This entire thread is hilarious! I never knew so many Rams fans would rather hire interns or find players down at the welfare department, vs. paying for players in order to not suck!

Do any of you guys know that just because they're called "Free" agents, you still actually have to pay them to play?

Unfortunately if a poster thinks the Rams could have been run better which would have resulted in more success the last 2 years you're insulted. It's that kind of attitude leading to people posting in your rookie status. The issue is as fans we're actually allowed to think that 2 million or the 16 million for Floyd or the 38 million in dead cap could have been used to improve the team in better ways.
Problem is the same poster or people like that were probably thrilled when the Rams locked up Gurley long-term.

Not many expected him to get hurt and then sulk a bit like he did.

Also, people did see that if the Rams were viewed as an organization that treated their players well that it often times is a benefit to the organization.

As for Goff its easy to sit here now and say it was a mistake, but after a SB run others realized a great young QB was not going to fall in your laps especially picking late or with no first rounders after trading picks for Ramsey.

Yet as any good organization does they recovered, re-adjusted their plan and are now one of maybe the top 5 or 6 teams in the league with a legit chance to win the whole thing.

Looking back a few pages and wow. Is it your money? No? Okay then lol.

I couldn't agree more, however, some feel the Rams could have used some of that money elsewhere, but Jackson only gets that money if he plays 17 games.

If Jackson plays 17 he likely will be worth 4.5 mil. Jackson has averaged a low of 47 yards per game in a season to a high of 83 yards per game in a season.

If Jackson ends up being a starter for all 17 games and plays well in the playoffs he makes 6.25 mil.

If Jackson is hurt and only plays 5 games he makes 3.35 mil.

Jackson's injuries don't sound like they caused lingering concerns. Jackson had an Abdomen Muscle Tear, a Hamstring injury, and a High Ankle Sprain Grade 3.

Overall it sounds like a lot of cap for a guy who hasn’t played much in two years. But for all we know the Rams were bidding against other teams.
I kind of that about that too. It'd be nice to know. At least makes you feel better.

I wanna meet the guy that pouts over cap space in December, right after their teams wins and secures a playoff spot.
We can meet, cheer on the Rams, have a few drinks and I'll proudly eat a buffet of crow

For what it's worth, I know we'll make the playoffs.

A lot of cap? Lol come on man the vet minimum for him is $1M. We paid him a base of $2.75M. This guy is a 3x pro bowler who in the last game he played just 3 months ago caught an 81yd TD. Its not a lot of cap at all. We still haven't restructured or extended Stafford, so if for some reason we need more cap space we can create a lot.

it said 4.5 million plus incentives and he’s not a pro bowler anymore.

Just want to say, it's nice to be in total agreement with you for a change. Haha.
Here's a nugget worth noting, (it's in just about every article written so I didnt think a link was needed)
"he was one of only nine NFL players with three 50-yard TDs over the last two seasons"
This is a home run

It seems pretty apparent that the major issue people had with the $4.5 million number that was initially thrown out there was not only are we tight against the cap, but we have deeper issues than receiver. I would have to agree-- especially when you consider who we let go, and the fact that the deep threat we ended up signing has averaged playing in less than 10 games over the last six seasons.

After letting this marinate a bit I'm still a bit shocked by the amount but if we make the playoffs and he's healthy for them I won't care about what happened during the season and what he cost. It is a small gamble by the front office though but has high rewards if it pays off. I know Eagles and Redskins fans like to say he would fake injuries all the time to just not play so my hope is he's actually been quite healthy his whole career and loves McVay so much that he'd never think about doing that here and he'll destroy defenses all year long. :)

Lol for sure man. Yea I'm hoping he stays healthy just like everyone else, and recent history tells us McVay will make sure he has plenty of rest and recovery. Definitely worth the risk for $2.75M because the dude is still a stud.

Breakdown of the DeSean Jackson contract, per source: $2.75 million base - $103,000 incentive for each game on active game day roster - $1.25 million incentive if he plays 50% of offensive snaps "and team improves" - Up to $1 million playoff incentives - Cap number is $3.26M

What's not to like about that. Certainly isn't 4.5 mil like Garafolo stated. $2.75 base to get him in the door then $103,000 per game. Genius!! $1.25 million if he plays 50% of the snaps (and the team "improves"). Unless one of the top 3 go down, he's not playing 50% of the offensive snaps. Smart stuff from the Rams front office.
