Why can’t the replay official or NY step in and tell the game officials it was a penalty?

That cheap shot shows the need for something like the college targeting rules.

Adams should have been ejected.

Without a doubt he should have been flagged, at a minimum. He really should have been ejected for that bullshit and the ref's justification was horse shit. But he got away with it and the Rams ended up sending him and the rest of the shitbirds packing. I know that doesn't make Wolford feel better about it this morning but he has to feel good about the team eliminating them.

If it was Brady or Wilson there would have been yellow flags all over the field.

I also think the refs are allergic to calling a penalty when Goff gets face masked. Saw it several times this year where they missed it. And that includes the NFC championship a few years ago.

I dont believe it was a cheap shot. Adams plays his ass off. It should have been a penalty, but I dont think he should have been ejected.

Ive never thought he was dirty or cheap. He is all about being physical. I dont think he dove with the intention to break someone's neck. I imagine he was hoping to get lower and getting a shot to knock the ball out.

I could be wrong of course and he could be a dirty bitch that tries to hurt people. But never my take.

The whiner fan I watched the 1st half with was yelling at the refs more than I was. We both thought that hit should have been penalized, he thought the officials were favoring the shecocks and kept telling me they wont let sheattle lose. I'm glad the Rams took care of business and didnt let them give the game to the shecocks.

It wasnt a cheap shot man, just unlucky for Wolf. It still should have been a penalty, but once you've declared yourself as a runner diving forward like that against a physical team is a recipe for disaster. I dont think Adams tried to cheap shot him at all.

I've looked at it several times, it wasn't an accident Adams had time to pull up and avoid a hit, he purposely lowered his head an aimed for Wolf's helmet, it WAS a cheap shot

Well they did throw a flag. Why they picked it up, I have no idea. Adams came in low, real low.

It looked like a cheap shot but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Kupp patting Adams on the back while he was kneeling afterwards says a lot.

Undoubtedly should've been a flag though

Normally when a QB goes head first, a guy may tackle him hard mostly to stop his forward progress, but virtually every time a defender goes in with a shoulder or helmet, they get flagged, even if he misses the QB's head.

The non-call is infuriating, but I'm not new to watching football.

That shit looked like something Vontaze Burfict would do. It was gross, unnecessary and dirty af, imho.

IMO they didn't want the devil they didn't know, they wanted the one they did know with his broken thumb, thought Goff wouldn't be up to the task, well jokes on them

100% agree. Adams is a baller, but he ain't dirty. There is a difference.

Here is my take on this play and why people see it differently.

In the minds of the D, you are charging a QB to make tackle. Normally, you are wired to take advantage of this and provide a clean way to encourage him not to try that again. BUT, you are hampered by rules related to protection of QB when they SLIDE. The second Wolfy went head first, in a microsecond, Adams gives him a hard shot because he didn't slide.

The problem is, for those who argue it is NOT a penalty, is that the QB protection is not what the penalty was about. Which is why the explanation for the ref who "picked up" the flag was dead wrong. It was about a blow to the head/neck area on a defenseless player. It's like what you see with WRs on occasion. It had nothing to do with the fact it was a QB.

I hope they set this ref straight, because the original flag was correct, and it should be obviously incorrect to overturn, but instead all we got was an obvious ERROR by the lead official in overturning it.

Oh well, karma is real and we are moving on. Hope Wolford is a-OK and we have some good options for the next round. Buh-bye Sea-skanks.

In slow motion or in real time? In slow motion it looks like he has time, but in real time it happened so fast that once he has already projected himself theres only so much he can do.

I dnt like the hit at all and believe it should have been a penalty, but I also know that this is why qbs are taught to slide...

We see these guys make amazing split second adjustments all of the time. These are the greatest athletes on Earth and Jamal Adams is one of them. Wolford was going down and giving himself up and Adams decided to punish him as painfully as possible because football is a mean game and Adams was in a position to do it.
It's that simple.
Is Adams a dirty player? I don't know, but was that play dirty and against everything the league has been trying to stress for years now? Absofuckinglutely.

Both, it did happen fast but IMO he was hunting him from the get go, not everyone agrees that's ok, just how it looks to me, Seahawks are and always have been dirty. Maybe it's just my bias and hate for that team but I don't hate teams without good reason and nearly every match up with them we come away with injuries or they try to engage our guys in a fight, it's not a coincidence in my view

Its pretty similar to a few years ago when our own LaMarcus Joyner knocked Teddy Bridgewater out cold. In that case the flag was not picked up. I don’t remember if Joyner was ejected. Its a heat of the moment play and NFL safeties in general are vicious hitters with insane athleticism (especially Adams). Its ingrained in them from pee wee football to hit the ball carrier especially the QB when you have the chance. Wolford has to be smarter there. Goff would have probably gotten knocked out 2 weeks ago on the play where he slid feet first a yard short of the first down. Everyone was screaming and shitting on Goff for that myself included but he actually did the smart thing for his long term health and for the Rams QB situation

In my humble opinion, I don't think it was a cheap shot or even a penalty. Adams came in low, but the first part of his body to contact Wolford was his shoulder. He was going for a shoulder tackle on on a runner who had committed himself into plowing forward.

Where the play went wrong is Wolford hesitated for a split second, went to his knees and dove forward with his head down after Adams already committed himself. If it was an experienced running back in place of Wolford, the running back would not have gone to his knees head-down and Adams would have tackled the running back at the waist with his shoulder.

Unfortunately, Wolford got caught between giving himself up as a quarterback and committing himself as a runner.

At least that's how I see it.
