I was wondering the same. His name has not come up often. That’s usually not a good sign and Harris seems ahead of him.
Well I’m going to state an opinion that he is on the outside looking in.

After OTA’s(Harris interview) Higbee & Mundt reached out to Harris. He seemed very appreciative.
He stayed with Funk,Skow, & Hodges which is a solid group. It gives them a better understanding of the offense with all 4 being different positions.

The thing that caught my attention was Harris having a hard time remembering Hopkins & Blantons names. Which makes me think Hopkins is into himself & has never found himself fitting in all that well ?
He is always next to Blanton.
In 2 days I saw Hopkins catch one pass & miss 2. Ran a bad route & the other was a 50/50 ball.
Each day I saw Blanton catch a ball & the 2nd was in 7 on 7 which was talked about early practice.
— The thing is with the TE’s they are not getting thrown to much so far. I’ve seen Johnny Mundt lineing up wide(wr) on a few formations.
—The other thing is BEN SKOW has been getting his number called a lot & lining up in the slot on 4 WR formations?
— you can see Harris looking on in this pattern. bringing this up is what I’m visualizing this as a big play within the offense in 2021. Also BEN SKOW making catches with Matthew Stafford & probably more catches than any other player so far.

FWIW, Skowronek made quite a few plays at Notre Dame and I really liked what I was watching. Skowronek battles for the contested ball and has very strong hands, plus will be an asset on special teams, along with deceptive speed as IMO, I don't think others realize he has a little juice.

Stafford is not afraid to give his WR a chance so with the height & strength of both Skowronek & Harris I concur that they could be a major part of the game plan and hopefully, improve the results in the red zone.

that's what i'm talking bout. if you can defend kupp 1 on 1 you're ready.

.
David Long is JAP. He is still young,& still improving. He should be a quality starter. D. Williams had an INT in day 2 of I believe Stafford? Just remember saying that was Williams that got it. Thinking it was goal line after the Offense was abusing them.

Thanks to all the camp reporters!

Lots of praise for Benny Skow and Harris. Two players that can be moved around. Somehow I don't see Harris in the traditional role of blocking as a TE. It will be interesting to see his and Benny's use when he is fully recovered and the pads come on. Also, the RBs situation will be interesting moving into live-action. We could see 3 RBs getting PT during the regular season.

I just realized that the end of the Jalen Ramsey interception take back at the very end he tossed it off to Aaron Donald to take it into the end zone.

Two greats who absolutely respect the hell out of each other!

This type of WR excels with Stafford. Golladay last year and Calvin Johnson for his entire career went after the ball. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

Consensus is the WR group is so deep that several cuts will be coveted by other teams for their 53 man roster. Would the Rams keep a WR 7 as an asset for trade should they come up short in any other position (e.g. RB)?

Well they kept 6 WRs last year, but also had 5 RBs and 4 TEs.

They probably won't, but I could see them keeping 8 WRs, 4 RB, and 2 TEs with 2 of those 8 WRs being big slot types in Harris and Skowronek. Of course this would probably mandate having 2 TEs on the practice squad.

The issue would then become who is active on game day. The way things stand now, Atwell would probably have to win the punt return job just to be active. And T. Jackson would probably just be warming the bench waiting for an injury or injuries.

If you’re going to add pineapple to your pizza you might as well go all the way and put canned beets on your prime rib steak.

I know there were no defenders in anyone's face but watching Stafford throw the ball to Harris, that kid can sure run. I don't think there will be a tight end in the league as fast as he is. If they can incorporate him in the deep game, it sure would open things up underneath and for the run.
I think the fact they put Stafford back in there to throw that ball to Harris is an enormous tell. Not sure if this guy's gonna make year one impact of course but it won't be due to lack of trying on McVay's part. The fact that people at Rams Park are referring to him as a unicorn on top of some of these tells is enough for me think that's coming.

They're gonna feature him this year, we can bank that IMO.

I would move Skow to the TE group. The two blocking TEs would be Higs>Mundt. The two move guys would be Harris>Skow.

Hopkins would need to beat out Skow or Mundt to stick on this roster.

I agree. Skowronek, in my opinion, could be exactly what we need in the HB department - a guy who can move all over, including at fullback. Call me crazy, but I think he could be what Kyle Juszczyk is for the Whiners, only receiving.

I honestly have no idea if Skow could do a little fullback. But he's a big and tough dude. So count me in with folks around here who like what he adds.

And btw... Agree whole heartedly that the value of guys who can make contested catches goes way up with Stafford at QB. He will routinely make the riskier throws and let his wideouts get after it. Goff was not that type of QB. So maybe that's a really big factor here in a reload of the bottom of the roster.

Which of course needed to happen. Bottom of our wideout roster last year was shit IMO. 2021 is gonna be night and day there.

Yeah Atwell kind of fucked himself tbh and you may be right about him needing to win that punt job. I don't care if the dude has the vax or not, but given the way these rules are IF you don't have it the last thing you want to do is get that shit right before camp (we'll find out early next week if he's in that group or not). I do think that regardless the Rams will work hard to get him involved but yeah it's possible he gets redshirted if he misses the full camp. Especially if some of these other guys step up in the offense and there are quite a few options for that.

T Jackson stepping up is a surprise to me. Didn't see that one coming. But it's cool to see more pressure and more competition. That is always a good thing even if it keeps the coaches up nights trying to figure out the cuts.

It's going to be tough. We have Woods, Kupp, Jefferson, Desean Jackson, Atwell, Trishton Jackson, and Skowronek at wideout, all of whom look like keepers. Then there's Higbee, Harris, Hopkins, and Mundt at tight end. And at running back, even without Akers, there's Henderson, Funk, Jones, and maybe Calais as a special teams player. And that's not even counting the offensive line and quarterback. And even then, there's the defense to consider.

We're going to lose some talented players to other teams when final cuts happen.
