he's got his money, time to start thinking if he wants to be able to walk pain-free when he's 40 now.
Yeah but he's made the kind of money that allows him to hire a full-time Samoan to carry him around everywhere.

When we took Bradford he wasn't my choice. But once it was done I was all in he was a Ram. I was posting on another board at that time and I made the comment several times, You don't hook a race horse to a plow. And thats what we did. Bradford was never going to be a Bradshaw or Kelly or Favre. Never going to take those hits and get up and spit in the DEs face. When you pay that much for a QB you don't try and make him fit your system you build your system around him. IMHO we didn't do that. By the time Bradford left the Rams he was all ready ruined. (just my opinion) The Vikings was his best shot but the injury bug had already taken hold. I guess the argument could be made that if you put any NFL QB in the perfect system then they would all do well. But you actually have to try first. Many believe Bradford stole money right outta their pockets or the NFLs pocket. I have never subscribed to this theory. This is merica get what you can get baby. I don't believe the book on Bradford will ever truly be closed for Rams fans just to many shoulda, coulda, wouldas . And yes he would make a great back up.

I was against drafting Bradford over Suh. But right now he would be a great upgrade at backup QB. He has never had a coach like McVay or the kind of talent around him that we have now. And his check downs would put the ball in Gurley's hands more, and I'm OK with that!

I know this thread has not missed my commentary, but I could not be more disinterested in discussing the future of Sam Bradford.

I disagree not to keep the thread going, but Bradford IMO, is not a viable backup because of health. You just can't rely on Sam Bradford, in fact, one could post that the only thing you could rely on, when it comes to Sam Bradford is his unreliability.

Would not mind bringing Bradford in as the 3rd QB. Give him time to learn the O, be a backup for Mannion.

Yeah, busts are the players that you search on google like "What is *insert player's name* up to now?"

The Bradford hate on this site is really getting old, always the same usual suspects, doesn’t reflect well guys

Very, VERY Boring

Did you take this position when there were oodles of posters banging on TAustin? Was it hate or just displeasure with the production?

this can't be stated enough. poor guy had spags as his coach when he entered the league. talk about getting the short end of the stick. then in his second year he had mcdouche as his oc, who wanted to run 7 step drop plays over and over. problem was the oline had trouble blocking for 3 step drops. the poor guy was traumatised.

McDaniels offense is what exposed Bradford for what he was, or at least the one huge weakness that kept him average for his career. And it's kept a lot of QB's coming out of college average. Bradford couldn't read defenses.

He did not have to in college remember..........he was instructed by his coach from the sideline to only look at the left side of the field or the right side of the field based on what the coach saw from the defense.

McDaniels system requires the QB to make OL protection calls based on what he sees. If you remember we saw guys running free into the backfield while two guys were blocking one DLman. Over and over. I remember seeing guys block air, literally not blocking anyone, more than a couple of times. It ended up being bad enough that they took that responsibility away from him because he wasn't capable of doing it because he didn't know what might be coming.

So all the other talents don't matter if you can't read defenses.

And that's why he checked down so often too IMO.

I'd do this in a NY minute as long as we're talking about injury history backup money.

Yeah and honestly this brings us back around to how Bradford chases the most money. In a scenario where the Rams offer backup money some dumba$$ desperate team will probably throw a few more mil at him with some BS incentives and promises to start and he'll jump at it and the Sam Bradford cycle starts anew.

Good point. All the more reason to bring him in mid-season instead of the next offseason when teams seem more willing to throw around ridiculous cash for fringe players.

Sign him to a 2 year deal on Tuesday. Release Mannion, who IMO the coaching staff clearly doesn't trust to throw forward passes. God forbid that Goff goes down but i believe Bradford could mind the store so to speak for stretches of games with the solid protection and weapons here.

You seem to have forgotten there was a lockout and the team couldn't practice. You're asking alot from a second year qb.

Maybe, but he couldn't do it and I'm not sure how much practicing would have helped him learn what different DC's were going to do.

It's been the downfall of a lot of top draft picks. And I've heard coaches say trying to learn how to read defenses in the NFL after never doing it before is nearly impossible.

Bradford turned out to be a journeyman, and he will probably bounce around the NFL for a few more years. It didn't work out well and that's the way it goes sometimes. We could have been stuck with Griffin, and a lot of people wanted him and were willing to dump Bradford for him. Look what that would have done to the team.

I think people can be critical of him and not "hate him". If he was selected in the 5th round there would be less feeling of being let down, but he was #1 overall and that carries expectations from fans. I seem to recall you (though I could be wrong) complaining about Austin and that he was a bust/sucked. But as fans we have favorites and people that liked and wanted Bradford in the draft often still defend him and have a tendency to push off the problems on everything around him.

Other than Warner, in my adult lifetime, the Rams have been cursed at the QB position. There has never been a star other than Warner until Goff was selected. Odd that there have been 3 guys at RB that are HOF players with Gurley likley making it four and shit at QB other than Warner during that span.

We could start one of those things like the Browns did with the jersey with all the QB's names.

By the way I wanted Bradford because I was done with Bulger and did not want to pay #1 overall money to a DE, it's just to big of a risk. He seemed like he had a good chance of becoming a good starter.
