Yes, it definitely feels as though Coach Mac has difficulty grasping the dialectic. He may need to consult his starting premises and apply Occam's Razor if applicable.

Yes, the law of parsimony, get rid of the unnecessary. What hasn't worked in the past, isn't working in the present, also will likely not work in the future. This of course is only law when all things remain unchanged but hell close enough ;)

Maybe Cam and the other backs are interested in the run game.

I’m being a smart ass but McV clearly wants just enough of a run game to support and disguise his pass offense. Doesn’t sound like an ideal situation for RB’s.
He got a ring didn't he despite his best efforts to lose the Tampa game when they tried to ride him to eat clock and protect a big lead?

My guess he wants to be the guy like Gurley was. Get 20 carries and rarely leave the game. However, I remember Todd Gurley, and Akers is no Todd Gurley.

Akers should be thankful he was getting as many carries as he was in weeks 1-5, with Hendo clearly being the better RB, at least in those particular games.

.

Well, at least we got to enjoy his game in 2020 and he gave us hope moving forward that the Rams would have a great running game.

Injuries suck.

Really like Akers and thought he was going to be special, but you are 100%, Rams literally won a SB without him, they will survive.
And Kudos for the Lloyd Bentsen shade!

Achilles injuries are almost impossible for a RB to come back fully 100%

I have yet to see it.
That stat is a fallacy, plenty of NFL/NBA players have come back from it. The "list" of RB who tore it were mostly end of their career guys or guys who had a litany of injuries. In any event, you see it with Cam. His issue isnt his Achilles, its apparently an issue between him and the coaching staff

I explicitly stated RB - It appears that Akers is afraid to cut to his left which would stress his right foot.

I have seen 3 big holes to the left on only a few of his runs that if Akers had made a cut to the left would have been a much larger gain than what he eventually got.

I have yet to see a RB come back fully 100% from an achilles injury. Maybe they are fully healed but it could be their confidence in the foot is low so they do not take cuts like they used to.

I get that, when he went down it was a regurgitated theory that RB had more difficulty and there's no validity to it. Akers looked awful explosive at times in the playoffs last year and in some games this year. His reluctance to explode seems mental not physical. His fumbling issues are his biggest flaw which I imagine has made his relationship with McVay tenuous
RB's have become a dime a dozen, and when a guy misses significant time, his spot may not be there when he gets back.

Kinda unfair that Akers fumbles are such a huge deal but the QB not only turns the ball over twice a game but a lot of times they are leading directly to scores.

McVay/Coen: Cam we need more urgency from you.

Cam: What's that mean?

McVay/Coen: Breaking tackles and making something of nothing.

Cam: But our starting line is out and the backups suck!

McVay/Coen: We can't be talking like that here.

Cam: It's true though.

McVay/Coen: We can't be pointing fingers. Next man up and everyone needs to adjust to changes.

Cam: But I'm getting hit in the backfield before I can do anything!

McVay/Coen: We're suggesting that you stay home this week.

Cam: What? You giving up on me, coach? After all I been through to come back?

McVay/Coen: We have to do what's best for the team. It's not about 1 player it's about the team.

Cam: That's bullshit coach and you know it! Nobody can run with this line not just me! Trade me if you won't play me.

McVay: We're going to sit you out this game. We'll see if we can work things out.

Okay these aren't the exact words but I'm feeling this kind of vibe.

I'm definitely with those that are very disappointed that Cam appears to be not working out. When the achilles thing happened last year I was totally devastated because there went our bright young talented back for the season. The comeback at the end gave me some hope, but he appears to be limited. Wherever he ends up I hope the kid can help a team.
