Which in turn freaks me out when people got mad we paid Gurley and Cooks first. It makes more sense especially since he wasn't being reasonable.

Offense is king in today's NFL.
Maybe, but Aaron Donald is Indominus Rex, and he tames offenses...

That was interesting.

"Aaron Donald can't get a contract". Really?

Diggs and the others didn't ask for near top QB money. Cooks got a market rate deal for a free agent top level wide receiver which he is based on the numbers. Is a defensive player worth as much as a top QB? No, but he can be worth as much or more than a WR. I'm sure Rams would sign Donald to an $18 Million deal right now. The problem is Donald appears to think he is worth much more.

The rule changes favor the offense. What would happen if they went back to the old rules. What's going to happen with the new tackling rule? Let's see how they call that. The NFL has become all about the offense. They protect the offensive players and penalties the defensive players. It's an offensive league driven by quarterbacks. Top defensive pass rushers still get more than WRs and RBs.
The thing is is that Diggs or the others aren’t considered the best player on that side of the ball in their given sport. Cooks isn’t even in the top of WR’s in the NFL.

AD and Mack are top producers and either one could be considered top D player in the league which why they can’t get a contract done. Sure they would have a contract if they signed for 18 mill a year or 2k a year. Thats not the point. They don’t have a contract because the worth vs value is not there. If we weren’t in such a good position in regards to cap room the next few years I doubt we sign AD. Demoff is smart asf and won’t do anything to put us in a bind that he got us out of when he got here to the Rams. Glad he’s playing it smart and working us through this and not laying over and letting his agent fuck us with no lube.

Right now I just don't care about analytics, metrics, or future contracts. I just want to see Donald and suh play on the same line. If that costs a couple extra million of stans money, then so be it.

My guess is 5 years 120 million.

that makes sense.

a 5 year extension of that value.

tack it onto his 7m this season and it's 6 years for $127m.

that's just over $21m per season.

ad can boast about his $24m per year while the rams are content with $21m per year.

It won't cost any of Stan's money. The Rams would spend the salary cap with or without Donald. It's just that less money will go to providing depth for the Rams, so that the Rams will have to gamble more, hoping 6th rounders are ready to contribute in the (inevitable) case of injuries. Instead of being able to sign desirable older FAs, the Rams will go with more of the dregs.

The Rams staff is smart, but more gambles makes it much more likely that they miss out, that there's not a good backup QB available, or good depth on the OL, or somebody to fill in when a linebacker gets hurt.

Lol.You just reiterated everything I said I don't care about.....at this point.

I have faith that they can work things out so I'm done with the countless variables outside of the team"s control. I just wanna see them play together. Sort the other shit out later.

My point is that if you're interested in actually building a team, then you can't ignore actually having things like depth, and then acting like it doesn't matter, it's Kroenke's money. It does matter. The first time that Goff gets knocked out of a game thanks to poor OL depth, everybody is likely to freak out if there's not an adequate backup.

By that logic though, our defense has been bad in at least one category pretty much every year since Donald has been here.

And that was with talent around him each year. What does that say?

So you think it is Aaron Donald’s fault that the run defense sucked? Ogletree was a weak link in that D, so was Quinn when it came to run defense. Wade has always had some degree of trouble with run defense, on his defenses.

I understand all that but I'm saying that after hearing your point and the many times its been mentioned and discusswd by others over these weeks as well as all the other points you didnt mention that have been mentioned/beaten to death over the same time, that I am not ignoring any of these facts or possibilities. I'm just acknowledging that there are way too many variables that no one can account or prepare for and because I have faith the front office can work things out as they unfold, I am at the point where all I care about is seeing these guys next to each other on Monday night football.

@wolfdogg post no. 1731. Add the two numbers in the middle (7+3) then subtract the far left number (10-1) and do it again with the far right number (10-1)... and you get 99 which is AD's jersey number. MIND BLOWN! :headexplosion:

Just helping trying to get to 100 pages! :D

I think his point is that the position has limitations. More than a QB at least, which is the money Donald supposedly wants

Semi? Perhaps a little blue pill could cure that. Although of it lasts for more than 4 games, see a doctor.
A semi because they haven't officially been on the field together! I don't get ahead of myself for that pre mature stuff! :D
