Not only are they not scoring in the 1rst quarter, but they are struggling just to get a first down. The playcalling is not cutting it.

Defensively, I don’t mind so much. A young team is being “outscripted” early. They adjust and start taking over. The defensive front just wears down the OL as the game goes along.

This team is just so close to putting it together and dominating. They have to get off to a better start next week. We know they can, they did it vs the vikings.
it wasn't the playcalling.

Stafford threw two inaccurate passes on 3rd down that killed the drives - the first one kupp was wide open.

Love finding play makers mid draft and starting Olineman bottom of draft.

Kinchens has two qualities that really stand out to me.

He is a ball hawk, and he will knock the fuck out of you. I think he gets lost in coverage sometimes, but he has the potential to be a monster.

Also a terrible throw by Maye there. However our cover 2 defense scares the shit out of me - a good throw there might have been 6.

I thought it was the best it could be. Rams pressure forced him to throw early and if the WR had been looking it would have been a 1st down.

Ok, so the NFL is not like college. If a ball carrier goes down and no one touches him it still a live play. Unless the refs blew it down when Kinchens went down no one touches him. Then he gets up and runs to the endzone to celebrate with no one touching him. I have to wonder if that should have been a touchdown. Unless the rule is the player is intentionally giving himself up by going down.

May i ask why? Serious question.
I remember a brief few games where he looked solid at left tackle, absolutely stunk up the joint at left guard between his many many stints being injured and has looked lousy in spot duty while taking up major cap space.
It's literally been 3 years since i had any hope in him.
I just focused on his good stretches.
He had the ability to be a functional LT... didn't happen.

I guess my question to you would be if you see any reassemblness to AD99 & Fiske in terms of 2019 season only ? & The Rams defense.

Kobie Turner is also balling out.Not sure who’s pulling the Double team.
Kobie Turner has consistently been pulling double teams...at twice the rate of Fiske (if IIRC from a chart posted a few weeks back). Turner was doubled more than AD last year so you're right: Turner is also balling out.

I decided to go fishing after the first quarter debacle. After the egg they laid on Monday, I didn't see much hope for the offense. Super happy they got their shit together after I stopped watching, haha!! Go RAMS!!

P. S. My going fishing was clearly the catalyst for the turnaround, so you're all very welcome!!

Anyone can slide, not just a QB. If you give yourself up, the play is over. If he dove forward and was untouched, he could get back up.

I know Belichick and Brady are gone, but a win against the Patriots is still extra sweet.
Technically, since they still have Mayo as a coach and he was on those teams, its a small win

Mayo was drafted by Belicheat in the top ten. That means that Belicheat liked him, and that's enough to make me hate his fucking guts.

Fuck the Cheatriots up the ass with a spike-studded camera inside a deflated football without lube.

I was not too happy about that 3rd and 6(or 8?) on our last drive where Stafford tried a mid range pass, left sideline over a defender. "almost" made it but we ended up punting in long FG range giving them the ball back.
Just get the fucking 1st down with much easier throws and end the game right there. And the play on that 1st down should have been a run, not a incomplete pass stopping the clock. The announcers were surprised too.
I did not like the idea of giving Maye the ball back with our secondary , the kid can play.
Myself, more slants. We got our brains beat in by them for decades. Slants to Puka I say. That kid goes and gets the ball and can turn and run up field in traffic with the best of them.
This game, up by 6 could have been a devastating loss just by poor play calling. We could have watched them kick the extra point with seconds left on the clock.

The rule is that if a player intentionally goes down without being touch, then he is giving himself up and is considered down at that point and the play is blown dead. Intentionally is the key here. The ref has to decide if it was intentional or not.

In this particular instance - it was clear he was intentionally going down.

I think Stafford has definitely degraded in his resiliency with the rush. Hitting him seems to affect him more than it did a few years back. Which is not a surprise. Shit's gotta hurt more as you age. I mean fuck I can hurt myself carrying the trash out nowadays so to some extent that stuff is a side effect of age. And on top of that he might be less willing to suffer a beating, making him want to just dish it quicker and not get through those reads and take the hit.

But I still want to see what he can do with a good line in front of him. And he's starting to show that. Bottom line is that guy we need the most, the killer with that look he gets in his eye, isn't gonna appear when he's getting his ass beat.

Also and by the way the run game with Williams and Corum each getting about 10-12 carries seems important. Not gonna expect McVay to be Shanahan and prioritize 30 carries. But we should be into the 20s even if it's the low end until this OL starts pass protecting more consistently. And that balance will help him the same way it helps all QBs.

Thing with Stafford is he's one of a small group of QBs that can get you a win vs a good defense in the playoffs when the run game isn't there. He can elevate his game and carry an offense. He's got tons of bad habits and hard miles on him. But he is still that guy who can do that for us. So here's hoping the line starts playing better and he gets his ass into playoff shape here shortly because we need him now.
