Big off-season question: Do the Rams keep Goff next year?

Yup. You don't think the Rams are going to restructure him this off-season then trade him the minute they do? That's what I would be doing. They did the same thing to tavon
 
It's not a fair question and it's not even a realistic thought about getting rid of him. 2021 will see Jared Goff on the Rams roster. 2022 they can make a move and not shoot themselves in every foot in the building financially.

Jalen Hurts was a second round pick.

Personally, I'd go for a top center. There's good wide receivers later on in the draft, but a top center like Myers or Humphrey would transform this team.

But we cannot ignore our defense. An outside linebacker is a must, since I highly doubt we'll keep Floyd or Ebukam. Likewise, a top inside linebacker could seriously upgrade our defense.

The developmental quarterback I have my eye on is Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati).

The most frustrating thing about Goff is in other seasons, he's looked like a top 10 QB and since then has had games where he should've been benched (MIA). His surrounding cast isn't all world but Goff has also failed to improve if not damn near regress in some areas (decision making, pocket presence/awareness).

Goff is no doubt talented but also can't be ignored that at times has looked like one of the WORST QB's in the league while playing in an offense (designed by an offensive guru) that is SPECIFICALLY tailored to mask any of Goff's/Offense's weaknesses with lots of play action, short yardage passing, etc...

I think he's our guy for next year (even tho he deserved to lose some time to Wolford this year IMO) but we have to look at the reality...He's former #1 overall pick, making top 5 QB $$$, has a top 3 Defense, has an Okay O line, a good WR corps and has had bench worthy performances against some of the worst teams in the league in his FIFTH YEAR as a starter. We should do everything we can to upgrade the o-line and improve the supporting cast but I wouldn't mind an insurace policy taken in the draft.

Goff can be damn near cerebral with a clean pocket and time (not really a throw he can't make) and a good center would keep him from having to step up and throw with pressure in his face (Which Goff basically refuses to do at this point) or use his legs and play hero ball (turnover city).

They have no choice but to keep him. Build the line and add a WR and see what Goff can do again. Trading him for Wentz is the only thing that makes sense as at least the money would be similar and you could see what you get out of him. Philly would never do that as they like Hurts and Goff is not their answer either. Alternatively I would like to see what Perkins looks like as a mobile QB is what this league is about and Goff is not that.

Neither Wentz nor Goff are tradable, the accelerated cap hit for both is like 60 mill apiece
But I do like Perkins

IMO, that why you draft somebody early this year and reevaluate in 2022 as @JackAttack85 so eloquently communicated.

I would love for Wolford to light it up, but I'm not sure that will be the case. Draft someone like Jamie Newman, (who I like) 3rd round, however, knowing the Rams they will draft someone like Sam Ehlinger or Kellen Mond and see how Goff responds.

Right now my biggest issue with Goff is from the neck up, hopefully, with an offseason of conditioning and maybe they can have him work with Jordan Palmer, we see a different Goff in 2021.
 
of course he will be back next year.

After the past two seasons though - if things don't start getting better, changes will be made.

Some of you forget - GMS, coaches, ect They aren't fans. If they start losing they get fired - they don't have endless time to wait for players to have the light go on.

Goff will likely be the starter next year.

As many of said, he'll be OUR QB next year, mostly due to the dead money and cap situation with his contract, but also, a hopeful rebound year from him which I'm not holding my breath for.

With that said, the Rams NEED to bring in a viable backup that can "compete' with Goff and push him to be better. Draft someone in the 3rd or something.

den is this jordan palmer the same guy that goff went to his second summer. i seem to remember goff going to a qb guru and showing more improvement that year than any other year.
 
If I were the Rams I would ask him to restructure his deal, including have him sign a further extension that provides cap relief across each year. The last two years of which would not be guaranteed. I believe in Goff as I am sure do they

Goff wants to win and so he can help by making sure we can keep our best on defense, as well sign one or possibly two key reinforcement(s) on offense that help him shine

I would let Johnson, Robinson and Everett walk for big deals.

He was the 53rd pick in the draft, so 2nd round.

Jared Goff's cap hit if we were to release him prior to the 2021 season is $65M

There is NO WAY we can even attempt to do anything with him even renegotiating that would allow us to release/trade him prior to the beginning the first day of the 2022 season.

ESPECIALLY in a year when the cap is likely going down by a substantial amount... Goff's not going anywhere.

Also, no one's giving up on Goff when the interior OL is as big or a bigger issue than Jared's current issues, broken finger notwithstanding.
