams in a playoff game/win, much less for a winning season at all.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Take it for what it's worth don't know the dude maybe one of you do but he is followed by a credible person or two.

The funny thing is that tweet sounds almost exactly like the article about Stafford and the Rams. Cut-and-paste job?

The tweet was meant to mock the report, that's why it is a cut and paste.

It's also meant to point out that the Rams are targeting Watson.

I'm saying he does report but sits out due to an "injury," like Ramsey did with the Jaguars. The team acquiring him would still be able to do so as long as he passes their physical.

I would not want to fake an injury to try to get traded if I were an NFL player. Maybe his team can't prove it or won't challenge him but it's dishonest. Could be wrong but I believe Ramsay had a real injury but was slow to recover.

On the other hand, I think a player could communicate his unhappiness in a lot of other ways, including by just repeatedly speaking out, that would make life miserable for the team until they act.

Is Watson really all that great ?
Two torn ACL’s would be a red flag

He's a very talented QB, without a doubt. Probably top 5 in the league right now.

But yes, in addition to the steep cost to get him, those two torn ACL's are also a concern. That's the kind of thing that can make the whole deal go south in a blink of an eye.

Okay, bear with me.

My youngest has been telling me to trust my intuition more. I struggle with that. I have a great intuition, but I use it just slightly more often than my snow skis here in FL... and I tend to not pay ANY attention to it when it comes to sports because my brain likes to run wild. And because I'm a pattern guy (apparently after taking some tests, also on the autism spectrum...), I tend to hyperfocus on those patterns.

Well, when it came to the Ramsey situation and his dissatisfaction, I just knew he was coming even as folks said he'd be too expensive, others would offer more...yadda, yadda, yadda.

So, here it is.

My intuition says that Watson's gonna be a Ram.

My intuition also says that the price we pay for him is gonna make even his strongest adherents blush. It's gonna be a WHAMMY!!!

There will be very long threads about how the value is crap and we shoulda stuck with Goff and built up the OL. We will allude to the Warner/Bulger threads...

Beyond that, my intuition says we'll be very happy, and that includes winning a Super Bowl.

This will be like having a very nice entry level luxury sedan and putting a HUGE down on a top of the line Mercedes S63 AMG.

Does the price tag sting? Yep. Stings like getting into a slap fight with a bad sunburn.

Does it end up being worth it? Yep. It sure does.

Now the pattern part of me is screaming that we don't need no stinkin' intuition cuz there are PATTERNS which say he's coming and we don't need all this hippy-dippy nonsense.

But my youngest is right and I can't and shouldn't ignore my intuition... and my intuition says he's coming, we're gonna pay a mint and a half for him and we'll ultimately be happy in the end.

Okay... back to patterns!

Ramsey was definitely capable of playing. He was angry at the FO and sat to force a trade.

I can only find 5 or 6 players who have it

Yeah, even as I know nothing's happening for awhile, I'm freaking manic...

I need to calm down.

I even ran out of gummies as I'm on day 14 of this damn migraine...

And it worked. I just wouldn't advise a player to take that approach. Other stuff could work too.

The problem is Earl Thomas. He was gonna sit out and decided not to. Then he broke his leg in his 3rd game back that was season ending.

Whenever anyone thinks about not holding out... the agent is gonna mention "Earl Thomas"

Also, a lot of the "other stuff" is harder now.

Waiting in "specialists" can take forever and that can be used as the stall. And it's legal.
