Usually with the owners who meddle there are stories bubbling up all during the process. That was the case with Fish in Tennessee, where rumors were there that the pick was forced on him. It was the case with Shanahan in the Snyder situation, and really with Snyder all the way back from when he first bought the team.

But, yeah, that is my opinion. And sure, we don't really know. I mean, we all understand that we are dealing with opinions here. Don't we?

More than likely, you are correct. But I've wondered more than once if The Silent One is not quite as silent within 'the building' than his public facade would lead us to believe.

Also tend to think those situation where meddler stories bubble up to the surface, it's because someone wants them to. May not be the case here.

I'm not much of a college football follower, hence why I posed the question for others to give input, but I feel like hiring a well renowned college coach could be our best option. I don't really want to get another retread that has been mediocre.

Agreed. We need a younger coach that is more in touch with today's football methodology and players - coaching by constantly abusing and swearing at the players is prehistoric -- it makes them play with a fear of failure and that's exactly what they do.

I'd look at the current Oregon coach as a starting point --

LOLOLOL-LOL!!! Nah man, Hackenberg can really throw the rock...You know that...All he needs is confidence....Love to see him in a year or two....just you wait.;):shades:
So...how did you feel when Tavon dropped the ball last night? How about his year with Sam, when we tried to go to a more up-tempo, spread it around offense? Do you judge him as critically? just curious.....

IDK if I judged him as critical, I just know that I watched Hackenberg for three years at Penn State and never watched him play extraordinary. I call like I see it, when I see it. As to Austin, I would like to see more fly patterns than slant patterns, but that's just me.

More touches....more targets....not a fair sample....look at TD's per touches...sure that Pro Football Ref. can do something like that...

You must have missed the start of the 2014 season?....again...no excuses for this guy, but he's clearly a better WIDE RECEIVER....if we want to move the ball, it would be wiser to target receivers like Britt, Kendricks, and Quick...with throws...mixed in with a lil, very little of Tavon Austin....sorta like we used Az Hakim

Let's just agree to disagree, I'm not going to change my mind about Quick at this point in time.

But I will close my end of the argument by saying a) I admire your loyalty toward him, and b) I sincerely hope you have an opportunity to come on here someday, while Quick is in a Ram uniform, and say "see, I told you so!" I would love to be wrong about Quick, but I just can't have the same level of faith in him that you do. Here's hoping you end up with definitive proof that your position is the right one.

Stan favors vet coaches. The new coach will be Shanahan.

And this time around the Rams will be the most desired job by far.
Like I said in the vent thread, Stan needs to hire the Rooneys to select our new coach. They've hired 3 coaches in what, the last 35 - 40 years? All have been winners. All of them.

Asshole Face- has a proven track record on offense. Will likely allow us to keep Gregg Williams as DC

Mike Shanahan- His offensive philosophy will help Goff's development tremendously

Tom Coughlin- No nonsense coach. Won't hesitate to call his players out for incompetence

I prefer Payton due to his connection with Gregg Williams. Continuity on defense while implementing an offense that will work effectively

How are we going to get Payton?

Must win is right. The only good thing about the game was that no one can dispute the need to push the reset button now. We didn't have to go through several games to get there.

Something has to change. If it isn't the QB, the play calling, or the receivers, it will eventually be the OC or head coach-- and everyone can see it. So what will it be?

You're right. The fans all agree that it's time to press the reset button on our coaching staff now that we have what should be a winning team in place.

I do not want:
1. Jon Gruden
2. Bill Cowher
3. Mike Shanahan
4. Tom Coughlin

Gruden wasn't very impressive in Tampa Bay after the Super Bowl win. Cowher is another Jeff Fisher (stuck in the 90s). Shanny has a huge ego and lost control of the locker-room in Washington because of it. Coughlin is just too old at this point.

Let's start fresh. My list would be (in no order):
1. Jim Harbaugh
2. Matt Patricia
3. Todd Haley
4. Jim Bob Cooter (best HC name ever)
5. Greg Roman (if the Bills offense gets back to playing like it did last year)
6. Tom Herman
7. Mark Dantonio

Gregg Williams and Asshole Face hate each other. They'd never work together again.

Jim Harbaugh... only because he would enjoy shoving it to the Whiners.

Perhaps Quick would have more targets if he warranted them. If you can't get open, you're not targeted. If you run the wrong route, you're not targeted. If the QB throws you the ball and it hits you in the back because you're not looking, you won't be even considered again. Quick isn't going to get it, and please don't bring up 2014, that was a long time ago and with a different OC. Even Drew Bennett had one good season. If one season doesn't make you good, 4 games surely doesnt.

I always thought, these dudes go for upside & measurables...no way, you stand Goff side by side with Wentz, then look at film and you take Goff over that ginger...no freaking way....Hell, Snead probably wanted to stay at 15..or even trade back and take Lynch, Connor Cook or Brissett.. Maybe even Hackenberg....and yeah, Hackenberg can STILL PLAY....

Goff is our QB and he hasn't even played yet so I don't know why you're comparing him unfavorably to Wentz, especially considering that Wentz threw to his first read every time.

Let's go Chip Kelly after he gets fired for going 2-14.

Kelly would have fun with Goff and would cut all our talent so we could start over.

More so than Fisher? Players coach.
He's all about being a 'players coach' etc.
Phewy on that.

In all honesty, I don't know how people can assume Fisher doesn't understand modern offenses.
I mean, he stops them on defense, right? Gotta understand it to be able to stop it.
He simply hasn't had a QB his whole time here. Everyone agrees it's the most important position, yeah?

That's an indictment on Fisher.

2012 he had Bradford. 2013 no one expected the torn ACL and Bradford was looking really good that season. 2014-onward the QB position has been mismanaged

He should've invested more in the QB position in 2014 aside from Garrett Gilbert in the draft. Hill's a fine backup, but there's a reason why he's considered a really good back up.

I liked the gamble with the Foles trade, but it backfired.
