I'm in Sacramento. The Elk Grove (next city South with a lot of commuters to Sac) school district just went on lockout next week as a precaution. I already figure I'll probably get it cause I have kids that are germ magnets.

Sounds like the fake news is actually fake news. A worldwide conspiracy with actual documented deaths? The only conspiracy is the hoax claim. Why would entire countries tank their economies simply to make the Chinese look bad? Common sense says this is a legitimate health crisis regardless of how the US govt takes it.

But has it risen to the end of the world status? No but there are certainly health care issues to be learned from it.

Yeah parents of young kids are super high risk, but the good thing is normal healthy kids and younger parents seem to be beating it pretty easily. For the elderly and those with cardiovascular health issues... Lock yourself in your house.

Hell I'm in my early 50s and definitely taking precautions. Nothing I hate more than a nasty chest infection.

I live in Japan.
My wife and I have a stock of bottled water and dried foods like crisps, biscuits, nuts, just as basic rations.
This is because of earthquakes.
I was here in 2011 when the big one struck and it was hard to get supplies for a few days.
If, or when, I should say, the big one haopens in Tokyo, the government expects around 3 days before supplies arrive in the city.
This is bullshit and transportation routes will be severely disrupted for longer than that.
Also, the panic buying that has been going on for the last two weeks has been a wake up call.
Media has shown images of warehouses full of toilet paper urging people not to buy it to stock up,
It doesn't deter people.

We decided to expand on our stock as much as possible.
Not for the coronavirus, but rather for an earthquake.
A few mknths ago, we had a big typhoon hit the country and were urged to stay indoors for one day.
The morning before, all supermarkets and stores had fheir shelves emptied by panic stricken customers.

This has been a good reminder for us to keep stocked up.

And of course, I'd wager pretty much everybody either is directly at risk or interacts with people at risk - or are you going to just avoid parents, grandparents, etc so you can go to the market 4 days a week?

Dude - EPIC
Are the flip flops to outrun the corona-zombie hordes?

But I’m totally 100% down with the Depends. Those things will be the new currency when shit goes down.

Here's the caption she wrote with the flip flops picture: "Our shower shoes just in case #Coronavirus"

* That is the best article ever

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not because I have no idea what that * means. So I’ll say this, normal rational prepping doesn’t bother me in the slightest, it’s the irrational prepping like I’m seeing in Portland that does. Mix that with the violent protests that have just died down and yeah, people in a panic in mass groups scare me. I mean, just look at this car lol
