Jackson is so fun to watch and his speed is a big reason why I have been pounding the table for him for years.

He’s really one of the best deep threats to strap it up.

But that slow down to the end zone stuff has a long history - he’s always done it. Watch his his school highlights, college highlights etc.

But yea, it’s some swag stuff that makes you laugh when he’s on your team.

For a brief second I was like why is he slowing down to the end zone. Then I quickly remembered oh yeah... DeSean.

I wasn't a fan when he did that on other teams, but it doesn't bother me here. Just adds a little excitement to the excitement.

The loaf of bread stuff doesn't bother me either. He's in the open near the sidelines... it'll be okay. DeSean is gonna be DeSean.

To be fair, the Bucs secondary is fucking awful right now. They were extremely lucky Stafford started really off and wasn't hitting shit in the first quarter and that Vea hit his arm on the other missed touchdown. If Stafford didn't start slow I think it's at least 21 if not 28-7 going into halftime. They might have been able to hit a couple more of those in the second half if McVay wanted to try it after he started running clock out. They are that bad and had no pass rush to try and hide it. But good news is that teams have to respect it now and Bucs showed why.

Good news: the Cards, Niners and Seahawks all have near equally bad CBs. In fact, it's a recurring theme with most teams in the league right now.

Our division rivals, Giants, Texans, Jags, Titans, Vikings, Ravens, Lions - Niners and Ravens because of injuries - all have below average CBs. That just leaves the Packers with Alexander.

They put a Rams stat up on the board with the three fastest speeds in a play this year with the player. I didn't catch number three because I was blown away at the difference.

They had Jefferson a play at 20.1 MPH.

They had Jackson at 20.9 MPH

Pretty big difference. Hence why we are better with Jackson on the field.

The 34 year old deep threat phenom WR (born 12/01/1986) was one of the most injury prone NFL players in 2019 & 2020.

2020 Games played 5, Catches 14, YDS 236, AVG 16.9, TD 1

2019 Games played 3, Catches 9, YDS 159, AVG 17.7, TD 2

March 21, 2021 - Rams sign speedy veteran WR DeSean Jackson for LA homecoming

DeSean Jackson signed a 1 year, $4,500,000 contract with the Los Angeles Rams, including $2,750,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $4,500,000.

In 2021, Jackson will earn a base salary of $2,750,000 and a roster bonus of $514,706, while carrying a cap hit of $3,264,705 and a dead cap value of $2,750,000.

The Rams went against the grain and they didn't get Jackson for a cheap broken down veteran discount.

99% of the NFL teams, media and fans didn't believe Jackson was durable enough to take a flyer on in 2021.

Jackson might end up breaking down sooner than later and prove the prognosticators right.

McVay championed for DeSean and believed in his training staff enough to take the risk.

Rams Senior Director of Sports Medicine and Performance Reggie Scott is considered one of the best in the business.

14 more games to play, but I'm guessing McVay's usage of Jackson and their Sports Medicine and Performance guru Reggie Scott have a good chance to keep him healthy for the majority of the 2021 season.

Are we going to have all these negative comments every time Jackson does something good for the Rams? Because if we do then shit, this is going to be a long season. And this is one forum DeSean will not be enjoying.

I hope he remains healthy and imparts his wisdom to Atwell. Then we'll have a young D-Jax on our team.
DeSean is scheduled to employ the Vulcan Mind Touch to impart all his game knowledge & experience to Atwell.

DeSean Jackson’s incredible 30.7 yards per catch could be a record setter

To say that the LA Rams coaching staff and front office knew what they were doing when they added veteran free agent DeSean Jackson to the roster is certainly an understatement. But to claim that the Rams expected the guy to be averaging 30.7 yards per catch on just seven catches five games into the 2021 NFL season would be a bit of a reach.

But here we are, five games into the season and wide receiver DeSean Jackson has an incredible 215 yards and one touchdown on seven of 13 catches. In fact, as soon as I saw that level of production, I immediately thought that an average like that if maintained over the course of a season had to be some kind of record, right? Well, it turns out that it is very close to one.

If you’ve seen Jackson catch a bomb or run with the football once he has that football, you know he is still one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the NFL to this day. Now it seems that his level of production is proving it. And he’s getting better, at least in terms of his average yards per catch.

He’s already had a 75-yard touchdown catch earlier this season. He has just had a 68-yard reception against the Seattle Seahawks. With each game, his average continues to explode. At his current rate, he only needs 33 reception to break a 1000 yard season. But even now, he is in great company.

Record-setting Rams

1967 Rams receiver Jack Snow made 28 catches for 735 yards to average 26.3 yards per catch. In 1989, the great Rams receiver Flipper Anderson needed just 44 catches to put up 1146 yards. In 1945, in his last year in Cleveland, Rams receiver Jim Benton put up 45 catches for 1067 yards. Now, in 2021, Rams receiver DeSean Jackson has caught seven passes for 221 yards.

Of course, Jackson has not made the record books, not yet. To make this list, there is a minimum of 20 receptions in a season. To claim 20th place in this NFL record, DeSean Jackson must make at least 13 more receptions and average 21 yards per catch in the remaining 12 games. But to set the All-Time NFL yards per reception record? DeSean Jackson must catch 13 more passes in the remaining 12 games, and put up 439 receiving yards in the process. That means he must average nearly 34 yards per catch for the rest of the season.

Still, with Sean McVay as his head coach, I wouldn’t be too quick to rule that out.

The path to the record books

Doing the math, that works out to just over one catch per game, and with quarterback Matthew Stafford throwing the football, that’s an easy bar to hurdle. The problem is maintaining that average against NFL defenses that have become very good at limiting deep throws. That’s where the LA Rams‘ vastly talented receivers come in.

Defenses will not be able to key on DeSean Jackson with the likes of Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and Van Jefferson running to and fro on the football field. That alone should give Jackson ample opportunities to make catches for huge yards.

Setting personal records on the NFL’s All-Time list is not important to wide receiver DeSean Jackson. That’s not why he came to the LA Rams. He came to help the team, and his friend Sean McVay, win Super Bowl LVI.

But that means playing his best football. For a wide receiver blessed with blazing speed, it means taking each reception as far down the field as possible. So while it’s not a personal goal to set the NFL All-Time record for yards-per-reception, that is certainly a way to help the Rams hoist the Lombardi.

So let’s not get lost in the semantics. This is not about a player going down in the record books for his personal achievement. But for a native son of Southern California, a young man who has returned home to give his all to help the LA Rams win an NFL Championship? Wouldn’t it be one helluva way to remember this season when it’s all said and done?

Rather focus on what he's doing on the field, which is a lot. He could have 4 or 5 TDs if some passes had not been under thrown. DJax is a serious weapon.

He doesn't need to run the 15 yard in routes, we have two guys that are literally the best at that. Just run him deep.

Pretty sure the show boating is not a “We not me” example. Hopefully he’s already heard it and it won’t be seen again.

Its really not show boating it's celebrating. He's arguably the best deep threat ever and knows he's not getting caught. DJax has been doing that forever. No different from a position player getting hyped after they make a great play. I don't think McVay has any problem with it at all. Why would he? You think coaches cared when Dion would high step? Nope.

We’ll have to disagree. IMO he was taunting the defense and risking a stupid penalty, fumble or both.

If McVay didn’t care he wouldn’t have that logo and would not have mentioned it when going to the podium.

Celebrate after the play. I have no problem with that. And, if you don’t think Sanders was show boating just what was it?

My problem with His type of celebration is, Yes he is taunting. He is risking it blowing up in his face and hurting the team. Which carries over to respect for the people who made it possible for him to make the catch. Every player had a role in that play. Go celebrate with the team. Thats why I didn't have a problem with the GSOT. They always celebrated as a team. I wouldn't have a problem with defenses getting together after a turnover if they would just do it where it happened. I ramble. Sorry.

McVay didnt mention anything about the celebration. He talked about DJax's ball security. Look at how he ran with the ball on the deep pass. Look at how he ran with the ball on the crossing route that went for 40+. He was holding the ball in his hand and the ball was not tucked. That's what McVay was talking about, he didn't criticize the celebration aspect at all. Find something else to be upset about.
