How the Los Angeles Rams’ contract layout would look with an extension for DL Aaron Donald
The Rams are rumored to be close to locking up DPOY Aaron Donald with a long-term megadeal. Here’s how it would look afterward in terms of the other major players on expiring deals.

Weird article. It's about how the Rams can sign AD and their key players - except that they conclude that the Rams should have a bit under $10 million available for signings - except they forgot to actually factor in signing AD. And replacing players like Suh, but especially signing AD. It's also not clear if they are factoring in things like Gurley's 5th year raise, but again, not factoring in what would be the Rams' biggest contract and what is the entire point of the article seems bizarre. Only at the end do they bring AD up again, but not really explaining how a $20 million or more cap hit would cost a lot more in talent casualties than they have let on.

The thing is is that Diggs or the others aren’t considered the best player on that side of the ball in their given sport. Cooks isn’t even in the top of WR’s in the NFL.

AD and Mack are top producers and either one could be considered top D player in the league which why they can’t get a contract done. Sure they would have a contract if they signed for 18 mill a year or 2k a year. That's not the point. They don’t have a contract because the worth vs value is not there. If we weren’t in such a good position in regards to cap room the next few years I doubt we sign AD. Demoff is smart asf and won’t do anything to put us in a bind that he got us out of when he got here to the Rams. Glad he’s playing it smart and working us through this and not laying over and letting his agent freak us with no lube.

Gurley is considered top producer at his position and got around 14 Million per year IIRC. While Cooks could be considered top 10 in production over the last 2-3 years considering yard, YPC and TDs.

That's my point Donald could be over valuing his worth. Coward saying Donald can't get a contract is off the mark.

He's saying he can't get a contract for what AD thinks he's worth. Gurley plays RB, a devalued position and thought he was worth what was offered otherwise he wouldn't have extended. What Coward is pointing out is he can't get a contract for what he thinks he's worth. Obviously he can get a contract man, just not what he wants it to be!

How does Go where know what he thinks he is worth? I've listened to Go where for years. Parts of his show were great. Other parts, like his opinions on situations were bad. Since moving to LA and becoming a basketball reporter he has gotten worse with his NFL insight.

Donald is doubled/tripled team more than any DT in the league yet he pressures the qb more than any other DT or DE. Just imagine what he’s gonna do with suh lining up next to him. Can’t wait for this deal to get done so this line can wreak havoc on offenses all year!

Yeah, he started out sounding like the dumb guy at the bar with hyperbolic pontification only to later speak to the superiority over said dumb guy at the bar afforded to him by his access to analytic software.

He does have a point though, after you peel away the drama ... that Mack and Donald aren't worth what they think they are, and that any team foolish enough to give them what they want will run into trouble with the cap.
