It's amusing to me also, how the media has been regurgitating that the Rams are "all in" every off season when we here know better.

The true definition of being "All in" is the Cardinals this year. Their list of UFA's next year is a mile long because they haven't drafted well.

*Chandler Jones
*Ertz
*AJ Green
*Maxx Williams
Dennis Gardeck
*James Conner
*Andy Lee
*Christian Kirk
Colt McCoy
Max Garcia
Corey Peters
*Robert Alford
*Chase Edmunds
And a few other depth guys who play.

And they're going to have to pay Murray. There's nothing wrong (IMO) of doing whatever you've got to do to get better and get relevant quickly...but it isn't sustainable to buy your talent via FA every year. Kudos to AZ for putting a good team together this year. What will they look like next year though?

We know what the Rams will look like next year. They will lose a few guys and there will be guys ready to step in already brought in that have been here for a year or two .

Good points. (y)

Good move for Cardinals.

Okay, we got to go beat them.

Will he play on Sunday despite having played on Thursday ? Does that risk injury?
One game a week per the rules. Technically if he played Monday, he could've played Thursday. But even then, I think in covid times, there is a window. Also the NFLPA would have a fit if he played 3 games in 7 days.

This was a solid move by the Cardinals.

If I was their GM, I would've taken advantage of the opportunity to acquire Ertz after losing their up and coming surging TE Max Williams.

My overall observation of this move has a different spin.

They made a move to upgrade/compensate for their loss of Williams.

A great offense wins games in the regular season and has proven to have an impact on playoff seedings.

From my experience, playoff teams that make a deep run are usually able to rush the passer, stop the run and hold teams to field goals.

This move will probably help the Cardinals in the regular season but the impact it will have in the postseason is yet to be determined.

A top 5 seeded team with a surging defense in the playoffs has more merit to me than offensive stats during the regular season. .

Some unbelievable numbers there for the Rams.

Rams had #1 D last year, yet one year later we're dead last in cap spending on D? Wow.

The contracts for Gurley and Goff really were huge mistakes, kinda amazed the Rams manage to stay among the top teams despite the dead cap hits they're carrying. Makes me optimistic for future years-- so long as they don't make another one of those big contract mistakes.

I would think as Rams fans we would know how silly the “all in” label is.

You won't be popular for pointing this out... however it's where the Rams are at. Next year should be better for cap.
Some people will, no doubt, make something negative of it.

It's where they are and, to me, shows how good shape the Rams are, big picture. I don't feel like they're problems are primarily on the personnel side, I think it's more about adjusting and execution.

Sure, losing the guys they did will have an impact and I don't expect a number one D this year, especially with the loses, but I do expect them to get back into the top 10, overall. Especially in scoring D.

I don't know, it’s not like anyone in the division has been killing it with their recent draft classes. I would argue as of this season, we have been getting the most out of our homegrown players in the division.

Also, grouping us with Seattle is just not it(somewhere in another thread). They haven’t hit anywhere close to a 1st rounder since maybe Bryce Irvin in 2012, lol.

You DO know, lol. There is no comparison in terms of scouting between what the Rams have done vs AZ. The Rams have been plugging multiple FA losses every year with non-1st round picks for years, and maintained 4 straight winning seasons and playoff wins during that time. They traded premium picks for for Goff, Cooks, Ramsey & now Stafford. I may have missed some 1st rd trades in there.

Since 2017 the Rams haven't really made any huge FA splashes. Woods Watkins(?) and Whitworth early on if one wants to call those splashes...but after that? Dante Fowler? Leonard Floyd?

Also, not with just draft picks but UDFA. Rams have been killing it there since even before McV got here. The Cards have hit on a few draft picks very recently sure, but you know how Keim has primarily operated. I'd say a large % of your board knows how Keim has operated from one year to the next, plugging new holes with either FA's or bad draft picks or JAGS.

I'll ask you, based upon your roster as constructed this year and all the guys who will need to be re-signed...what is your team going to look like next year?

This 2021 Cards looks alot like the 2001 Diamondbacks to me...ALL IN, FUCK IT...which is outstanding if it works, but i don't see a plan beyond this year to be competitive and this is what separates the Cards from the Rams. According to the outsiders the Rams' method of roster building isn't sustainable. They've been regurgitating that since 2016 and i hear it from outsider fans as well. They aren't paying attention.
