That is a lot to pay for what is right now a one year rental. I don't care if he "might" re-sign....its a Watkins situation all over again instead this time is cost a first. I love me some Cooks, but that is still a steep price to pay with no sign that Cooks is interested in signing before trying FA.

Yes there is cap room next year, but the list of guys to extend is pretty long as well. Even if they don't bring all these guys back, here are the projected FA starters. Donald, Suh, Talib, Peters, and Joyner just at notables on D without much to speak of at LB outside of Barron (who everyone seems to want to cut already anyways). Gurley(possible 5th year option at around 10m), Saffold, Brown, Havenstein, and the mentioned Cooks are notables on O.

There is a LOT more than 100m in cap hits in that group alone. This is getting a 2018 or bust feeling going pretty quickly here.

talib has 2 years to go. donald will hopefully be extended before the season starts. suh is probably gone. peters has 2 years to go with the 5th year option. joyner, the rams have a decision to make, although the safety market is very weak.

.

People coming around...kool-aid pouring...

This is a win, don't get caught up in the what ifs. Get caught up in the right nowz. We are going for it, and we will continue to go for it. Dang, it's not our money. Spend that shit, get us that SB!

Bottom line, is that I think we all want sustainability, but these moves don't mean that we can't have that. If a Cooks = was there at our pick, we would probably take him, but there's no guarantee there is, #1. #2, if a player would drop, like him, there's no guarantee the kid would EVER be able to play at the levels that Cooks, has already shown he can play at his young age. #3 He makes Mannion a hell of a lot better...FACT!

#4 He abstains from weed, coke, and nasty hookers.

#3 was a joke, but true.

The Rams really need to pull out some great picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds in the next two drafts. Last year's 3rd and 4th rounds produced good players, gotta do it again and all is good!

OK, we've got our speed burner who can flip the field anytime in our favor. Time for Jared to start calling up his fly guys and establishing some super smooth connections. Josh Reynolds and Mike Thomas can continue to develop without undue pressure to be a starter right away. Jared gets to practice and refine his deep ball accuracy. Pharoh Cooper and Cooper Kupp also get to refine their own deep ball accuracy in case Sean dials up another receiver option play like he did last year.

We need LBs and backup OL personnel. Time to extend our control over the NFC West to the entire NFC and, ultimately, the entire NFL!

There is no way the Rams made this move without knowing they're in the ballpark irt contract discussions. Or so I hope. Love the addition even at a round one pick cost, however they cannot afford to let this dude bail out. Signing him is absolutely necessary.

So for me nothing's changed. Demoff's up to bat and I'm waiting for some kind of production. If I'm the owner right now I love the look of the moves but not the roster over time. That has to be fixed and I pray it's soon.

We are not done in the wheeling dealing aspect of moving picks. Mark my words, we will get at least a couple valued players in this draft. Valued to us. We could end up with another 4th, most likely, a third would be steep, but doable, and a 2nd is near impossible.

I knew there was a reason I'm not on Reddit.

That 8 minute wait time... is maybe the dumbest thing I've ever encountered in the modern web. There are times I'm barely on my phone that long and I'm supposed to engage with 1 post and done?

Yeah, I'm done with Reddit. I don't' want to have to "earn karma" with each freaking subreddit in order to join the conversation.

Beyond dumb. Stupid. Beyond...is there a word beyond stupid? Cuz it would be that.

I usually just read it for the lol factor. There are a few times I get twitter alerts posted that I didn't see and relay them here. But normally it's just for threads like this. That reaffirm how we all feel for our division rivals, especially the ones from the bay area.

How many 6th round picks could you trade to get a 1st round pick? Asking for a friend.
According to the draft value chart, 6th round picks are worth around 20 points or so.

At slot #23 in the first round, the Rams pick was worth 760 points.

So, packaging 6th round picks for the overall #23 pick would require approximately 38 6th rounders.

We currently have five sixth rounders. So, if we can just pick up another 33 6th rounders, we could swing a deal to get back into the first round.

Profit

Les Huge Balls Snead hit 5 out 7, no?:yess:

Don't forget Peters.

I have a really good feeling that he's gonna stay and be an anchor for WPs D.

I was going to say the same thing...MP22 is a major piece for our team moving fwd

The one thing I can say for Cooks is that he has the ability to be one of the best all-around WRs in the NFL if McVay maximizes his potential. Plus, he can run the Austin jet sweep.

So we can cut TA then LOL

Looks like the Rams are skipping the draft this year. We're already loaded. I swear everyday is a freaking surprise, and this trade was out of left field wasn't expecting it, but Cooks is the man vertically.

I was kinda thinking the same thing.
Snead has developed a revolutionary way of building a roster through the draft:
Let the other 31 teams do the drafting, then cull the picks they get right by trading for them!

Look, I trust McVay and Snead. The duo hasn’t really failed us yet. My initial reaction wasn’t much excitement because I wanted to see us grab a stud LB in the 1st and I was hoping to see what we could do with Josh Reynolds. However, if McVay was pining for this guy (and he is young), from a logical perspective in regard to 1st rounders panning out, I guess it’s worth it. Only time will tell. Regardless, I’ll be open minded to most things this FO does until they actually screw up. My only concern at this point is paying all these players (and I get that we’re “all in” this year..hopefully we can retain most of these players in the future).

Nailed it. That's exactly how I feel. Once this guy is extended, this deal will look like a great move; but I am concerned about all of the contracts coming up next year. $100 million doesn't go as far as it used to.

Reynolds will see time, just not as much now.

So what you're saying is that the Rams should not draft an OT in the 1rst round, right?
Man, flush those 3 turds and the Rams have actually done a pretty good job-- only a couple other bad picks.
