Still that bigger CB would probably have to get the vast majority of his opportunities / reps replacing an injured starter. And that quicker LB in this draft class would probably have made more sense after a very significant trade down (Or even a trade up from the 2nd selection). After Styles, the next LB didn't even come off the board until a selection in the 40s.

All things being equal the QBs is the most important and the hardest position to fill, thus it makes more sense to utilize asset(s) to attempt to fill it when the opportunity arises.

McCullough? I'm just can't get my mind around how someone can only have 5 tackles (3 solo) on 310 special teams snaps. I'm not saying he played poorly on defense. But, he wasn't a difference maker and is replaceable, IMO.

Besides, keeping both Edwards, Daniels, and McCullough while only dropping Whittington would give me two more players to drop in my imaginary bad roster scenario.

Fair point on McCullough on STs—and they were bad.

As for the last paragraph, I think you need only lose one of those no-name, unproven LBs to accommodate Daniels. Edwards was already on your roster and I was looking at a straight swap of McCullough over Whittington.

Edwards looks faster to me.

I wonder if he got to train for it like the others.

As I recall he transferred to Kentucky expecting to get an extra year of eligibility prior to being signed as an UDFA.

That is true, he was denied another year of eligibility thus making him available for the draft. I agree about Edwards, he looks faster, but he does have the ability to make difficult catches.

It's basically people falling in love with players on the roster that haven't proven anything yet. Not saying he can't get better but I've seen nothing to show that likely to happen. But then again who knows?

I have a higher opinion on the Rams roster depth and see them just needing more opportunity to shine. Besides, the team put up a buttload of points in games last year without Puka or Adams. And if both go down at the same time there's no solid veteran that's going to save the day. And an above average to great addition probably offers next to nothing on special teams and takes a bit away from the TE packages. But, again, I don't believe this team should need an All-Star roster to win a championship.

Whatever moves made leading up to an into the season will be the tell, but there really is a chance that the team really doesn't see the WR depth as dire as some looking for a veteran name to add to the roster.

JAG and a solid vet that I'm referring to just aren't the same. If you are telling me that there isn't a vet that can beat out a Mumpfield or Whittington, I just don't agree at all. If Puka and or Adams goes down, there is no way to determine if the offense will put up tons of points like last year. I personally think the reason the offense did much better last year is because we had a 2 headed stud RB combo that allowed us to be a more physical offense last year. I hope that happens again, but we shall see. I get that you have a bias towards our lower rostered WRs than most, I just don't. I've seen nothing from any of our young WRs where I can boldly think they'll step up if one of our studs goes down. A solid WR vet with actual good game tape overtime would better than what we have now on the bottom of the depth chart obviously imo. Just because the Rams don't see an issue with the WR depth, doesn't mean they won't miss it and have it bite them in the ass like the secondary last year either.

I'm sure that there are players that can beat out Mumpfield, Smith, and/or Whittington. Just about every player has someone better than them in the league. If the Rams make that trade for AJ Brown, even Davante would have been gone. But, everything doesn't have be (it never is) perfect for success.

You say if Puka and or Adams goes down, there is no way to determine if the offense will put up tons of points like last year. But, then you turn around and seem to suggest that there is a way to tell what's possible with the addition of a solid veteran and I disagree. Both are unknowns.

BTW, I believe the rushing attack AND perhaps, more importantly, the TE usage were major keys to the offense's success. And I believe those TEs can be a bigger matchup problem than just about most solid vet WRs that are or will become available.

Even if one agreed with AI, the main problem will be the differing opinions on who is an solid veteran and who is a JAG. It's doubtful that we will all agree.

Plus, for the purposes of the prior exchange there's no way of telling what would happen in Rams Horns as players could be solid veteran WRs in one year/situation and JAG in another year/situation.

For example, at one point Van Jefferson and Allen Robinson looked like a solid veterans. Since then both have been JAGs.
