1) Isn't there a rule about having x player's lined up on the LOS and how does this picture demonstrate compliance?
2) If jalen is on top of other players, when is he down and how is he allowed to continually squirt forward? He often gets the 1st after a second effort. (happened today)
3) If jalen is allowed to body surf for the first why have none of the times the defense has stripped the ball been called a fumble

My view of the tush push has traditionally been that it's up to the defense to stop it, so I opposed banning it. That said, if the refs aren't going to call the play fairly, they should ban it. As I see it, the options are ban it or call penalties from the booth if the refs on the field won't do it. When the Eagles are false starting every single time and getting away with it because the refs can't see the ball, it's cheating.

OP, to answer your question, not all those guys are on the LOS. Three are off the LOS. As for them letting Hurts off the hook for fumbling, it is BS. If he wants to body surf, wriggle for yards, and reach the ball out, he should have to pay the price. He was still fighting for yards when Kobie (IIRC) ripped it out. Should have been a fumble.

I wished they would allow it to be reviewable for all of the above and to include false starts and/or other penalties. The sideline refs can't see s$$$ from 10 yds away because they are so bunched up.

when is the play dead? when is Jalen considered down? He reaches with the ball and I have seen it grabbed, why no fumble?
Could a D send players after the ball, the landman punch?
The officiating of the lining up and subsequent snap is only part of the issue as I see it albeit a critical part.
Like Jrry I originally was in the it's up to the D to stop it camp but we have migrated far from that.

If the play was whistled dead, that was a fair call. If it was not then that was a live ball and a BS call by the refs.

I don't remember hearing a whistle and don't have access to replay rn.

The whistle was blown before the strip from what I saw/heard.
That was it.
He wasn't down because his knee, hip, elbow etc were not down, but, forward progress stopped and they the blow the whistle.
Its the false starts that irritate me.

I'm not for banning a legal play. But the announcers kept saying Oh well, it's hard to officiate. How hard is it to spot a false start? I've never even seen an ass push get called for a false start even though replays show it happens more often than not. Somehow the ref saw through a pile of bodies to call an inconsequential to the play holding call against Shelton that negates a Rams TD and we had to kick a short FG.

Until an officiating crew has the balls to call it against the Eagles it will continue. I believe sometime this year that will happen, but it takes balls which most of the officiating crews don’t seem to have.

1. Teams need at least seven players “on the line of scrimmage.” The picture you have shows 10 players, there is probably a WR off screen lined up properly. No issues there.

2. The ball should be blown dead when forward progress is stopped. I still saw Hurts trying to get yardage squirming forward on top of the pile. Body part not down, should still be a live ball. That should have ended up as Rams ball.

I think someone else pointed it out above, if the snapper’s helmet is in front of the ball, that is a neutral zone infraction on the offense (offsides). If it’s even or still on top of the ball, probably won’t be called as it’s doesn’t create a perceived advantage. But ahead of the ball, definitely encroachment.

I know the officiating sucked but the Rams have nobody to blame but themselves. When is the last time you have seen two field goal attempts blocked by a team in the 4th quarter of a game? I hope, I don't see Limmer wearing horns again. One thing is a given, " ALL NFL OFFICIALS SUCK"! I can't seem to understand why college games seem to be officiated better than NFL games.

Besides the fact that the officials can't see the false start, nor can they seem to understand that it's a rugby play and not football, nor can they remember that it used to be illegal to push the ball carrier forward... as many of you have already stated... why is Hurts allowed to wiggle his way forward on top of guys? The minute his progress gets stalled the play should be over. I can't believe the league kept it this year.

Bad officiating for sure, but the Rams blew a 3 score lead. Bad redzone offense, two FG's blocked on the road. Take away the bad redzone offense they still held a 3 score lead with a strip sack to start the 2nd half. Offense went to sleep and the Defense couldn't cover the Eagle receivers. Once hurts figured out no one could cover brown they moved at will. Still all the Rams had to do was make very easy FG's and leave with a win on the road against the Eagles. They couldn't get either kick off.
