.

the browns turned the 1st overall pick into a conditional 5th.

great value once again for the browns. they sure know how to burn through 1st round picks with no return.

Talking heads here in the Bay Area are saying Jimmy G is next domino to fall. He is throwing again. Speculation is he might go to Cleveland if Watson is suspended for the season. No way they trade within the division to Seattle.

That would a good spot for Jimmy G-spot. He would be close to where his college career started.

Not so sure about the SeaHawks. Drew Locks issues are almost all technique related. They get those cleaned up and they could have the QB Denver drafted for. I will wait and see and IMO both the Hawks and Niners are TBD for the first half of the season. If Kyler gets extended, he will quit trying to develop and he will be the same pouty kid he's always been. I do think the Hawks are the #3 team in the division just by how many guys they lost.

Damn!

We should have waited a year and got Mayfield for a fifth.

I so love this game.

Glad Pete Carroll isn't gonna have another option beyond Lock and Smith stinking up the joint.

Carolina is a good spot for Mayfield. They have some talent around him and he's got a good OC situation. He's gonna have to figure out the locker room side though. Coaches can only do so much he's gonna need to lead.

About Mayfield, does anyone really think they can judge his play off his time in freaking Cleveland?

Those people would have screwed up Rodgers, Marino, or any other QB.

just maybe this trade is a career saving move, just maybe...

Yeah but you could say the same about the Jets and it hasn't helped Darnold

Cleveland has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Seattle has The Museum of Pop Culture. Baker has to go to Seattle on this alone. :zany1:
Oh man, I had no idea that the NASCAR Hall Of Fame was located in Charlotte! No wonder he chose the Panthers! :zany1:

I think he is what he is. His personality won’t change. He’s not a leader. He’s not a worker.
He had a good supporting cast. Not as good as in LA, but enough that they should've won their division last year.

OBJ, Landry, Hooper and Njoku at TE
Hunt and Chubb to hand off too.

That's five skill position players who have been to a Pro Bowl before.
He had a great Oline iirc also

Except Darnold has never flashed the NFL upside that Baker had. It's actually incredible when you look at it. Prior to Mayfield playing his first game, Cleveland had gone 2-42-1 in their previous 45. They win 2 of his first 3 games in spite of Hue Jackson's awful coaching. I think his struggles were more to do about fitting him in to a system vs playing in a system that uses his skills best.
With Darnold, he just doesnt have it. Period

Don't know that either of them had it easy but saw this pointed out.

Darnold is 17-32 on teams that are 1-15 without him.

Baker is 29-30 on teams that are 3-2-1 without him.

Yeah wins are not a QB stat I get that. Both teams had a lot of disfunction when the qb's got there hell Browns had what 4 HC and offenses in 2 years?

The Browns won 2 games in 45 prior to Mayfield, Darnold played for a coach who had won 20 games in his previous 3 seasons
Neither sitch was ideal, but Darnold came in to a much better one, a significantly better one
He's a total doosh nozzle and I wouldnt want him as a Ram, but he was darned good as a rookie despite playing in a terrible situation also seemed to have found his way in 2020. Then 2021 hits and Cleveland goes all Cleveland.....

Darnold was always prone to mistakes it seems. I didn’t like him as a prospects. In a few cases those tendencies can be coached out of a QB but in general it is a clue that they don’t have the processing speed necessary for the next level.
