What the heck? I came on here today thinking we'd be around page 99, as there has been NO Donald contract news. How'd we get to page 106 already? So much for my Agent 99 joke...

I definitely think Jake has a bright future in journalism but I just don’t know what sources he would have related to the Rams. If true it would be extremely impressive and I would never doubt his word again.

The Rams have a tight front office, not much in the way of leaks coming out of there or otherwise the Havenstein contract not to mention Gurley's would have been reported. Cooks was obvious and still there wasn't any real insider info that broke on his status. IMO it's pretty clear some guys took a calculated risk in predicting AD was gonna sign.

Also gotta say you have a load of dudes nowadays parading around BS on twitter as if they're "reporters." Make a twitter account, name your product something snazzy, and prowl fan boards for material. Sorry if I'm not impressed by that BS.

It’s a shame newer journalists are taking a page out of the click bait journalism prevelant now a days instead of doing their homework, getting respect for quality work, and developing real sources over time. The OBJ BS is just another big whiff that “ sources” confirmed.

It’s obvious downtown Rams is trying random time lines to be right about something with ‘supposed’ sources. Then when it doesn’t pan out just throw another week into it to damage control making up BS. I can do the same, “ my unnamed sources tell me in 2018 sometime the Rams and Aaron Donald’s representiritives are working on getting a deal done.”

Man I didn’t even have to travel, go to school, or train to be a sports journalist and I’m already on point with others in the industry. Start respecting my “ sources” ROD.

Am I the only one who thinks that Myles was in the right? Does he need to have thicker skin? Maybe. Still, that fan was totally in the wrong, and he (the fan) would probably fit on RamStalk with his idiocy. Ranting at the beat reporter to sign Donald when he doesn't have any influence to do it is incredibly rude.

I am guessing the comment the fan made was in jest. It had to be.....Myles was just to uptight to recognize it.

A lot of social media users/fans are DICKS and you might not necessarily be uptight to recognize that.

I seriously doubt that. Jake is trying to make it in sports journalism and isn't doing it by "getting a job" with an existing source, but trying to create his own venue. As a journalist, even a sports journalist, inventing sources is a way to end that career. Period. End of discussion. He's already done interviews with players and is trying to establish a brand. His timing was impeccable because it predates McVay and the Rams weren't all that good under Fisher and now they seem poised to really explode in popularity and we're likely to see a bunch of new stuff and the Rams and players are naturally gonna favor the already established ones. Even though he's pretty young, he's been doing it long enough (even if only like a year or so) that he's a known entity.

Jake wouldn't be the first reporter to get partial, bum or even correct information at the time that eventually turns out not to be true. It may have been true that someone involved thought they were close and then AD's agent says, "now, about this thing" and the source either didn't know about it or couldn't risk disclosing further info.

Anyway, it's possible to get good information that turns out to be wrong because things happen between when someone says something should happen and when it happens. If something changes, those end up different and without anyone being nefarious or corrupt.

The last thing I think Jake would do is invent a source. That ends a career before it's begun.

Okay I can understand this what you think is a hope or a want of having quality reporting but I go by evidence and facts and as evidence shows nothing has been accurate on what “ breaking news” there was.

Let’s forget about AD and his contract situation for a minute. Jake tried to get ahead and be the one ‘ breaking’ Rams source of the OBJ topic to get a lot of followers and credit. However it was the farthest thing from even being a remote possibility.

That’s cool If you think a guy comes to ROD and posts articles and talks to people and might even chat it up with, but as evidence shows other than basic articles his reporting is covering his eyes and throwing darts and seeing what hits. You doubt he would do that? Well learning from the guys on TV, young up and coming reporters see that as success and legit sports journalism and will follow suit. Don’t be to surprised if someone starting out wouldn’t follow the same formulas.

Now back to AD’s contract situation, there hasn’t been a peep besides supposed rumors from anybody. If this front office had a habit of leaking info I’m sure we would have heard about Havenstein, Gurleys, and more about a Cooks extension. We didn’t hear anything until they were done so chances are the same will be for AD’s contract to. But going and saying info confirmed and when it doesn’t happen say it’ll happen next week is weak sauce.

We at ROD call out reporters that do this all the time and when someone we are more than familiar with does the same stuff that’s okay? No... don’t want BS info to waste my time or energy. @Mackeyser nothing against you but I’m not trusting the word anymore of someone who “ interviews players”. Anybody with a press pass can do that.

Jets reach out to Raiders to express interest in trading for disgruntled All-Pro Khalil Mack, per sources

The Jets are going big-game hunting.

Gang Green has reached out to the Oakland Raiders to express their interest in trading for perennial All-Pro outside linebacker Khalil Mack, according to league sources.

The Raiders have fielded queries from more than a dozen teams, including several that have reached out multiple times, sources said.

The Jets haven’t made an offer for arguably the best defensive player in the NFL, but their mindset is clear: We’re going to be aggressive to address our biggest weakness.

Oakland has told interested clubs that they will not part with the tour-de-force edge pass rusher, whose holdout has extended to 27 days. But until the Raiders and Mack actually end their impasse ... never say never.

Mack, scheduled to make $13.8 million on his fifth-year option, is looking to become the first non-quarterback to make $20 million per year. The 2016 Defensive Player of the Year will be worth every penny given his prodigious production in his first four seasons. Mack, the fifth overall pick in the 2014 draft, has been a nightmare for years.

How ridiculously great is Mack, who’s in his prime at age 27?

Well, consider his “down year” in 2017: 10.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and 55 hurries, according to Pro Football Focus. He accounted for 31.7 percent of Oakland’s pressures.

Mack, believe it or not, is better than his absurd career numbers (40 1/2 sacks). He’s started every game of his career.

He’s a menace that would transform any defense. Your pass rush instantly becomes great the minute he steps on the field. He’s also a run-stopping freak.

The Jets, who have ranked in the bottom 5 in sacks in each of the past two seasons, are desperately looking to upgrade on the edge. The Daily News reported this week that Gang Green reached out to the Jaguars to gauge their interest level in trading mercurial defensive end Dante Fowler Jr.

“Well, we don't have the name guy,” Todd Bowles said of his current collection of edge pass rushers. "We don't have the Lawrence Taylor, so to speak, but we have guys that work hard and are very tough at the point of attack. You don't need a name guy. You just need a guy with production. And the production will make the name.

Disrupting the quarterback is the big thing as well as setting the edge. We have certain guys that can do a lot of things right now. We’re mixing and matching to get a feel for what guys can and can't do right now.”

None of those guys, frankly, can do what Mack can do.

He’s on an altogether different level. He’s a game-wrecker who single-handedly alters opponent’s game-plans. He strikes fear into quarterbacks on a weekly basis.

Mack, a three-time Pro Bowler, became the first player in NFL history to earn first-team All-Pro honors at two different positions (defensive end and outside linebacker) in 2016.

“Mack’s the best player coming off the edge in football,” Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said last week. “That’s our opinion. We’re determined to find a way to get him in here and get him a contract and get on with life.”

That’s evidently easier said than done.

The Raiders haven’t given any interested teams permission to discuss a new contract with Mack’s representatives in a potential trade scenario, according to sources.

The Jets, frankly, have the resources to make it happen given their available cap space now and relatively low 2019 cap commitments. The Raiders, however, haven’t reached the point where they’d entertain such a thought.

It would be an enormous cost – at least a first-rounder and another premium pick (first three rounds) or a first-rounder and a top-level starter – but the Jets are bent on not sitting on their hands if Oakland alters their current stance.

For those who believed that the Jets would be happy to tip-toe through this season before making a big splash in 2019, think again. This regime has been strategically aggressive since the end of last season.

The Raiders seemingly aren’t blinking in their stare-down with Mack. But if they do, the Jets have made it clear that they’ll be serious suitors for the best defensive player in the sport.

That mindset is exactly what the franchise needs right now.

Wait this reporter screwed up. He said the Jets are suitors for the best defensive player yet the article talks about Mack not AD!

Maybe they would be interested in Donald. I'm about ready to see what the Rams could get for him. I personally don't want to see him break the bank and the Rams suffer the ramification to the cap for years. He appears to just be a greedy SOB, I mean if 21 million is not enough F him! I for one am sick of his bullshit.
