1. Demby: will practice with the first string this week, will get better.
2.Blythe: "cautiously optimistic" = 1-2 weeks missed

Time to dust off Coleman Shelton this will allow them to keep Demby in his current role while this thing with Blythe resolves itself. I don't see Shelton as a long term starter at RG but he might be okay as a temp fill in and most importantly no roster move will be necessary.

The only real concern with Blythe is if there is a fracture or ligament damage. Either one could necessitate a roster move. IMO that would mean bringing Brewer up from the PS which is why they only carry 8 o-line normally on the active roster. If they do make a roster move I hope it's not Kolone because he struggled in pre-season against backups.

I wasnt that impressed with Demby when he came in yesterday, I thought there was a notable drop off from Blythe who I've complained before gets no credit from the otherwise wonderfully knowledgable rams fans on this site. I hope I am wrong when I say that we might all appreciate him a bit more in his absence next week.

But Demby will get a week with the ones and hopefully they'll scheme him some help too. Let's see how he gets on with a full week to prepare and not coming in cold like he did yesterday. He did at least outperform the Saints backup guard who came in! (I forget the name...).

McVay, post game, only mentioned an ankle. Never said anything about a knee. I think talk about the knee is fake news!
No, watch the replay and you'll see the knee was trying to bend the a wrong way as well. It must not have reached the point of injury though which is great. Here's to the ankle healing quickly.

I was particularly mentioning how "McVay" described the injury in his post game presser. He only mentioned an ankle issue. He didn't say anything about his knee being injured.

When I saw it, it didn’t look that bad to me.

No knee involved. Ankle sprain didn’t look gruesome, I don’t think he completely tore any ligaments.

Also, sprain was rolling inward (low ankle sprain). Had it rolled outward, then it might’ve been the dreaded ‘high’ ankle sprain. But that’s not what happened.

2-3 weeks is my guess

Wow, that was a brilliant call. Are you a doctor or an athletic trainer?

My concern is the other teams also getting to gameplan for Demby. I trust Kromer but gotta say when it comes to Demby I think he might be letting his emotions get in the way of the best decision for the team. But would love nothing more than to be proved wrong so we'll see.

Thanks for the props, jrry.

No, I’m not in the medical field, but maybe I should be! Reading about medicine is a hobby of mine. I’ve had a ton of sports-related injuries over the last decade, and I just got in the habit of researching this stuff. Plus my best friend is an urgent care doc, and we chat about medical stuff a lot.

Honestly, I think I can diagnose this stuff better than some medical folks... it’s all about common sense, educated guesswork, and knowing where to look on the net for reliable information.

Okay, you win, @Corbin . Let's see what Edwards can do.
Lol my friend I’m just glad we have very good depth now compared to years past! I’m telling you Snead is literally beasting it right now with finding talent at the mid to bottom of the draft and UFA’s!

Have no clue how you settle bets? Lol let’s see!

Thought the same thing (brilliant call that is). Don't know if it's accurate but it made sense to me. I honestly never thought of the direction of the ankle turn but it definitely seems logical.

I think most of us have had a sprained ankle or five but I've personally never thought beyond, oh fuck that hurt, and how blue and purple is this mother fucker going to get?

I kind of wish we could upgrade our depth at Guard... I give all the credit in the world to our O-Line coach because we haven't missed a beat regardless of what has happened, or who we have in..

but I'm getting nervous we aren't going to be able to keep pulling that off...I'd feel better if we could get us a better OG whose disgruntled on their current team...lol..

RG Austin Blythe suffers ankle sprain with a day-to-day diagnosis
Good news!

It sounds like the Los Angeles Rams have dodged a bullet on the injury front as RG Austin Blythe has divulged that he suffered an ankle sprain on Sunday during the Week 2 game against the New Orleans Saints:

On slo-mo replay of the injury, you could see Blythe hyperextending his knee and twisting the ankle. It looked...quite painful. For him not to have suffered more damage to the knee and only have sprained the ankle is about as good of news as we could have gotten.

Still, there’s no timetable yet for his return. No official injury information has to be divulged until the injury report on Wednesday. We’ll see how things develop, but should he miss time it’d be OL Jamil Demby coming in as the next man up. Demby’s not the most popular reservist, but I thought he actually played relatively well on Sunday and certainly better than the expectations he was facing when he came in.

That being said, here’s hoping Blythe gets well soon. If nothing else, he’s lucky not to have suffered more than an ankle sprain on the play.
UPDATE..Blythe is day-to-day
