does mcvay just pull out the desean card only in big games
I think Desean may become a little bit more involved.
But not too much. I do think we were keeping him on ice
for the Tampa game and I think Desean will have VERY
fresh legs going into playoffs.

At worst he should be targeted deep 4x game and see what happens. I would expect the potential for something similar to Sunday's results against the Cards.

Their secondary has been better than anticipated but it really isn't all that good.

One more thought is that if Desean tweeks something or has a small injury
He will be way more motivated to not let it sideline him, then say if he were
playing on a team that clearly has no chance of winning a ring.
I think he is as locked in as he has ever been in his career.
This is his Dream team.

How does McVay NOT utilize DJ as a significant part of his O going forward?

It’s a no brainer. Hell, that’s why they signed him in the first damned place! He was open deep THREE times vs Bucs. THAT is a dream combo with a QB like Stafford.

Bear with me here for a moment. Imagine Rams with 4 WR sets and this OL protecting Stafford as they have done through 3 games…

Imagine the D trying to defend that with 3rd and 4th CB mismatches…

Almost seems unfair, doesn’t it?

Trust me, DJ will get snaps from here on out if he can stay healthy.

McVay will never forget about DJax in a game again. DJax getting behind the D three times will be burned into McVay's brain circuits forever.

And Stafford will never underthrow DJax again. Stafford owes him a couple of make-up TDs just for starters to get to even.

Jackson is, still, one of the best deep threats in the NFL. My guess is that Djax should get something like 50% of the snaps at one WR position (including slot) going forward. Imo that would be an ideal mix of talented receivers.

Possession AND explosives. More, not less, use of speed going forward.

Note to DeSean:

It's not a loaf of bread. It's a football. Act accordingly.
I'm fine with it being a loaf of bread...as long as he doesn't drop it!

To be fair, the Bucs secondary is fucking awful right now. They were extremely lucky Stafford started really off and wasn't hitting shit in the first quarter and that Vea hit his arm on the other missed touchdown. If Stafford didn't start slow I think it's at least 21 if not 28-7 going into halftime. They might have been able to hit a couple more of those in the second half if McVay wanted to try it after he started running clock out. They are that bad and had no pass rush to try and hide it. But good news is that teams have to respect it now and Bucs showed why.

Going forward....he needs to keep top speed until he gets in the end zone.

This taunting -- 'look at me' bullshit --has gotta stop.

Glad he's on our team though. Reminds me of Cortland Finnegan in that regard.

mcVay has said similar things In the past. Saying I need to do this or that more and then completely ignore it. I think it will depend on a gameplan. I think Jax will get more playing time but he can't be only used in one faucet because defenses will adjust to when he's on the field. If anything it will dramatically open up the running game. Once we start seeing 6 in the box look for hendo and Michel to carve up the D
I don’t doubt McVay will figure out ways to get Jax the ball in space. I haven’t seen the 22 but it looked like a crossing route and he just outran everyone to the corner for 40. Plus, it’s not like Bowles is an idiot, everyone in the stadium saw Jackson get behind the d twice in the first half for what should’ve been tds and yet it happened again.
I’m excited to watch the chess match, do you want to pay extra attention to Kupp or Jackson? Then it’ll be Woods or Van’s turn or Higs, this offense could be scary.

Do you seriously expect Desean to change the way he does business after 14 years of playing football? I couldn't care less if he crip walks into the end zone as long as he gets in there lol.

As for Desean's usage, it's not as if Stafford and McVay just "forgot" they had one of the best deep threats of all time on the roster and now DJ is going to get a huge uptick in snaps for the rest of the year. It's just with his injury history, there's no purpose in playing him every snap and giving him 10 targets a game when we can win most games just as easily with Van Jefferson. I think his usage this year is going to be situational with most of his targets being saved for big games like Tampa Bay and the playoffs.

.

does mcvay just pull out the desean card only in big games or will he begin to use him in all games moving forward?

.
I have been pondering this. Wondering if he’s over used will he have nothing left at the end of the season. Or will he be the wild card when the offense needs a jolt.

I hope he remains healthy and imparts his wisdom to Atwell. Then we'll have a young D-Jax on our team.

I was sure he was going to get a flag for that. I mean, it was probably the most blatant taughting this season. I hope it is called if he does it again. I hate that shit. At least he didn't spike it on the 1 foot line.

We need to preserve him, when he gets a load of work, he breaks down. Just have him run straight 5 times a game.

Slipped? Haha no. He broke the safety's ankles. He faked inside towards the posts and pivoted towards the sidelines.
This. The fat red faced fuck thought he could play quarters and let his defense play downhill snuffing out the underneath. Homey didn't get the memo that this offense is different. That 6-1 shit is over. Not only do the Rams have the talent to run power up the middle now (which is a weakness of that look) but they also have the talent to smoke them deep.

Weakness of quarters is verticals. If those safeties don't anticipate the receiver by the time that cushion is eaten up they're in trouble. And with a guy like Desean it's a BBQ.

This is also why the Rams are going to be concerned with how their safeties played. Because they almost gave up some shit themselves.
