I think it was more of a decoy during the last couple of years, until this season. We have a wicked accurate QB who isn't afraid to let the long ball fly. Jackson is going to help good teams go one-dimensional, because they have to match our pace, points wise. If we use Jackson ONLY in this role, I believe he won't get hit as much and hopefully he won't get injured this year.I think the deep threat is a part of his offense.
We have pieces now to better execute it.
Be it Jackson, Jefferson, Kupp or Woods.
Just the threat of it helps open up the running game and helps with the intermediate stuff.
Last year you really saw teams jamming that intermediate zone....S creep closer and closer and LBs drop into that zone.
Even if the passes aren’t completed it’s important to have that element of the offense be a valid threat.
Week to week match ups and defenses will influence it of course but it’s here to stay I think.
Jackson was wide open on all three of those deep balls on Sunday. They keep saying the S slipped on that TD catch... Well he did slip but he was already toasted.
I'd bet on at least one deep shot in the first possession or two of just about every game going forward jus to keep the safeties deep.
Slipped? Haha no. He broke the safety's ankles. He faked inside towards the posts and pivoted towards the sidelines.Jackson was wide open on all three of those deep balls on Sunday. They keep saying the S slipped on that TD catch... Well he did slip but he was already toasted.

Make the D stop it. Make them play deep all the time. More room for the rest of the offense.Well the niners and Hags are already having issues in the secondary so I say keep throwing deep and see what happens.
Wonderbread...Was he carrying a football or a loaf of bread?
You said what I was trying to say in a much better way.I think it was more of a decoy during the last couple of years, until this season. Just saying it is a good thing if you think about it because after Sunday the ears of a lot of defenses heard itmcVay has said similar things In the past. Saying I need to do this or that more and then completely ignore it. I think it will depend on a gameplan. I think Jax will get more playing time but he can't be only used in one faucet because defenses will adjust to when he's on the field. If anything it will dramatically open up the running game. Once we start seeing 6 in the box look for hendo and Michel to carve up the D
