Seems quite a few owners are just as bad as the one that moved the Rams from LA to St. Louis and would usually hire the worst HCs available.
So glad those days are gone!
Agreed man. Stan was different from day one. First hire he made was the best available coach in Fisher and he gave him time through the move before he made the inevitable decision. Then McVay was a grand slam. Owner matters. If you don't have an owner with a brain, you fucked.

I mean look at Georgia and how quickly she fucked up a good situation with Vermiel. I'm still surprised she didn't fire him in '98. :laugh3:

Having an owner with Billions of Dollars is a blessing too. Now some are not as good with that money, but Georgia was like Dean Spanos, the team was her income, whereas with Enos Stanley Kroenke, his sport teams are part of his legacy.

They fired GM John Robinson who had done a good job there to hire Carthon and now Carthon is fired. Amy Adams Strunk is proving to be just as good of an owner as her Daddy Kenneth Stanley "Bud" Adams Jr.
I remember thinking John Robinson must not have made her feel like a special princess when he sat down with her. Granted I'll give the girl credit for holding the GM accountable for a big offseason that resulted in a shit show. Though that should not have been a surprise when you're trying to work the kinks out of a young QB when you have roster issues.

But that defense was a steaming pile of shit too. In total they were without a doubt one of the worst teams in this league.

Keeping Callahan in place isn't a bad decision, since he probably has a better chance of doing well in his job than the GM did. But all that aside it felt like that roster lacked fight on gameday. And that's head coach wheelhouse right there. Also what the hell is his plan going forward and how does he explain the defense.

Interesting article on this on SI about Grubb pissing off the head coach. (It's not like he said he wanted to bang his fiancé, or called a surprise fake punt without permission).

Sounds impatient to shit-can a decent OC who helped a team over achieve 10 wins in his first year in the NFL.
More than once we've all bitched at McVay for abandoning the run - - probably lost a few games because of it. Grubb, likely would have self-corrected some of those situational errors in year 2 and learned from this season. Doesn't seem like the type of play caller who would regress.

But, similar to Bones, never a good idea to cross the head coach.

Oh well, Glad to see the she-cocks blowing it up and starting over with the offense.

a recent poll claims that 43% of fans blame Kraft for the bad season the Pats had, 40% said it was Mayos fault, and another 18 percent blame lack of talent

I'm thinking Kraft realized the mistake he made in hiring Mayo, leading to the early firing
And 100% of people outside of Patriot land think their fans have unrealistic expectations

So.....do the Pats lose a 3rd rd pick for firing their minority coach? Just wondering how this all works.

Its frustrating to lose coaches every year, but at the same time it speaks volumes about how good McVay really is. McVay just keeps winning with new coaches. It seems like almost every week the Rams face a team with a coach that was once a Rams coach under McVay.
Let’s think about that for a minute.
Would it be easier to try and find the right HC for your young QB in NE or Chicago or the HC to come turn around a broken franchise like the jets or jags OR…just let McVay do the scouting and hiring and just go poach one of HIS coaches?

In fairness, the Rams franchise was already turning around before McVay.

It started when Kroenke took over. He put a solid front office in place with Demoff and Snead. Then he hired Fisher. The organization was slowly ascending from the grave when they hired McVay who obviously was the crowning piece needed to take the organization to top tier status.

It's gonna take more than a brilliant HC hiring to turn these teams into winners. If I'm a young HC candidate I'd run from broken organizations that don't have a solid ownership and front office in place.

The Jets owner is a moron. Though that aside I'd be interested to hear who Rex's OC will be, just for a good laugh.
