Rams and Giants swap kickers
Los Angeles Rams get: K Graham Gano
New York Giants get: K Samuel Sloman, 2021 sixth-round pick

The Rams look like their old selves on offense and are one questionable pass interference penalty away from starting 5-0. Their biggest concern, strangely, is probably at kicker. Sloman has missed two field goals and two extra points so far, with a 53-yard miss in Buffalo costing the Rams dearly in their 35-32 defeat. The Rams used a seventh-round pick on Sloman, so they probably don't want to cut their new kicker after five games, but this is a team with Super Bowl aspirations. They can't go into the postseason with a kicker they don't trust.

Sloman's Rams have been the second-worst team in the league on scoring kick attempts. The Giants have been the NFL's second-best team on those same plays, in part because their kicker has been off to a hot start. Gano is 13-of-14, including four makes in five tries of 50 yards or more. The former Panthers kicker missed all of 2019 with a broken leg, but he is only three years removed from a Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2017. The Giants are 0-5 and should be trying to amass draft capital; they can get a sixth-rounder here if they're willing to take a shot on Sloman.

No. We can simply sign a kicker if Sloman doesn’t work out for us. And I still have faith in the kid. I don’t want to pay draft capital to get a kicker who’s only slightly better at the moment.

Uh oh... Another Sloman thread... :D

Why would we do that? We need our draft capital.
A 6th though?
If i knew (hypothetically) that we could upgrade our kicker for a 6th i wouldn't hesitate.

I don't want to jinx anything here and it's still early....but if the Rams are in a big playoff game and this rookie has a bad day, this decision will turn out to be awfully costly.

I would do that in a heartbeat. I'm sure the Rams would too. But why would the Giants do it.

If I'm trading a 6th, it's not going to be for Graham Gano.

.

The Rams are scoring tds, not kicking fgs.

The only reason the giants kicker is kicking 50+ yards fgs is that they're offense sucks.

It's all random anyway.

Classic, there are so many things about this that are dumb.
We're going to trade our kicker because he missed 2 XP for a guy who misses on avg 3 XP each season? And has only kicked 4 XP so far this season? Good grief
" with a 53-yard miss in Buffalo costing the Rams dearly in their 35-32 defeat "- Utter nonsense. This wasn't Greg Zuerlein missing a 40 yarder with 5 seconds left trailing by 1, this was the first drive of the game. What cost the Rams 3 points there was the 2 consecutive sacks that pushed them out of makeable range.
And what cost the game was not being able to stop a 3rd and 22
I digress... If you read that article it is loaded with dumb ideas

So was SJD. Kiser and Edwards were 5th round picks. We've had some success on Day 3.

But look at the value of a reliable kicker in close games. If Sloman is worthy of a seventh ground pick, a better kicker is worth a sixth round pick. Besides, it's not like all of Snead's later round selections have panned out. You cannot fairly just name the ones that have. 2018 Jamie Demby John Kelly, Travin Young. 2017 Tandem Smart, Sam Rogers. 2016 Tamarick Hemingway, Josh Forrest, Mike Thomas.

A future 6th round pick is like drafting Greg Zuerlein all over again, he was a 6th rounder. Graham Gano was a pro bowler as recently as 2017 with 96% fg made. How much do you trust Sloman right now with a 50+ yard field goal to win a game? Gano is 4/5 this year on those and was 3/4 in 2018. One year he was 6/6.

Gano is 4/5 this year on those and was 3/4 in 2018. One year he was 6/6.
And he was only 6 out of 14 from 2014-2017
Still and all, dont know why the Giants would take back a kicker in a trade. If they were to trade Gano, they would be writing off the season. Sounds funny to say that being they are 0-5, but the NFC lEast is so bad, they are only 2 games out of first place. Although non guaranteed, why trade for Sloman and his contract? Nah, trade him, get what you can a grab a street free agent. Heck, I heard Liram and McGinness are still looking for work

This is essentially a fan, broadcasting his ideas, to get "clicks". And the world goes crazy over his stuff because it is so far out there. And we would all love to do it in his place. It's fantasy trading.

Id do this trade in a heartbeat and I’d bet Snead would as well.
