Yeah some guys just get open somehow. Skow's one of those guys I think. I just really appreciate his game when I go through the film and he's kicking ass on teams, then laying blocks as a lead blocker in the run play, then challenging safeties deep. He is actually a really, really nice combination of skills in a player.

I know I haven’t been to training camp yet. Last season though I did post & say Ben Sko was going to make the team from Day 1.
I don’t know where you were from your standpoint was. I like Jacob Harris’s upside still. From a blind eye though Ben Skow looked the part.

When I made that assumption it has(had) history on it. With it ? Whatever- I’ve missed the first part of this season, but years past you can always get an idea of what the HC(oc) is working on.
I have to compare Ben Sko to Woods,Cooks,Austin in the fact Mcvay likes crossing & change of pace(cross field stuff. Maybe that doesn’t make much sense though.

To be fair, our DL was probably our strongest unit already and the Rams needed a lot of help elsewhere on the roster!
…so yeah, grab a DL.

It is what it is,but Les Snead was part of that years picks. I only look at the BAD of that draft. It’s amazing how AD99 worked out.
I would not agree that The D-Line had the most depth up the middle at DT. Who would’ve thought though a Twinner like AD99 could change the position like a Warren Sapp did.

I’d like to see Skow add 20lbs and move to TE as the Ram’s version of Mark Bavaro.
Ben Sko & Harris are class of 2022 that are connected.Harris should be that guy.
Wondering about Hopkins ? Blanton last training camp stood out going over the middle.
Anyways.

I sure am glad we picked Brian Quick over Alshon Jeffrey, that was the most amazing workout I've ever seen. - Jeff Fisher.

Wow - yes .

A.Jeffrey had a Freshman season at South Carolina. Then got hurt, but was the best WR going into the next MCAA

I will just never forget the interview Jeff Fisher gave where he was talking about how they hired a helicopter to give Brian Quick a personal workout at Appalachian State, (NC).

He mentions how they were all stunned to silence with the amazing workout they had just witnessed.
And how they looked at each other wide-eyed in the helicopter ride back to the airport.

Jeff Fisher might want to let the professionals handle player evaluations in the future.

Yeah, they took QB Kellen Clemens with them for the workout and Clemens stated you have to draft this guy. I don't doubt Quick had a great workout, he just couldn't adapt to the next level and obviously there were better options.

I wasn't all that excited by Skow, think I was wait and see and hoping they would hit on Harris. Dieter was the one all over his nuts. I just grew to appreciate him and I recognize his contributions to a championship team as a rookie wideout.

One of those options *might* be productivity at a high level against higher competition.

For instance, The SEC.
Where Jeffrey was a monster.

The highest rank, (pre-draft pundits) Quick was ranked was as a fifth round draft pick but most people had him as a udfa.

I'm pretty sure he would have been there in the fourth round if Fisher wanted him so badly.

Sometimes you just fall in love with guy and have to have him. I guess that's why you need to follow & trust your process. Travis Scott out of Arizona State is a good example, Rams Coach Mike Martz watched him workout and could not believe his strength. Many of the scouts advised Martz that he would be there much later even as an UDRFA, but Martz scoffed at them because they had been wrong about a couple of other players and thus the Rams drafted Scott in the 4th round and he never played a down of professional football. Egad!

Lewis and Garrett are way ahead of Hardy at this point.
As they should be. They've been here and in a pro training regimen. Hardy's a freak but he's also a late bloomer from a lower level of competition that needs a ton of work on his technique.

So if Hardy has a role in year one it will be as a third down/pass rush specialist. He won't be out there on run downs. For him right now the goal should be to show on teams to be up on gameday and be ready to make the most of the plays they do let him out there. Looking at the preseason games they're his chance to show rush impact and he needs to flash if he wants the coaches to make room for him in that role.

Jrry was banging the drum for AD - only reason they picked him - same thing with Kupp

Not to mention Trung Candidate... but I couldn't help mentioning him anyway.

I was banging the drum for AD about a week before the draft. No because of any unique perception before anyone else, but I saw a tape from a Pitt game where AD tackled a RB and QB simultaneously. It blew my mind.

But then, I also though Gregg Robinson was the best LT in the draft, because he was a physical freak. I didn't know he was a mental midget as well and would have chosen him over AD due to need.

Greg Robinson just wanted to work on his RAP songs during training and between games

That's one of the things that revisionists miss about the Robinson pick.. he was, truly, a physical freak.
Now.. I have no idea if Snead & McVay would make that choice if in the same situation now.. but I seriously, seriously doubt it. I think their evaluation of players at this point would eliminate him from consideration.

I've been on the sidelines for a few NFL games and, granted it was just warmups.. but I've never seen a guy that size move as fluidly as he did.
