More than just one mistake. A mistake is a one-time thing; what Fowler's doing is a pattern. And Greg Robinson's young as well. Do you want him back?

I have no idea if this rumor has any credibility or not (probably not), but it is a rumor that we have to report. I don’t know why the Jaguars would make this trade at all, but their fans seem excited about it.
In this trade, the Rams would trade Tavon Austin to the Jaguars for Dante Fowler Jr. Fowler just got into some legal trouble, but he should be fine to play.
I’d love this trade, but it seems too unrealistic to me. Keep your ears open, Rams Nation.

Robinson got his and quit, not the same situation at all
train

Not the point. I was pointing out that Robinson is also young, like Fowler. Unlike Robinson, though, Fowler has a series of character issues.

On July 18, 2017, Fowler was arrested in St. Petersburg, Florida for simple battery and committing mischief. Fowler confronted a man who commented about his driving, struck the man, broke his glasses, and threw a bag containing liquor into a lake. He was released from jail the next day on a $650 bond. On March 1, 2018, Fowler was sentenced to one year probation, 75 hours of community service, and $2575 in fines after pleading no contest to battery, criminal mischief, and petty theft.

He has a history of this stuff. And he's not even a good player. He's not even a mediocre player. He's a total bust with a bunch of character issues.

Robinson had major character issues, he liked money and didnt like Football

Train, that's not even close to the same thing. Fowler likes money as well (who doesn't?) And it doesn't matter if you like football or not if you're terrible at it. Fowler is a below mediocre player who happens to have severe legal problems off the field.

I'll repeat that I'd hate this trade, if it was true.

I'm not sure you are being completely fair here. Quinn had some character issues in college as well, sitting out a season at N.C. before entering the draft. Quinn was a DE who became an OLB for Wade, while Fowler played OLB in college and was moved to DE by Jax. They both had similar stats last season and Fowler is 4 years younger. jmo.

I loved him coming out. Would make that trade. Haven't looked at his cap hit though...

Fowler's 2018 Base Salary is $3,638,216. Like Peters, he'd be eligible for a 2019 5'th year option if the Rams make it happen.

I’m gonna trust the Rams FO and McVay and Wade on this.

If they make the trade and believe they can succeed with Fowler, I’m not gonna question.

I mean, he’s not gone south of the Leonard Little line.

And I believe in the intentionality of McVay and crew. Not that they won’t miss on guys, but they have a plan.

A lot of people felt the same about Greg Robinson. I think this will play out the same way.

Unfortunately Greg Robinson didn't / doesn't / will never have the same abilities as Tavon. No matter what you think of the pay check he was given, which seams to be most people's gripes - Tavon IS an electrifying threat and has had some stunning games for the Rams - that game in which he tore the Colts apart was one of my all-time favourite games to watch!

The only thing Greg Robinson threatened was being penalised!

....

Perhaps if Tavon had not damaged his wrist last off-season and had participated fully in TC and if Sammy had arrived early enough to truly connect with Jared rapport-wise, his big play ability would have attracted enough attention to allow Tavon more room in the open field. With NFL defenses so used to swarming the area around elite offensive speedsters with defenses, Tavon was always going to need other playmakers to siphon off the rabid attention he drew from DCs. Too bad things did not work out for him here.

I think the wrist injury had a lot to do with a lacklustre season from Tavon.

Among all the things that I think are working against Austin with the Rams right now it is his terrible ball security. McVay says it a lot, "it's all about the ball". And he means NOT turning it over. After 4 dropped punts he got yanked from the PR spot.

Austin is certainly not trusted by McVay based on those fumbles and the fact that he only gave him 59 rushing attempts and 13 receptions. I think McVay gave him he ball enough to make the Jet Sweep something to beat defenses with on fakes.

I'm not sure what happened but he seemed to really regress after a couple of years where he was decent and flashing incredible play making ability.

Again I think this goes back to the injury, he was always relatively secure in ball retention in the Fisher years...

Just got inside of his own head I think. Goes back to his ego being bruised by the competition being brought in. Not in a way that it made him angry or a bad teammate but just that I think he was suddenly not "the guy" anymore and he started to worry about his job for the first time in his life probably. He was never very sure handed to begin with anyway so add in some nerves and it spelled doom for him. A clean start some where might rejuvenate his confidence so he can at least be a role player for someone.

Hopefully, Cooper doesn't experience the same regression after a playoff performance that could haunt a players career.

I'm not sure if it was Tavon's 'ego' but I think he did get inside his own head, I think missing TC didn't help, the wrist injury didn't help, I remember reading some Tweets / IG messages by him talking about it was the most pain he's ever been in - this type of thing can screw with your head, he'd always been a solid player, hardly ever injured, this type of thing can seriously starts messing with you, where you question your own durability and therefore your ability...

Catching the high ball, doing that hand-of to break a tackle... If I was him I'd get a sports psychologist and try and get my head sorted out...

It's always that one Colts game that people reference. Are there any other examples of how great he can be, or did he just get lucky that one time?

For what it's worth, I'm sure GRob had one single game where he did a great job blocking the whole game. And he's huge, strong, whatever else. His physical talent was why almost everyone thought he would at least be an all pro guard.

In both cases in turns out you have to be good at football too.

Nope. Never happened.

With regards to TA - there were plenty of times where he showed his worth at returning, only to be called back for some penalty or other by a team mate... There are countless times where we've seen him lay a stunning block, and heard Gurley give him props for creating the space for him to reel off a big run. Not everyone can be at the top of their stat chart, football is a team sport. I'm sure if Tavon's pay check would be smaller people would have a different opinion of him. Me personally, I couldn't care about their pay checks - they all make more money than me, and I think they're all over-paid, but that's another story.

Anyway, here are his best bits...
