Morris opens with his soft defense. Then he plays aggressively and shuts the Giants down. What's is it going to take Raheem? Play aggressively and this defense delivers. He moves Rapp into the box and allowed him to read and anticipate, playing to his strength and he delivers. It's not the players. It's how Raheem plays them. He makes his CBs look bad by playing them so far off that they are behind the play every time. Time for a new DC.
BTW... You were the same guy that wanted Staley fired after 3 games last year - no? I can quote you if you'd like.

Find a different thread for your fire the DC rants other than one of our celebration threads.

Rapp looks like the promising safety we saw in his rookie season. It's amazing what can happen when a coach puts a player in position to play to his strengths.

Wade knew how to use rapp during rookie season. That is until the whiners were 3rd and 16 deep in the 4th with the game in the line. Somehow wade thought it was a good idea to play rapp as the deep safety. That decision cost him his job.

For anyone that didn't really see what happened on Kupp's 2nd TD. Look at Stafford with the ridiculous no look pass.

Now watch the TV angle and what this no look pass did to the Safety #23. Watch how hard he drives on Higbee where Stafford was looking. It completely takes him out of the play and Kupp scores because of it. Just beautiful, elite level quarterbacking. Maybe 3 guys in the league that can make plays like this? Mahomes, Rodgers, and Stafford?

The Giants definitely were a TRapp game after all.

It sure felt good to see us rest starters too.

Well... Objectively speaking... McVay is also coaching with a salary cap which Shula didn't have to deal with. Possibly THE biggest hinderance to sustained winning football?
Agree.

Another HUGE factor/difference between then and now is free agency. It did not exist in the 1960s.
Shula's best players on the Colts (and Lombardi's Packers) could NOT leave for big-$ elsewhere.

I was just talking numbers. If records are going to be compared at a specific point-in-time, it (objectively) should be when both men have coached the same number of games.

Again, damn objectivity!

I heard on the radio that Ramsey was refusing to come out late in the game. And McVay had to pry him out. Was that ever talked about?

Sustained very good-to-excellent performance is just a blast to watch, as a fan.
The Stafford trade wasn't cheap.. but this is a significantly better team and has more upside, I think. It feels like Stafford still has some growth to do in the system.. but, he's kicking ass anyway.
Number 6 in points per game.. I think they should be up to top 3 before the season is over.

I did not hear that.

I saw him on the field late in the game and I was wondering why he was still out there.

But then doesn't that comparison become subjective if you select which factors to leave out?

When all is said and done, I'm sure they would talk about overall record regardless of number of seasons. But anyone looking at the numbers objectively would definitely have to consider what factors may have helped or hindered a coach in different eras.

I would think ignoring known facts that directly affect the point being made would make the argument subjective by definition.

Now if we're simply saying "winningest coach" then you're right and you can ignore all that bullshit I just spewed.

I think it's a fun exercise to compare to the past.. but McVay's success in *this era* is truly special, imo.
The league is hardwired to pull everyone to mediocrity... but the Rams are going on year 5 in a row of having a winning record. That's tough these days.
And they're doing it this year after losing multiple players and coaches. I would doubt that any of the others we compare McVay to have had to deal with as much change in coaching staff and players.

There are a lot of QBs in this league that are just trying to reach a good level of consistency. Looking off safeties is graduation level stuff. No look passes are almost showing off.

Kurt Warner isn't a big fan of No-Look passes. He thinks looking off safeties/ Lbers is fine, but the No-Look doesn't make you more accurate, he thinks.....He also said
"GET OFF MY LAWN!"
