If Goff is still needing to be goaded into preparing for games then the team needs to find a replacement for him.

I’m sure he means for certain aspects of the game.
If he felt he was totally unprepared he shouldn’t have played him.
I’m not sure Goff has it between the ears in terms of seeing what a D is doing and being able to adjust at the line.
He gets off his game easily.
When this happens he slows waaaaaaay down.
Holds the ball.
Is late on throws that are there.
Doesn’t see open receivers.
Doesn’t seem to see things like unblocked rushers....that are lined up right in front of him.
As someone pointed out in this thread already, there was a counter to these Cover 0 blitzes that they should have implemented in the first half. Goff is able to make these counters but for some reason does not get with the coaches until half time to fix the issue.
We have lost 3 games now where the fixes did not come in until the second half and we were so far down in the game that the comebacks did not work due to a few unlucky plays.
Buffalo - we had the lead and a bad PI call lost the game
San Francisco - Kupp dropped a TD pass
Miami - Everett dropped a first down pass inside the 25 yard line
If any of those don't happen, I believe we come back and win these games or at least go into OT and who knows what happens then. (Well Buffalo for sure since that would have given us the ball with 30 seconds left and no time outs or just 1 time out left for Buffalo).

I take your point but I think still if you think your QB is unprepared to play against a defense you have ways to limit that. They tried short passes/screens but they got defelcted a few times. However, they should have run the ball all game. They had shown against the Bills they can run the ball and comeback so it's not as if they have no evidence of this. The play calling was bad, but yes goff obviously has to do a better job too.
I'm still mad @ Henderson for literally moving away from a free rusher on the fumble TD lol. I get he has a route to run but at least put your shoulder into the FREE runner.

It's rather clear that we need to mitigate our risk with Mr. Goff. Snead & Co. need to be looking for a young QB to develop in Coach Mac's system sooner rather than later.
This prospect will have to come as cheap as possible without expending a lot of draft capital.
Mebbe one of those 6th rounders that Les is so fond of. Or a trade for someone who Les and Sean like coming out of college who may be available on the cheap.
If this youngin' has some inate talent I do trust that Coach Mac can develop him or at least know when to cut our losses and start over if needed.
We can't leave all our eggs in the Jared Goff basket because his melt down in Miami cannot continue to be tolerated going forward.

Nobody does well in this league without people coaching them well individually.
Four comments on Goff and the passing game:
1. All of the "issues" with Goff's game are "fixable" with more coaching, film study and offseason work.
2. #11 is constantly letting him down by not uncovering or driving on the ball.
3. When Higbee isn't 100%, the TE position is incredibly inconsistent.
4. The RB are invisible in the passing / screen game. (Where is Akers for fuck sake???)
5. Goff has small hands.

I don't believe it's so much Goff "bashing" as it is apparently coach and us as fans need to see progression. He has improved but seems to be stuck or even regresses at times. I am not bashing him. I have actually had faith in him and questioned mcvays play calling in the red zone why bubble screens... why these dumb short plays....why no attempts to the end zone....or why run it etc. So I have put my trust in Goff but I am starting to see a different perspective one where the trust doesn't exist because if mcvay let's Goff loose he scared of dumb turnovers or incorrect reading of defenses. It's like mcvay still needs to baby him and get the offense down to the 5 before mixing it up.
Listen I still have faith things could be corrected for him to reach that ceiling but I would do whatever it takes to acquire Sam Darnold. I mean I'd sell a kidney lol. He needs to be pushed and Darnold will have no grounds to command a huge contract and he could sit a year behind Goff next year if necessary he is still that young. Darnold could learn retrain under mcvay and I'm telling you the dude has what it takes. Mcvay is basically echoing the same sentiments we all do every week in joke fashion or serious fashion. It's good that Goff is even keel but there are times where you need fire... emotion... and true leadership. He cannot be coddled at this stage anymore he has weapons more than most. Had Darnold been drafted to the rams his career would have been a lot different.

They didn't stop running the ball against the Bills when they were losing by even more. It was bad coaching.

I feel like some of you are commenting without actually taking account what happened during the game. The first turnover occurred on a totally unnecessary deep pass attempt on 2nd and 2 where the Rams ran an empty set with 4 receivers running deep routes and a single receiver running a hot route. The Dolphins got unblocked pressure with 3 linemen and 3 miami players were covering the hot route. Preperation or not, 1) that's an excellent defensive play call, 2) there was still 23 seconds on the play clock when that ball was snapped. Nobody changed the play into something that would actually work. That play was doomed to fail.
What worked in the second half was (1) not going empty (2) play action (3) screens. If the game plan was beating the 3rd ranking blitzing defense with hot routes, that's a terrible game plan. No matter who is the QB. Hot routes on designed pass plays are for unexpected pressure. Throwing balls to hot routes in the face of an expected unblocked man is a 50/50 senario, unless you can generate space/time with your legs.

I could see letting Goff throw in shotgun empty set against a bring the house blitz once to see what he would do. But we did it at least 6 or 7 times. Tempting fate at that rate. Call a timeout if you have you but you can't let that play go forward.

Yeah I agree here. I don't blame Goff for much of what happened, but he had a role to play. I don't see calling him out as bashing him at all. Whether it's done here or by McVay.
We also had an absurd number of passes batted at the line. What was up with that?
