This 100%. Many around here just wishing a "speedy recovery" dont understand the impact of an aquilles tear. The worst injury he could've suffered without a doubt. And "could be" career threatening is the understatement of the century.. it will alter his career. Thats the shittiest part about this injury. No one around here can name one elite level RB who tore an aquilles and came back as strong afterwards. It's just never happened.

I remember an Achilles bruise I got from playing catcher at a summer camp. I could barely walk on that foot, and every time I did, it hurt. And that was a bruise, not a tear. Tears, like you said, alter lifestyles, not just careers.

I feel so sorry for Cam; he's got so much potential, this team had so much potential, and now it's just gone.

he is a FA currently
train

Still think Gore would make more sense than Bell. He is a stand up guy and we would only need to drain 1 more year out of him. I'm sure he would rather chase a ring than tutor players on a team like the Jets again.

Henderson is more than capable of being a very strong 1000+ runner, but like
Cam he has a hard time staying on the field.

If we do pick up a old vetran RB I would prefer Adrian Peterson over
Todd Gurley, LeSean McCoy,Frank Gore,

Adrian was able to rush for 600yds and a 3.9ypc with the Lions.
He would make a decent 2 or 3 back or a 1 in a pinch

Fuck it, try every RB out and try to poke around for any trades to see what's out there. I'm predicting AP or a trade with the Texans for one of theirs. Hope I'm wrong and we do better than that lol

Too much bad water under Todd's bridge. The Rams are still in decent shape with Henderson and Funk. Otis Anderson IMO would be better than Jones. So in essence they are really looking for a #4 who can be signed after the last cutdowns in Sept. Until then I think Jones stays on the roster but would be surprised if he's still on it at the end of the season.

I think the severity of Aker's injury has yet to be determined so hopefully he can return next year. Only about 20% of these injuries are immediate career enders. That said the athlete normally doesn't return to full 100% preinjury form. Studies have shown that about 64% return to play in the NFL. But follow-up over the following 3 years shows a significant decrease in games played and performance. He potentially can play for a number of years, but probably not at his pre-injury level and more likely at a backup level. The Rams are looking at another Gurley type of injury going forward long term so assuming he returns next year his contract expires in 2024.

IMO the Rams will be drafting another RB next year.

My guess is they ride with what they have and then grab an available vet after week 1 of the season, unless Henderson and crew struggle in TC/pre-season

Leveon Bell was the best running back in football until he started mouthing off. But he was also worthy of a new contract, and the Steelers didn't do him any favors by offering him 1-year contracts. The jets ponied up but that was the jets, after all. And he really wasn't needed or wanted in KC. I say bring him in. He could be just what the team needs. JMO. Feel bad for Cam Akers though.

WtF!!

smh.. just logged on and seen this. How sad and devastating is this! Fml……,

Exactly why I wanted to take a beast in the backfield because RB’s get hurt more than any other position.

Have this still from draft day. Makes more sense than drafting a 150 lb Tavon Austin Jr.

im sad now…
