Should have never traded a 1 for him. Better to use it on a lineman or a legit number 1 wr. Odell would have been excellent in this offense. I hope we can trade him and that crazy salary before the deadline.

The Rams can't trade him because of how his contract is set up. It's not possible

Yeah, as our resident capologist flv has explained, it makes no sense from a cap perspective to cut or trade Cooks before the end of 2020 at the earliest. Cooks will be a Ram this season and next, at least.

I know of five Cooks concussions:

2015 with Saints
Feb 2018 in SB with Pats (the scary bad one)
Fall 2018 with Rams (came back immediately the following week)
Fall 2019 with Rams( on TNF, came back immediately the following week)
Fall 2019 again (today).

Yes, a scary history. Only “positive” spin is that his previous 2 concussions with Rams seemed relatively mild and he came back quickly. The one today also looked relatively mild (he didn’t lose consciousness I think, nor did he stay on the ground for a while).

Concerning? Yes, of course. I’m still just hoping he can get a run of good luck and avoid them in future...

It is scary and Cooks should take medical advice. That said, I would hope that leaving the game and ‘unlikely to return’ is precautionary and that he was not impaired. If he was impaired again, then he should consider his long term health. We would miss him for sure, he’s one of the best

I just saw this on NFL.com:
Brandin Cooks suffered yet another concussion against the Bengals. That's now four concussions for Cooks since Super Bowl LII and two in the span of 24 days. This could lead to an extended absence for Cooks, which would be a significant loss for a Rams offense that counts on the speedy wideout to stretch the field.

Poor dude can't catch a break. Hope he heals up but we definitely need to find someone that can fill in his shoes

I think you'll see Reynolds and Mike Thomas split Cooks' roll. I also like Nsimba Webster's potential in the future

I'm not so sure he just hangs up his cleats. I'm also not sure if he continues to play. There are different grades of concussions and quite honestly they happen in a lot sports than we hear about, it just seems like football takes the brunt of the headlines because of how big the sport has become. Regardless, we are not medical doctors so I'll trust whatever the Rams brass comes up with in the next couple of weeks.

This concussion stuff is real...but now it's somewhat overblown if you ask me. It's due to the lawsuit as well as former players who didn't have the knowledge we have today.

My best advice for Cooks is to see the BEST specialist known today. He knows how he feels and he knows if he's feeling side effects of his concussions. Get evaluated and the decision will be his...based in the best medical advice.

Lastly...if you pray...PRAY FOR THE GUY!

Shame he's been getting concussed as of recent. Also cutting ties with him next season will lead to ~$21mil dead cap

IF our speedy little Harold Jackson like wide out does make the decision to either take a break for the rest of the season or just retire the Rams are still in decent condition minus him in our receiver cadre.

As pointed out above by other members Snead has enough talent here to cover for his loss. Between Everett, Reynolds, Thomas, Natson & even almost as fast 4.4 forty rookie Nsimba Webster can take Cooks roster spot if IR'd.

What's the actual number we'd take a hit for and how soon if we traded Cooks? Looks to me like $21.8 million would hit the books.

edit just read it would hit the cap next year.

So if we trade him during the 2020 season it would be a $13 million hit in 2021 it looks like.

Well if he retires or quits we wont be on the hook for it. They usually have a injury settlement

Maybe we passionately persuade him to retire, and come to an injury settlement. 4 bad concussions in 18months means serious potential risk to his brain long term. He's made a lot of money in this league already. CTE is no fucking joke and Cooks is still what only 26? He's got a lot of life to live.

Weird. The human body never ceases to amaze me.

Cooks gets his 4th concussion in 2 years, yet he is again “asymptomatic.”
How is this possible?

Got a feeling that Cooks will be on the field vs. Pittsburgh. My guess is that the doctor will say that the decision is ultimately “up to the player”, and Cooks won’t choose to walk away. Cooks will know he is gambling with his future, but unless and until he gets major negative symptoms (like Sam Shields did, for example), Cooks will keep rolling the dice.

right?!

Yeah every players body is vastly different. I know we dont know much head brain trauma but maybe it doesn't effect every player the same or have the same long term effects.
Like in boxing some dudes are next to impossible to knock out, and others are glass cannons, just depends on the person.

I wonder if they have a different helmet he could try out? Sometimes people get knocked out because of neck and jaw trauma rather than it being head related. They can often have the same symptoms as a concussion. Like being put to sleep in a choke hold, once you wake up you're not the same for about 4 to 6 hours.

Just food for thought.
