Still disagree?

Darnold has been carried by KOC and Justin Jefferson. He doesn't have 'it' like Kirk Cousins.
The last 2 games makes you look like you were correct. I say the jury is still out. And do you mean the Kirk Cousins that got benched? Did Cousins ever win a playoff game?

Seems like the Oline is more at fault. Then Sam started to see ghosts. I have seen great QBs look like shit when pressured. Farve 6 INTs. Payton Manning looked pretty mediocre in his early playoff games.

Goff folded more than once with a suspect Oline. Looks pretty good now. Vikings should sign him and fix their Oline.

Haha

The previous 14 did as well. You can scheme to move away from someone's shortcomings and having star power and quality talent can hide them, but when the playoffs come and games against playoff teams that's when their true self come out.

You are comparing am early Peyton Manning to a seasoned shuffled around Pro? Sam Darnold is Favre? Goff was traded because he didn't have 'it' the same way Darnold doesn't but much more. Goff still needs an o-line and a supporting cast to make him successful. He didn't become the Goff of today without them picking up extra talent to make that happen.

Talent evaluators around the league see the same thing. This off season he's not getting no top of the line contract. He'll be lucky to average 40 mill a year. I would say the dumb ass Raiders would but Brady is running football operations there now.

8 days ago, for sure. These last 2 games destroy his market. He's the same guy who was mid to terrible with 4 different teams
I could see them doing a 1 year 10 mill deal with incentives, but other than that he's not getting starter money.
Mullens, Jones and Darnold are all UFA now.
Sign 1 of them to be the backup and see what you have with McCarthy is where they go to go
Perusing the media outlets during this morning's gloating session, it is in vogue to shit all over Darnold. Everyone's doing it. It's like the macarena. Unlike @Loyal though I never liked the macarena. And I've always had a soft spot for SD due to the fact he's a Trojan. I've always admitted that.

But I think he improved a ton this year. This time last year I wasn't sure he was a starting QB at this level. Now I think he's an average starting QB. Winning 14 games in the NFL is no small achievement. And it wasn't like that team dragged him there. He was a big part of that.

Also I think him getting paid less is good for him. Worst thing a team could do is pay him top money, because he won't live up to that. And getting paid much less means there's a greater chance of getting quality around him with the cap resources.

There's a long list of 1 hit wonders who had a career year, earned a contract off of it and then went back to being the mediocre player they were. Keenum, Scott Mitchell, Ryan Fitzpatrick etc etc. Darnold is what he is, a gap starter, bridge QB, backup QB, whatever label that fits. It appeared briefly that he was more like a Baker Mayfield, who's a guy who took advantage of a prove it year, and earned himself a payday and then backed up his play with even more great play.
Darnold aint that guy. He's in the mix now with Garoppolo, Winston, Mariota, Wentz, guys who are good enough for a game or two but not the starter gig

This game is littered with players who were counted out and still flourished. Goff and Mayfield are great examples. Both just needed the right situation. So while your opinion looks good for now, I think you will have to wait awhile for me to agree that you are right.

.

Cowherd seems to think he will get a contract in the range of 3 years for $100m, like Mayfield.

With the serious lack of starting QB's in this league you guys honestly think somebody isn't going to pay Darnold to be their QB? I'd wager he gets a contract similar to what Baker got.

I agree. Also Baker had a small window of McVay rebuild. Darnold meanwhile joins a small group of QBs who can say they put up a 14 win season. That shit ain't easy. And it speaks to him putting together a lot of consistency behind center, which means he had to have worked his ass off to do that.

Even with the quality of team around him that win total, in that division, is meaningful. No team is going to pay him top money now. And I think that's a good thing for everyone involved lol.
