Seahawks have issues. Cap situation not good, will have to cut some pillars on that defense and they do not have a 2nd or a 3rd rounder next year in the draft. They should be heading towards the bottom for awhile, yet Wilson will likely steal a few games every year to keep them from truly bottoming out, but could be a 7-8 win team for awhile.

@94niners thanks for the bump of this thread! Great to let some frustrations out, I love the "1-2th man" (one twooth man)!
A lot of things had to come together for Goff to succeed, but shockingly it happened almost overnight.
Fans on this board are overjoyed that we got McVay, but Shanny is no slouch - I fully expect the 94's to rebuild under Grappolo, Shanny & Lynch. I think, as others have posted since the win, that we owe Fisher some cred for rebuilding the talent on this roster - McVay already had a lot to build off of, it's just we had so many players miscast & misused & undercoached. I think the 94's are close to where the Rams were after the disastrous reign of Spags & Devaney - talent drained, no FA's, new HC/GM combo, etc. With a decent QB in Jimmy G, you all will be dangerous in short order - interesting to see what you'll be if you get Saquon.

Bumplestiltskin.

Just wanted to say "I told you so" to the Goff haters. No, he's not Tom Brady, but he is a legitimately solid QB in his second season. 24 TDs, 7 INTs. Approcahing 4000 yards. For a year two QB he is doing fine.

I especially love the crow that Seahawk "fans" have to eat. The 1-2th man is incapable of seeing any QB other than Wilson, so it's good that Goff has proved those idiots wrong.

Bumplestiltskin...Bwahahahaha.

My first reaction was, "who necro'd another thread so people could argue about old stuff!!!"

Then I read the recent remarks and lots of funny

Now is the time to say that I was clearly wrong.

Man, he had promise. What I failed to consider was that he's just not that bright. Something between the ears was missing (similar to Jimmy G). I do think he's a solid QB, but he's not a guy who will take you to the Promised Land without an elite defense, running game and quality WRs.

However, now you have Matthew Stafford, who's twice the QB Goff was. I project well over 30 TDs and at some point some talk about MVP. Stafford has never had any help, other than Johnson a few years. He's never even had both a top twenty defense and top twenty run game in the same season (check out the Lions stats on Pro Football Reference for verification of this, year by year).

I also have a potential crow thread waiting to be made on a 49ers board over some morons who think Jimmy Garoppolo is interchangeable with Stafford. There is literally not an activity a QB does that Stafford isn't better than Jimmy in (except sleeping with porn stars), so during the trade rumors we who aren't pure homers were posting a lot of Stafford gifs and videos to demonstrate how he's better than Jimmy. They just wouldn't accept it. So as a 49er fan, hopefully Stafford has his best season, but the Rams lose the division to us and then bow out before the NFCCG. :ROFLMAO:

But yep. I projected Goff to improve. But he didn't have the smarts or heart to do so. I must admit my failure.

He improved leaps and bounds after that rookie season. No reason he can't do that again; if he's willing to work for it.

Good post though!

Oh god, this thread was a nice throwback to not as fun times on this board lol. Good reminder of what McVay brought to the table too.

He's among my greatest disappointments tbh, just based on the strength of my conviction on him. Nice job twisting that knife lol.

One reason I wasn't a fan of drafting him, he seemed toooo laid back and kind of like he didn't care. It helped when he would throw a pick and just shake it off, it never affected his confidence. But it seemed like he just didn't care.

He has all sorts of talent and was durable, but you are right on the above listed things.

After the superbowl loss to the cheaters, he really regressed as well.

I don’t know why everyone is writing Goff off like his career is over. Players go through down slides in their careers. I think he cares plenty. But him and McVay just didn’t mesh well together at the end. I’m willing to bet he’s around for a long time.

His career reminds me a lot of Philip Rivers. Lots of talent around him but never truly lived up to potential and had multiple high INT % years.

The jury is still out for Goff though. He had stretches of greatness in 2020 but the wheels eventually fell off. His first 5 games were a lot of fun to watch and he ended up recording his career high in completion %.

The Lions are probably still a year away and didn’t load up on weapons for Goff(I think they should grab Julio). But I can see a 2017 like performance from him if the Oline can still healthy and they develop a semblance of a run game. We will see.

First, I'd like to extend a olive branch and ask you to leave that pathetic franchise, fan base, and ugly uniforms. :dab: You seem to be a pretty competent person otherwise.

Second, I could just imagine those Jimmy G String people who just refuse to admit they were wrong and refusing to base their opinions off of recent data, but as evidenced how our culture has morphed in recent years the norm is to stay with your incorrect views and opinions, even when the evidence leads you to another conclusion. (they want to be right)

For this reason you may be attacked by Goff supporters here on ROD who refuse to hear anything than the image they built up in their minds that Goff is an MVP QB etc etc.

As history shows, McVay once beaten pretty handedly comes back the next meeting and wins pretty handedly, however your coach has been a consistent thorn in his side. I expect he will save some special things for our two games this year. :horns: Horns up sucka

This is exactly why I had a problem with Goff as well. Also, I really do feel McVay was the element that made Goff successful that vice versa. Why? Once teams found out a key to our scheme (which admittingly McVay took way to long to adjust to them finding the cypher to our code sort to speak) but Goff could not adapt, wing it, or improvise that well which I feel could be both or a combo of his ceiling was reached and couldn't be adapted and/or he didn't really care to over extend himself outside of what was asked of him.

I know, I know, we all rip on him now because fuck that guy but I still view Goff the same as I always have: a laid back young dude with a great arm and a lot to learn.
He was our best QB since 2003 and nowhere near his personal peak.

Stafford on the other hand is just an insanely talented dude and sadly if he never left the Lions, his career would likely have been remembered as the QB alternative to a Barry Sanders trivia question: Who was a special football talent whose career was wasted in Detroit?

I liked Goffs potential to keep improving and I still do.
But he isn't now, never has been and I find it very hard to believe that he ever will be as good as Stafford has been for years now. Goff also benefitted from a quality of coaching and supporting cast that Stafford has never enjoyed.

I just really, really...REALLY want to give Stafford the best pass pro he's ever had. Cam is young. He has a knack for running behind subpar run blocking and McVays playcalling helps too. We gave up a lot to get Stafford and I want to enjoy as many seasons as possible with him at the helm and thats going to be a lot more likely if the Rams keep the grass stains off his jersey.

My gawd - the exaggeration about Goff supporters is so fricken high.

I never once said Goff was an MVP QB or even an All - Pro QB and I don't think there has been more than maybe one person on this board that ever said that.

I will repeat what I said about Goff one last time. I stated Goff is a very good QB if he has an above average offensive line with a very good center being a priority. And I bet a lot of the Goff supporters have similar thoughts about Goff.

Oh and I agree with everything badnews stated just above me.

And with that - I am out of this thread

I heard Goff supporters weren't even Rams fans and they all left to troll lions boards
