My guess is C.J. Stroud is the Panthers pick.

This deal is not a good one for the Bears imo.

They move all of the way to 9. They leave a lot of opportunity for teams to jump ahead of them in the draft and pick a player that the Bears are targeting.

I wouldn’t have made this trade so early. It would be funny if after all of the evals are done, the Panthers end up trading out of the #1 pick and get a better deal than they gave the Bears.

Fields is not the future.

IMO this shows the Bears have a few targets they were looking at personally I think they're targeting a LT over any of the defensive players. And this is the Bears first good WR maybe ever?

Who is going to throw him the ball? Fields is not a pocket passer. This is Seattle all over again. Fans crapped on their Oline all year. PFF ranked that Oline 14th. It’s very difficult for a line to block for a QB that is moving sideways so much. The Seahawks line had the same problem with Russell Wilson. The big difference is that Wilson was a much better passer than Fields is.

Maybe the Bears just don’t think much of this years QBs. I think Stroud and Young are better passers than Fields.

I think this is an amazing trade for the Bears and wouldnt be surprised if they still dump fields.
Carolina plays a rookie QB and who knows, they could end up with the worst record in football and the Bears get Caleb Williams.

They're going with Fields this year. Next year when there are two better QB prospects than any in this years draft they now have 2 first round picks as ammo to move up if they even need to move up. And when/if you draft a QB next year you now have a pillar at LT for the future. Their coach is a defensive minded guy who we've seen wants to run the ball which also gives us more reason to think it's a LT on their minds. Add to that the top LT for many people is playing right now in town at Northwestern for an even bigger impact to the fan base.

Knowing they are tied this year to Fields as they've said LT makes too much sense with them moving down to 9 IMO. We're all just guessing here but to me and a lot of Bears fans I'm reading stuff from LT makes a lot of sense. The common though from their fans is pass rush is 1A LT is 1B on their needs.

Stroud is the guy I like best. But none of them have me confident about their future. I wouldn’t take him #1 OA.
After Stroud, I’m not sure any are worth a top 10-15 pick.
Got to agree no true consensus #1 gotta have although the Panthers may disagree. They better get it right.

I disagree with this take. Reich has to know who they want you don't give up that much without an absolute clear vision. They could hand in the card right now if the draft was held today.
Maybe, but the Rams got much more for RG3 and only dropped to the sixth pick. The Skins knew exactly who they wanted and paid dearly for it. Is this package for the Bears really that impressive?

If you believe in the value charts a pick next year is a round lower this year. So, the Bears moved back to the get the ninth pick and DJ Moore, and a late very 2nd rounder this year. Then what could be a mid to late first next year which = a second this year.

So was number one really only worth a first, a soon to be paid WR and two seconds? I’m ignoring the 2025 pick. That’s too far off to estimate but right equals a third round pick.

I think if they had waited they may have gotten more. If Carolina decides to trade back, then they could possibly get a better package closer to the draft.

Thank goodness we don't have to pay that athlete #1 draft pick money down the road! Pick nine is easier on my pocketbook!

Why all the hate on Fields? He’s too talented to dismiss so early in his career. Let’s see what he can do with some weapons. I personally love the move.

I agree. It appears to be just what the Bears needed. Fields should be the starter next year. He’s as good or better than anyone they would have drafted. But Fields needs to be used differently if he is their answer at QB. He will continue yo get hurt if he runs the ball 10 times a game.

Idk if you seen any Bears games last year but he literally didn't have much choice the last few years. Their line has been complete shit, especially getting out of the the bad contracts they had since they drafted Fields. He has the ability to pass and is talented as a passer, not saying he’s Payton Manning but he has the ability to pass from the pocket since his OSU days, me saying this as a Michigan fan watching alot of their games as well.
Corbin since you have watched both Fields and Stroud a lot which one do you think will make the better NFL QB?

Damn you! Lol

I been debating this with myself and honestly both have different strengths to their game. Honestly, if i was a GM id say Stroud, is more towards the direction of a pocket passer and has a fast processor which in my mind is the #1 trait a QB can possess.

If Stroud hoes somewhere with an owner/GM coach combo like they have in Chicago i could see him doing very well like Fields but mire towards the pass side of things.

I should have clarified, it's crap at WR which was my point. And pretty bad at the top. But there's some depth there at some spots that we need.
Dude there is one in about the third i love, Rashee Rice from SMU. Guy is a baller and id love to see him in McVays offense.

He needs serious pro coaching though.

Was not impressed with CJ Stroud against Michigan

Maybe he can be taught
Yeah Stroud had big time trouble with us but did you see him against Georgia? That was an incredible performance and resiliency by him.

67% comp 4/0 TD/INT 348 yards and 23 of 34

Dude balled out against NFL level talent at the highest stage.

For those of you down on Fields, i watched quite a bit of him the last two years, a few just watching him but mostly who they are playing. Dude has literally been running for his life and when he gets to get the team in position this shit happens.

They need to get him an OL and reliable targets and a RB
