And they swap 2 slots in the 1st round this year, which could be pretty big also and also probably worth 3rd-4th round pick in comp. Honestly, I think they paid too much for a guy that age who is not even assured of playing more then 1 more year. He has a injury history too and age sure as hell doesn't help that improve.
Totally agree.
Favre had one of his best years in his last Green Bay season. He was in the process of starting almost 300 straight games and the Jets only had to trade a conditional 4th rounder for him. Now they trade for Rodgers, destroy their cap, get a guy who had one of his worst seasons, has had an injury filled career and give up a 1st and 2nd rounder?? Insane

Wasnt because of Rodgers though. He was a stud, over 4,200 total yards 32 combined TD with only 13 INT.
I think if Jordan Love had any ability to play at legit level, they would have dumped Rodgers last year.
Alas, the Jets are gonna Jet, they are the east coast Cleveland Browns.
I can predict what will happen, they play good enough early so that Rodgers gets his 65%, but the team will be terrible in 2nd half and not make playoffs. Saleh will be fired, Rodgers will retire, Jets will have a huge dead cap hit, no 1st round pick and will be looking for a new coach

It's the Jet's way.

People don't realize that in 2021 the Ram's roster was built. They were just missing that one piece to give them a spark to get over the hump.

Everyone else tries to emulate it but their team roster doesn't justify the move they make to grab that supposedly last piece.

So I get the expectation that the Jets will continue to Jets. But that aside...

Their defense surrendered only 18.6 ppg last season. That put them behind only the Shitters. They may have a top defense in 2023 if they can get some offense going.

Their offense was 29th in the league at 17.4 ppg. Their QB sacked percentage was surprisingly not too poor, at 15th overall (6.28% of dropbacks). I don't like their run game, which was bottom third. But in addition to Rodgers they have Hackett coming in as OC which is significant. The QB/OC change alone is going to help them.

Whether they can win will come down to adding around the dickhead. But there are some pieces. Lazard, Denzel Mims, Corey Davis feels like a group if you add a good slot to the mix they should be ok. They should be able to find a RB in this draft. Also they need a RT but looking at their roster I don't think they're a poor group.

If their HC can hold the team together they might be a playoff team. I think they have enough things working in their favor.

I think the starting RB for jets got injured early in the season and before that he was doing prettygood if I remember right. Forget his name…

Breece Hall. Absolute stud. You hope he comes back this season, but even so, they'll need another good young back, just in case.

Jets have an outstanding D and some other pieces. They have a desperate owner and desperate fans. They desperately need a QB. And they desperately need a competitive successful season and team.

Whether they are one piece away, and whether Rodgers is that piece, remains to be seen. In concept it's not that dissimilar from the Rams getting Stafford though of course the teams and the qb are completely different. Rams also added further players after Stafford, notably Miller and OBJ. We'll see what other moves the Jets make.

It will be another interesting scenario to watch.

Speaking of the Jets, saw this:

So Cougar Town, LA then?

Seriously, I don't know though. The guy has the physical tools, but seems to be lacking in the maturity dept.

He'd probably do something crazy like send a text to his teammates that he'd pipe Sean's old lady.

I'd love to see us add Wilson but he'd have to be cheap. Doubt the Jets give him up too cheaply though. So offer a late rounder for Corrall and also draft a guy you like.

Even with the Jets taking a dead cap hit, Wilson's still going to cost any team that trades for him 9.3 mill over the next 2 years, all guaranteed.
Love to see McVay work with that talent but not at that price tag

I'd recheck their offense, Garret Wilson at WR was a rookie of the year candidate if not for the problems at QB, Breece Hall was possibly the best rookie running back before his injury last year. If all they had had was competent QB play and Hall not getting hurt they would easily have been top 15 in offense. With Rodgers and Hall coming back from injury there's no reason to think they won't be top 15.
