I get needing at least some pieces there and being able to accentuate them but I'd like that kind of ego wanting to build his own thing. Drafted Reynolds and Kupp signed Watkins and Wood along with drafting Everett to go with 2nd year Higbee.

And that's why I have no issue with a great coordinator being picky about the situation he inherits. You want to set yourself up to win.

I like Chicago's QB and I agree they have talent. But I don't like owners who need to have football types explaining shit to them. Which is my perception of their owner. Nothing against her, she seems like a nice lady and all, but this game requires an owner to be competitive and even when certain types get a hire of a coach right it seems like things will revert due to that.

Kraft is a dirty little piece of shit but I think he has a good grasp of the game. He was smart enough to go after Parcells first, so he knew he wanted that defensive potency via the Giants bloodline. And the moment Belichick emerged he outmaneuvered the Jets to get him. I recall that moment it happened recognizing he had good instincts because Belichick was a super elite DC with a knack for befuddling offenses in big games.

This is why I was so surprised he hired Mayo last year. Who to me felt like a DEI hire all the way, and a major deviation from the hire that put Kraft on the map which was based fully on years of excellent defensive scheming. We'll see what he does this year. I am no fan of the dude by any means. I just would choose him over some daughter who inherited the team and needs to have shit mansplained to her by a circle of sycophants. Now you may think my take is over the top or whatever and that's cool. Just how I see it.

Eh....mebbe but it was rather obvious to me that Vrabel's problems started when Tannehill regressed back to his usual ineffectual self.
Once that happened there really wasn't much left for Vrabel (or anyone else) to do.

Vrabel had a decent OC with Arthur Smith and then when he left the replacement was not that good. That is why pairing him with McDaniels is key and everything in New England sets up well. Ownership willing to win, young QB and cap room so unless another team blows Vrabel away I believe they fired Mayo to hire Vrabel although they will want to interview other Coaches because they did not do that in their search with Mayo.

'The Patriots needed a culture change. Belichick was a surly, my-way-or-the-highway coach. That worked as long as Brady had his back and BB had all those Lombardi's. It was reported Mayo took the same approach and was "BILL II" to many of the players.....with no experience to draw on. Certainly not the Lombardi's. The funny thing is Vrabel won't be a culture change, though he has a wealth of experience and Maye IS NOT Tannehill. Reportedly, the OC could be McDaniels.'

I think the wiser move would be Ben Johnson. And he's interviewing with both New England and Chicago this week. ****Not the Jets****. But I get the feeling Kraft may want to go with experience (Vrabel) over offensive savant. It's definitely going to be interesting to see.

Offense: Johnson, Coen, Kingsbury and dark horse McCarthy (should he leave the Cowboys). Sarkesian has been mentioned (by some) for the Dallas job but the amusing thing I heard was "isn't the Texas job better?"

Defense: Vrabel, Glenn, Flores. Is there a dark horse? Like Minter? Or Pete Carroll (god no!!!)
